"National Committee" does not appear to unamibguously refer to the target, with many variations on "National Committee" in internal search results. While it's not clear how many of these groups have presidents, given the lack of prominence of the National Convention I think that deletion to allow for internal search results is the appropriate course of action. signed, Rosguill talk 22:57, 27 September 2021 (UTC) reply

  • Retarget to Encyclopedia#Digital encyclopedias {{ R to subtopic}}. The redirect should be kept, at minimum because it has a non-trivial edit history. Since the section on Digital encyclopedias discusses the advent of free encyclopedias, this is a helpful redirect. I was going to say it should redirect to Wikipedia, because that would be consistent with the The Free Encyclopedia, but the section in the Encyclopedia article indicated that Wikipedia wasn't the only free one, nor was it even the first. • Weak retarget to Encyclopedia#Digital encyclopedias. I see the concern with this, since there's no inherent reason a free encyclopedia would need to be digital. Still, there are practical reasons why it almost certainly would be (i.e., avoiding the costs of print publication), so for now, at least, this should take readers where they want to go. -- BDD ( talk) 20:55, 4 October 2021 (UTC) reply

The result of the discussion was retarget to Pedro Gonçalves. No prejudice against a subsequent RM. I see clear consensus that this should redirect to the version without the cedilla. -- BDD ( talk) 20:51, 4 October 2021 (UTC) reply

It makes little sense to me that the name " Pedro Goncalves" redirects to a disambiguation, but Pedro Gonçalves with a cedilla goes to a specific person. Bear in mind that most English speakers will not have a cedilla on their keyboard, and once they have typed the unaccented c, the autosuggest will only show this redirect, not the footballer who is the result with an accented c. If this discussion goes the way of saying that the footballer is not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for this common Portuguese name, then really the next step should be to nominate moving him to Pedro Gonçalves (footballer) 2A00:23C5:E187:5F00:7945:3621:8556:8CD4 ( talk) 18:55, 27 September 2021 (UTC) reply

  • Retarget to Pedro Gonçalves. Are you proposing deleting the redirect or retargeting? I suggest retargeting since it's not a new redirect and has an edit history. Coastside ( talk) 22:54, 27 September 2021 (UTC) reply

  • Delete - Actually, this is one of several hundred redirects by the same user that have dubious usefulness but seem to be created for the sake of "consistency". A few of them seem to fall under "totally unnecessary" like this one. – Epicgenius ( talk) 23:27, 27 September 2021 (UTC) reply
    • To be fair, JailBrokenIPODGoneWild's creation was New York City station (Grand Central Station) so this one is your creation via a move. Because you want it deleted, I'm curious why you made that move, which is unnecessary at best and a WP:MOVEREDIRECT violation at worst. Wouldn't it be better to tag it with {{ db-r3}} or nominate it here? -- Tavix ( talk) 16:12, 28 September 2021 (UTC) reply
      • Not to put words in Epic's mouth, but it was probably a good faith correction of the redirect. The building is properly Grand Central Terminal, not Grand Central Station. It's a bit of a bugaboo among NUC area railfans when people get that wrong. That said, when he saw my nomination for deletion he probably realized that was the better course of action. oknazevad ( talk) 01:11, 29 September 2021 (UTC) reply
        • Sure, but if there is a problem with a redirect, it needs to be nominated for deletion, not "corrected"— redirects need not be correct. Grand Central Station is a well-known name for building, perhaps even more so than Grand Central Terminal among non-fans. -- Tavix ( talk) 01:26, 29 September 2021 (UTC) reply
@ Tavix: That was my mistake. Basically oknazevad's comment is correct - as GCT is the proper name for the station, I thought I was actually deleting a redirect from an even more uncommon term. I should have tagged it for deletion at that point. Again, it is completely my fault as I had forgotten about WP:MOVEREDIRECT, so I will make sure not to do that again. – Epicgenius ( talk) 15:36, 29 September 2021 (UTC) reply
No worries. As someone who nominated a fair bit of JBIGW's redirects, I think my frustration with them is seeping though. That is—if only we had gotten these redirects taken care of back then, perhaps they would have ceased their pointless-to-harmful redirect creations a bit earlier than they did. Anyway, I just realized I haven't voted on this one yet, I'm going to do so now... -- Tavix ( talk) 17:08, 29 September 2021 (UTC) reply
  • Delete. To add to Epicgenius, some such as Oakland County, California (which I just picked at random) seem to be Just Plain Wrong. Oakland, California is the county seat of Alameda County, California, and from reading the article it appears never to have been called "Oakland County", and Memphis, Tennessee is not in Memphis County, Tennessee, any more than Houston, Texas is in Houston County, Texas (a real Texan county and hatnoted). Neither do I understand why Line 0 (New York) and Line O (New York) redirect to 42nd Street Shuttle: The article makes no mention of a "line 0" (or "O"). Inventing counties, or names for public transport, that are not used in real life, is just WP:RFD#D2 confusing. (The rationale behind having "wrong" redirects such as misspellings is that they are used in real life.) 85.67.32.244 ( talk) 15:44, 28 September 2021 (UTC) reply
  • 125th station has as its target a DAB ( 125th Street), where many things are not stations; similarly 86th station, 96th station, et cetera ad nauseam. (Although 72nd station redirects to 72nd Street station.) Similarly Rs to DABs The B, The C, The F, The P and The S would seem of dubious utility.
This has been going on a while: From mid-2019 we have Green Line (London), Yellow Line (London), Blue Line (London), Black Line (London) and no doubt others, even though no Londoner ever calls the London Underground lines by colour. Tourists and newcomers do, so they may be useful, but since Green Line Coaches primarily serve London, it doesn't make for good disambiguation. 85.67.32.244 ( talk) 16:17, 28 September 2021 (UTC) reply
The redirects to disambiguation pages for incomplete titles bothers me less. 125th Street station already redirects to the 125th Street dab page because some time back it was decided to merge station dab pages into broader dab pages covering names, as is the case for other topic areas as well. As for the colors where colors aren't typically used, you already note that those unfamiliar with proper names may use them, so keeping those are aiding readers unfamiliar with the topic find the right page. That's just reader friendly. That said, things like "The F" are useless and should be deleted. oknazevad ( talk) 01:11, 29 September 2021 (UTC) reply
Yes, I agree about the Tube lines, I mentioned them as inferred that often these redirects have been done without much thought or knowledge. For example, two Tube lines are coloured blue, the Victoria Line in light blue and the Piccadilly Line in dark blue. So I made the redirect into a disambiguation page. Actually Transport for London calls them "Corporate Light Blue" and "Corporate Blue" (q.v. Tube map § Line colours) and, as that section explains, they've changed over time. That's irrelevant of course if the Rs helps readers get what they want.
Redirecting a nonexistent US county (named for its county seat) only encourages the spread of misinformation, IMO. These are not rcatted with {{ R from incorrect name}}, nor anything else. 85.67.32.244 ( talk) 07:24, 1 October 2021 (UTC) reply

  • Delete. I think this term is a valid {{ R from related word}} or phrase for the target. The related redirects Life as we do not know it and Life, but not as we know it also target the alternative biochemistry article. But in this case, it seems this version with odd capitalization was created for an entry on the disambiguation page Life as We Know It, where it is linked contrary to MOS:DABONE. So delete this version, create the proper sentence-case version of this redirect if desired, and update the dab page as appropriate. Mdewman6 ( talk) 18:39, 19 September 2021 (UTC) reply
  • Keep. In science fiction (and speculative discussions about alien biochemistry), "Life as we know it" refers to life similar to that found on Earth (carbon-based), whereas "Life as we don't know it" refers to life using alternate biochemistries. Googling "Life as we don't know it" reveals some pages discussing alternative forms of biochemistry. Also, see this - [2] Ae-a ( talk)

The result of the discussion was no consensus. I am not adding the suggested hatnote, since I find it unlikely we'd ever bother creating a Muscular arms if this fictional place didn't exist, although if anyone feels strongly that we should have such a hatnote, I won't revert it. -- BDD ( talk) 20:16, 4 October 2021 (UTC) reply

Briefly mentioned in target article as a minor plot point, but the primary topic here seems to be literal muscular arms. Hog Farm Talk 23:36, 19 September 2021 (UTC) reply

Weak oppose: As the creator of this redirect, I have a slight preference to keep the original target based on the capitalization of the word "Arms", which I feel would be an unusual inclusion in the search box if a reader were to search for an article about health, anatomy, or even bodybuilding. (For context, the redirect's title refers to a fictional apartment building named "Muscular Arms" inhabited by a trio of superheroes in the cartoon series Dexter's Laboratory.) That being said, I do understand the nominator's point of view. — Paper Luigi TC 00:32, 21 September 2021 (UTC) reply
