Requests for permissions |
---|
This page enables administrators to handle requests for permissions on the English Wikipedia. Administrators are able to modify account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, file mover, extended confirmed, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback, and template editor rights, and AutoWikiBrowser access. Editors wishing to request a permission flag here should do so following the procedure below. Editors requesting permissions are advised to periodically revisit the requests page, as notifications will not always be given after a decision is made. Editors should not expect their request to be answered right away and should remember to be patient when filing a request. To find out what permissions your account has, go to Special:Preferences, where your permissions are listed in the user profile tab under "Member of groups". Requests for permissions are archived regularly; please see Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Archive for an index of past requests. |
If this page has been recently modified, it may not reflect the most recent changes. Please purge this page to view the most recent changes. |
Several permissions are requested and handled elsewhere:
If you wish to have any of your permission flags (except administrator) removed, you should contact an administrator. If you want your administrator flag removed, you should contact a bureaucrat.
This is not the place to request review of another user's rights. If you believe someone's actions merit removal of a permission flag, you should raise your concern at the incidents noticeboard.
The bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight flags are removed at meta:Steward requests/Permissions. Stewards will typically not carry out such requests unless they are made on behalf of the Arbitration Committee, by a user who is requesting their own access be removed, or in cases of an emergency.
To make a request for a permission, click "add request" next to the appropriate header and fill in the reason for wanting permission.
Any editor may comment on requests for permission.
Administrators are permitted to grant account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, event coordinator, file mover, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback and template editor flags to any user who meets the criteria explained above and can be trusted not to abuse the tool(s). Administrators may either grant these permissions permanently or temporarily. For convenience, a bot will automatically comment with relevant data if the user does not meet configurable qualifications. Even if the bot does not comment, administrators should review the user's contributions and logs to ensure the tools will be used appropriately and check for any indication of potential misuse.
Once an administrator has granted a permission or decided to deny a request, they should add {{ done}} or {{ not done}} respectively under the request with their comments. If a user already has the requested permission, or is autoconfirmed and requesting confirmed, {{ already done}} should be used. N hours after the last comment was made (as specified by the config), the request will be archived automatically: approved requests will be placed here; declined requests will go here. See User:MusikBot/PermClerk#Archiving for more information on archiving functionality.
Requests for permissions is primarily intended for editors requesting a permission for their own account. Other editors are welcome to comment if they have specific information that is relevant to that request that a patrolling administrator is unlikely to discover for themselves. Otherwise, since only administrators can effectively respond to these requests, general comments or 'clerking' by other users are rarely helpful. Non-administrators cannot "decline" to grant a request, because they're not in a position to accept it.
A limited exception to this is Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled, where third party nominations are encouraged. Other editors should still avoid offering general remarks on requests and leave the final decision to an administrator.
I have created 80 articles, primarily focused on Sinophone cinema and fantasy literature, with 2 currently undergoing GAN. All of my articles have been promptly reviewed, and none of them have been deleted or marked for maintenance. I am requesting autopatrolled rights to alleviate the workload of the patrollers, especially those who actively review film articles and have reviewed the majority of my articles, allowing them to allocate more time to address articles that truly require attention. As a side note, I am a veteran editor with patroller rights on Chinese Wikipedia, having authored over 200 articles, including a dozen featured and good articles. While I fully understand that there are differences in policies and MOS across different Wikipedias, I believe this demonstrates my credibility and knowledge in assessing article quality.— Prince of Erebor( The Book of Mazarbul) 13:18, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
I frequently create articles on notable subjects, having authored 530 articles, with the majority facing no issues. I got busy in real life for most of March and April, so my request was put on hold per [1]. Here is my original reason for requesting NPR permissions again.
I have over 120 new articles under my belt, mostly relating to medieval history, monasteries, saints, and geographical features. I am familiar with the kinds of content that would fall under CSD criteria, since I have experience wikifying new pages and tagging obviously problematic new pages for speedy deletion. I know the guidelines on notability, proper sourcing, draftifying new articles, rating talk pages using scripts, AfC, AfD, and other essential patrolling tasks. Would be quite happy to reduce the backlog while being cautious and careful. Also currently a Pending Changes Reviewer. Florificapis ( talk) 00:09, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
I would like to participate in the NPP backlog drive.
I participated in the December backlog drive, being granted a trial. At the end of the trial I requested permanent NPP, which was denied with the denying admin expressing concern that I hadn't created any articles. I've since created an article about Neeraj Gupta (refer to User_talk:TarnishedPath/Archive_2#Your_submission_at_Articles_for_creation:_Neeraj_Gupta_(sculptor)_has_been_accepted) and been responsible for the bulk of the material in the newly created article Bruce Lehrmann. I had been working on Draft:Bruce Lehrmann but someone else started work on Bruce Lehrmann just as I submitted Draft:Bruce Lehrmann to AfC so I ended up merging my work over to the mainspace article and issuing a CSD for deletion of the draft. I've continued to be semi-regularly involved with AfD. I'm applying because I got a notification a while ago that there was a backlog drive for May and I'm willing to help out a bit with that. Hello. I was initially given a month long trial as a new page reviewer after receiving an invitation on my user page, and I've been enjoying everything so far: reviewing pages, providing feedback, sending WikiLove to new and returning users who have made exceptional first attempts, tagging issues, and resolving issues myself (that could otherwise be tagged) when I have time in an attempt to reduce the backlog. I have already been renewed once, and my second trial expires in a little over two weeks (May 26th). I'm requesting either an indefinite or longer-term ability to review new pages before my time lapses. Haven't had any behavioral issues, and I try to treat all users with respect. I was suggested to apply

I have DYK, GA, and vast experience with AFD and other noticeboard discussions. I'd like to volunteer in new pages patrolling as well to help reduce the queue. (I most likely won't be reviewing pages daily, but whenever I do, I'd do a thorough review, and I'm very collaborative. I provide feedback and at times amend issues myself of the pages I review).
Note that I've had a name change, so certain stats tool pages might not work properly. And 3 out of 4 of my deleted pages were self delete.

Was hoping to contribute with working on the backlog here. I have rollback and have been working on RCP, but looking to expand my experience a bit. Not much to brag about with new article creation, but there's a limited sample there I stand behind. I'm decently acquainted with the AfD scene, and have been working with new (often problematic) users and editors as best I can from RCP. I was removed from probationary AFC due to inactivity, but I'm planning to be online more in the immediate future. Also have worked with copyvio patrol and have done the oddball GA review. Looking forward to help, and happy to discuss any questions. Thanks! Bgv. ( talk) 21:09, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
I always wanted to review new pages since I became familiar with Wikipedia and had a good behaviour. I also got motivated to post this request when I was granted to the autopatrolled user right without applying for it (an administrator decided it voluntarily). Hello. I am re-applying for template editor rights, which I was granted on a temporary basis by Primefac ( permalink) on 24 February; it is about to expire at 00:00, on 24 May. As I promised in my original request back in February, and as can be seen, I didn't misuse this right in any way. I used it in a very responsible manner, on a periodical basis, and I'm no longer obliged to bother others with template-protected edit requests, and basically have them to do my work for me when it comes to HRTs.

I'll check specially the last pages on "New Pages", which are at the end of the queue, to improve those articles and helping new users by telling the mistakes they have. Thanks in advance. Re-requesting after my one-month trial expired a month ago. I rename pages when it's necessary to make a round-robin swap, draftify new articles, and periodically close RMs. I also sometimes help in renaming categories for CfD. Cremastra ( talk) 20:20, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi I am requesting permanent page mover rights. I have been using my rights to help close Requested Moves and WP:RMTR and to the lessor extent draftifying pages. I have been more careful since the last time I requested the rights, doing the required cleanup after moves. I am asking for the renewal early as it took a long time for my rights to be renewed the last time. Thank you for your consideration. Lightoil ( talk) 00:56, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
There are considerable issues relating to the Indonesian project content that have titles that require moving. JarrahTree 03:08, 23 May 2024 (UTC) JarrahTree 03:08, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
I've created many biographies and have a good understanding of Wikipedia policies. I've fixed vandalism many times and fixed many biography of living persons violations. RowanJ LP ( talk) 15:20, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
I am requesting for pending changes reviewer rights so that I can review pending changes. Ritwik Mahata t@lk 15:16, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
I have been editing for around 2.5 years now, with specialised focus on field of entertainment. I also often correct typos or do general fixes on articles of various subjects. I have a good knowledge of wikipedia policies and would like to get this pending changes reviewer rights to broaden by experience and get more expertise of Wikipedia. I have read all the articles and tips for reviewing pending edits. I also have a large, significant history of editing many Engkish and Korean articles about Academics, Music theory, etc. AnAlpineSymphony ( talk) 05:17, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
I've done reverting vandalism (Although I was on a hiatus since Golden Week as the vandal level hit 5) for some months now, with my edits growing over 2000 from 89ish including other works, and I request this permission to help with the works. I understand that I did make a misunderstandment couple of weeks ago and I have revised the guidelines to prevent another instance of that happening. (I've been making sure not to miss placing a uw as well). Not planning to request rollbacker until I stop making accidents. ABG ( Talk/Report any mistakes here) 01:34, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
I have made some very high quality articles ( Aston Martin DB9 FA and Aston Martin Rapide at FAC) so I am very familiar with what content is reliable and what is not. I have reverted vandalism (in fact, reverting vandalism was the first edit I made) and whenever i seen vandalism, I take extreme pride in reverting it. Best 750 h+ 13:28, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
I have watched listed several article that have been protected as "pending changes" such as Charizard and Woody (Toy Story) and I would love to have an option to accept their edits if its constructive. 🍕 Boneless Pizza!🍕 ( 🔔) 01:27, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
I've been editing Wikipedia since 2004 and have been mainly working on articles about New Zealand, musical instruments, and wine. I've helped build several articles up to GA ( cimbasso, serpent, contrabass trombone, soprano trombone) and reviewed several others. It would be good to be able to approve pending useful contributions to protected articles; the current article that prompted this request is the trombone article, which I'd also like to work on. I have been editing the English Wikipedia for about five years now, and have made approximately 7,300 edits. I am an active user, and currently monitor around 1400 pages. I also have a good understanding of the relevant policies and the guideline on reviewing; per the criteria to receive this permission. Demetrios1993 ( talk) 02:18, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
I'm applying for rollback rights in order to help with my current recent changes patrolling. With rollback rights, I will gain access to more advanced counter-vandalism tools like AntiVandal and Huggle. I have been patrolling for about a month and made plenty of AIV reports (all of which were successful). BerryForPerpetuity ( talk) 12:38, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
I patrol a lot at RC, have made 216 edits, constantly warns users of vandalism, does not edit war. I'm not part of the CVU, but i revert vandalism quite a lot. DANGA14 talk 12:21, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
I've been active at recent changes for more than 3 months to help revert vandalism and report AIV, which is successful. Rollback rights need access to a counter-vandalism tool. HirowoWiki ( talk | contribs) 01:21, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
I often edit language and formatting-related templates, some of which are highly transcluded and thus protected. Remsense 诉 07:18, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
Naturally, I would prefer if this right is extended on a permanent basis, but that is up to admins to decide. — Sundostund mppria ( talk / contribs) 13:23, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
There are a number of highly visible protected templates inside my bots' userspace that I'd like to be able to modify again now that I am no longer an admin:
