Requests for permissions |
---|
This page enables administrators to handle requests for permissions on the English Wikipedia. Administrators are able to modify account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, file mover, extended confirmed, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback, and template editor rights, and AutoWikiBrowser access. Editors wishing to request a permission flag here should do so following the procedure below. Editors requesting permissions are advised to periodically revisit the requests page, as notifications will not always be given after a decision is made. Editors should not expect their request to be answered right away and should remember to be patient when filing a request. To find out what permissions your account has, go to Special:Preferences, where your permissions are listed in the user profile tab under "Member of groups". Requests for permissions are archived regularly; please see Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Archive for an index of past requests. |
If this page has been recently modified, it may not reflect the most recent changes. Please purge this page to view the most recent changes. |
Several permissions are requested and handled elsewhere:
If you wish to have any of your permission flags (except administrator) removed, you should contact an administrator. If you want your administrator flag removed, you should contact a bureaucrat.
This is not the place to request review of another user's rights. If you believe someone's actions merit removal of a permission flag, you should raise your concern at the incidents noticeboard.
The bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight flags are removed at meta:Steward requests/Permissions. Stewards will typically not carry out such requests unless they are made on behalf of the Arbitration Committee, by a user who is requesting their own access be removed, or in cases of an emergency.
To make a request for a permission, click "add request" next to the appropriate header and fill in the reason for wanting permission.
Any editor may comment on requests for permission.
Administrators are permitted to grant account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, event coordinator, file mover, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback and template editor flags to any user who meets the criteria explained above and can be trusted not to abuse the tool(s). Administrators may either grant these permissions permanently or temporarily. For convenience, a bot will automatically comment with relevant data if the user does not meet configurable qualifications. Even if the bot does not comment, administrators should review the user's contributions and logs to ensure the tools will be used appropriately and check for any indication of potential misuse.
Once an administrator has granted a permission or decided to deny a request, they should add {{ done}} or {{ not done}} respectively under the request with their comments. If a user already has the requested permission, or is autoconfirmed and requesting confirmed, {{ already done}} should be used. N hours after the last comment was made (as specified by the config), the request will be archived automatically: approved requests will be placed here; declined requests will go here. See User:MusikBot/PermClerk#Archiving for more information on archiving functionality.
Requests for permissions is primarily intended for editors requesting a permission for their own account. Other editors are welcome to comment if they have specific information that is relevant to that request that a patrolling administrator is unlikely to discover for themselves. Otherwise, since only administrators can effectively respond to these requests, general comments or 'clerking' by other users are rarely helpful. Non-administrators cannot "decline" to grant a request, because they're not in a position to accept it.
A limited exception to this is Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled, where third party nominations are encouraged. Other editors should still avoid offering general remarks on requests and leave the final decision to an administrator.
I have created 80 articles, primarily focused on Sinophone cinema and fantasy literature, with 2 currently undergoing GAN. All of my articles have been promptly reviewed, and none of them have been deleted or marked for maintenance. I am requesting autopatrolled rights to alleviate the workload of the patrollers, especially those who actively review film articles and have reviewed the majority of my articles, allowing them to allocate more time to address articles that truly require attention. As a side note, I am a veteran editor with patroller rights on Chinese Wikipedia, having authored over 200 articles, including a dozen featured and good articles. While I fully understand that there are differences in policies and MOS across different Wikipedias, I believe this demonstrates my credibility and knowledge in assessing article quality.— Prince of Erebor( The Book of Mazarbul) 13:18, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

I'm applying for autopatrolled rights for a second time, with my first request being denied in April 2023. The reason for that decline was that my previous articles were tagged for "notability". Since then, I have worked on bringing articles over from the Russian Wikipedia and have had relatively few problems when other editors were reviewing them (I don't bring over everything from those respective pages, so I add a tag for expanding from Russian to let others know that information is still there). I feel like I have learned from what I was doing wrong, and in the process, I have made dozens more articles since the decline. Therefore, I respectfully request that I be granted the autopatrolled permission this time around. Thanks in advance for your consideration. Losipov ( talk) 17:23, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

I got busy in real life for most of March and April, so my request was put on hold per [1]. Here is my original reason for requesting NPR permissions again.
I have over 120 new articles under my belt, mostly relating to medieval history, monasteries, saints, and geographical features. I am familiar with the kinds of content that would fall under CSD criteria, since I have experience wikifying new pages and tagging obviously problematic new pages for speedy deletion. I know the guidelines on notability, proper sourcing, draftifying new articles, rating talk pages using scripts, AfC, AfD, and other essential patrolling tasks. Would be quite happy to reduce the backlog while being cautious and careful. Also currently a Pending Changes Reviewer. Florificapis ( talk) 00:09, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
I would like to participate in the NPP backlog drive.
I participated in the December backlog drive, being granted a trial. At the end of the trial I requested permanent NPP, which was denied with the denying admin expressing concern that I hadn't created any articles. I've since created an article about Neeraj Gupta (refer to User_talk:TarnishedPath/Archive_2#Your_submission_at_Articles_for_creation:_Neeraj_Gupta_(sculptor)_has_been_accepted) and been responsible for the bulk of the material in the newly created article Bruce Lehrmann. I had been working on Draft:Bruce Lehrmann but someone else started work on Bruce Lehrmann just as I submitted Draft:Bruce Lehrmann to AfC so I ended up merging my work over to the mainspace article and issuing a CSD for deletion of the draft. I've continued to be semi-regularly involved with AfD. I'm applying because I got a notification a while ago that there was a backlog drive for May and I'm willing to help out a bit with that. Hello. I was initially given a month long trial as a new page reviewer after receiving an invitation on my user page, and I've been enjoying everything so far: reviewing pages, providing feedback, sending WikiLove to new and returning users who have made exceptional first attempts, tagging issues, and resolving issues myself (that could otherwise be tagged) when I have time in an attempt to reduce the backlog. I have already been renewed once, and my second trial expires in a little over two weeks (May 26th). I'm requesting either an indefinite or longer-term ability to review new pages before my time lapses. Haven't had any behavioral issues, and I try to treat all users with respect. I will continue to help clear the backlog in the meantime. Thanks again. Trainsskyscrapers ( talk) 00:06, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

I was turned down last July 2023 as being too early. I have since increased my article (incl. BLP) creation, and have done major overhaul and expansions of important topic articles here. Hi! I was granted a one month trial with the NPP right and feel as though I did a decent job. I mainly focused on marking obviously acceptable articles. I didn't do a ton of reviewing, but I then again I felt like doing more than a handful a day would have been overstepping the constraints of a trial permission. If it is ok with the coordinating admins, I'd like to keep using the NPP right; feel welcome to simply renew the trial period for another month if you need more indication that I'll stick to procedure. ~ Pbritti ( talk) 13:29, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
I was suggested to apply
here, and I've decided to volunteer. To make this more consistent:
I'm an AFC reviewer and I mostly create articles and review articles relating to biographies, as well as biological or scientific topics. I have DYK, GA, and vast experience with AFD and other noticeboard discussions. I'd like to volunteer in new pages patrolling as well to help reduce the queue. (I most likely won't be reviewing pages daily, but whenever I do, I'd do a thorough review, and I'm very collaborative. I provide feedback and at times amend issues myself of the pages I review).
Note that I've had a name change, so certain stats tool pages might not work properly. And 3 out of 4 of my deleted pages were self delete.
Thanks.

Was hoping to contribute with working on the backlog here. I have rollback and have been working on RCP, but looking to expand my experience a bit. Not much to brag about with new article creation, but there's a limited sample there I stand behind. I'm decently acquainted with the AfD scene, and have been working with new (often problematic) users and editors as best I can from RCP. I was removed from probationary AFC due to inactivity, but I'm planning to be online more in the immediate future. Also have worked with copyvio patrol and have done the oddball GA review. Looking forward to help, and happy to discuss any questions. Thanks! Bgv. ( talk) 21:09, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
I always wanted to review new pages since I became familiar with Wikipedia and had a good behaviour. I also got motivated to post this request when I was granted to the autopatrolled user right without applying for it (an administrator decided it voluntarily). I'll check specially the last pages on "New Pages", which are at the end of the queue, to improve those articles and helping new users by telling the mistakes they have. Thanks in advance. Requesting either an extension or permanent permission, as my 1-month trial is due to expire within approximately 7 days. I've participated in the backlog drive, not as much as I had hoped to due to IRL commitments, but I've received no negative feedback so far and given the size of the backlog (despite the drive) it appears that help in this area is needed.

I was a new page reviewer until earlier this month. As my curation log suggests, while this wasn't the focus of my wikiediting, I occasionally dipped into the backlog to review new articles, a fair few of which I draftified or sent to AfD (so they weren't all easy!). I think my reviews were adequately accurate to demonstrate my suitability for the permission, and I'd like to continue helping to reduce the backlog as my wikiediting time allows. Thanks! I am a German Wikipedian and have been active on enwiki as a vandalism fighter since April, mostly using Twinkle sind SWViewer and always warning editors after reverting their contributions. Currently I have made almost 800 Edits here, which mostly consist of vandalism control. On dewiki I am member of the CVU, have more than 17000 edits as well as rollback rights. [3] I would like to be granted rollback rights as they would allow me fighting vandalism more efficiently and faster. Thanks Ankermast ( talk) 08:24, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
For more than a year, I have been reverting vandalism on numerous wikis. I'm rather skilled at identifying vandalism. I have made over 8,000 additions to the English Wikipedia, 700 edits to the Simple English Wikipedia, and around 800,000 edits to Commons. I edit a great deal. I'm always here to keep the wiki safe—in fact, I've been editing every day since December 27. That being said, I require the rollbacker to aid in the quicker and more effective removal of vandalism in our articles. It will also allow me to use AntiVandal, which makes sporting vandalism more simpler. I'll be careful not to rollback good faith edits as that's against the rollback policy.
Forgot to re-apply before the permission ran out. Would like to continue participating in the drive as well as afterwards. — ♠ Ixtal ( T / C ) ⁂ Sign up for the 2024 DCWC! — Non nobis solum ♠ 06:12, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
I was turned down last July 2023 as being too early. I have since increased my article (incl. BLP) creation, and have done major overhaul and expansions of important topic articles here. I remain autopatrolled on Wikipedia and WikiCommons, continue to participate in AfD, and have done some PRODS. Am willing to learn the NPP process. Thank you. Hello. I had the new page reviewer permission but for some reason it was taken away without any explanation. I would like to apply for it again or at least get the reasoning for the removal of my permission Rahammz ( talk) 01:43, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
I noticed there is a backlog at Wikipedia:New pages patrol, so I'd be happy to help! The Sharpest Lives ( contribs) 16:49, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Pinging @
Spicy as a courtesy, given they've granted the trial.

Thanks! Reason for requesting: I've been following up with the NPP & AfC backlogs. There are still 9200+ articles and 28600+ redirects to be reviewed. There are also 2900+ pending AfC submissions. I want to volunteer for helping out in reviewing new pages and AfC submissions to reduce the backlogs. Vestrian24Bio ( TALK) 15:05, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
Hello, I will like to request to be giving the rights of a new page reviewer, I’m an experienced Wikipedia editor and I’ve worked on different articles, I wish to be giving a trials so I could support the community, thanks. Madeforall1 ( talk) 10:51, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
Trial ends June 16, and backlog drive is nearly over. I am reapplying early since some requests may not be answered after two weeks from now. I would like to review more pages and hopefully clear down the backlog. I have reviewed more than 100 articles so far and only very few were unreviewed. Please consider my reviews and AfDs before processing my application. Toadette Edit! 18:20, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
Experienced editor wanting to contribute to the new page backlog. I was recently granted a trial and did review some pages during that time, but I believe the trial has now expired. I've done reverting vandalism (Although I was on a hiatus since Golden Week as the vandal level hit 5) for some months now, with my edits growing over 2000 from 89ish including other works, and I request this permission to help with the works. I understand that I did make a misunderstandment couple of weeks ago and I have revised the guidelines to prevent another instance of that happening. (I've been making sure not to miss placing a uw as well). Not planning to request rollbacker until I stop making accidents. ABG ( Talk/Report any mistakes here) 01:34, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
I have made some very high quality articles ( Aston Martin DB9 FA and Aston Martin Rapide at FAC) so I am very familiar with what content is reliable and what is not. I have reverted vandalism (in fact, reverting vandalism was the first edit I made) and whenever i seen vandalism, I take extreme pride in reverting it. Best 750 h+ 13:28, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

I think I have a decent understanding of Wikipedia's policies. I've monitored recent changes and have mostly reverted vandalism whenever I see it, trying my best to always warn them. I think that being a pending changes reviewer will help me continue to positively contribute to Wikipedia. GoldRomean ( talk) 18:15, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi! I think there are a couple tasks for which I could make good use of this permission. My primary use case is carefully renaming templates so that their names comply with WP:TPN. (You can see a bunch of move requests I have made at WP:RMT.) I also was recently appointed as a trainee clerk for ArbCom ( verify) and the other non-admin clerk was granted the perm because it would be useful for clerking. Hi! I guess I would require this for doing certain edits with respect to certain templates, particularly with respect to Indian territories and transport. I have been making edits to templates within the ambit possible, but there are a couple of protected templates which would need additions (E.g. rint updation). So, it will be useful to have this. Thanks! Magentic Manifestations ( talk) 11:48, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
I would like to request temporary template-editor userrights on en.wiki primarily to help out with converting templates to be dark mode compatible. :) Sohom ( talk) 14:17, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
