Reason: because I'm a guy and there are too many usernames "similar" to Googleman to let me create an account. Of course, alL of them are very old and none of them have any edits.
I'm sure beaurocrats are not as ignorant as the people helping out at account creation but if you're hesitating because Google is a company, kindly remember that it is not "simply names of companies or groups". It is more like WidgetFan87 which is one of the permitted examples given. Besides in usual English slang, Googleman does not imply a representative of Google. Google is not just the name of a company but an entire culture. It is also a verb referring to an activity that is found on most dictionaries. That's the meaning I use it in and it won't be lost on anyone at least after I start making edits

I dunno, it's kinda borderline. I wouldn't really call "KleenexMan" or "CheeriosDude" promotional and to be honest I've never really found the argument about "Promotional usernames" to be particularly compelling. It's not like I'm going to see a username "ChevroletGuy" and suddenly be compelled to go out and buy a chevy; in other words, the username of someone on Wikipedia has little-to-no promotional value.
The only reason I didn't process this request so far is because of the anti-spoof warnings. Wasn't too sure how overriding them vis-a-vis the global rename policy works. If GoogleMan is promotion, so is Googlewoman so the person should choose a different name. If it's not, and anti-spoof is not a concern, then we should just go ahead with the and any objections can go to RFCN. –
