Hello, I am a member of a research group at Palo Alto Research Center (formerly known as Xerox PARC) studying how conflicts occur and resolve on Wikipedia. Due to your experience in conflict resolution on Wikipedia (e.g., as a member of the Mediation Cabal) we’re extremely interested in your insights on this topic. We have a survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=400792384029 which we are inviting a few selected Wikipedians to participate in, and we would be extremely appreciative if you would take the time to complete it. As a token of our gratitude, we would like to present you with a PARC research star upon completion. Thank you for your time.

Hi, Sceptre. It's lancelott from the Special Ops IRC chat. Never knew you got around to becoming a Wikipedia admin. How is that treating you? You remember me, don't you? Lancelott
How did I find out? I was linked to a page from Wikipedia Watch (which is apparently censored) from an IRC chat and saw that "Sceptre" was listed as an admin. The only Sceptre I knew was the one from IRC, and I knew it was you because you were from the UK. Lancelott

¡Hello!
¿How fare you?
I am Ŭalabio‽. I just thought that you should know that an anonymous user from AOL left a message on my talkpage claiming to be you:
You are the youngest admin I ever met. I wish that I had a project like WikiPedia.Org when I was your age. I had projects I did with my bright classmates, but they left no permanent mark on the world. With WikiPedia.Org, one can make a mark on the world at any age, if one is bright enough. I myself started articles like Pangæa Ultima, Pannotia et al.
I do not edit much around here lately because I started mine own wiki called PeaceFulBeginnings.Org. It is the first wiki devoted to Intactivism — ¿can you believe that some people hate pleasure so much that they destroy erogenous tissue on other people? Eloquence hosts it on Myoo.De. You are free to drop by and participate, if you want.
You are so lucky to have WikiPedia.Org. When I was a teenager, we did not have it. In My twenties we had UseNet. Unfortunately, by its very nature, contributions to UseNet are ephemeral. At any rate, the “brain-dead me-too AOLers” as Weird Al Yankovic calls them and the spammers ruined UseNet. Now, looking back in my thirties, although I can make a more permanet mark on the world at WikiPedia.Org, I miss the intellectual stimulus of discourse on the UseNetNewsGroups.
¡Thanks!

Hi. I think you may have been a little overzealous at MOBBSTAR. I had just put a copyvio notice on it, which I believe is the correct thing for non-commercial violations, when you deleted it. I think it's worth giving such pages a few days. If nothing else, having the copyvio notice makes it clear to the submitter why their contributions been refused. Otherwise they just look for it , find it's gone, and recreate it. DJ Clayworth 14:27, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Will, I wonder would you consider lifting CyrilleDunant's block? I have explained my reservations here. The "personal attack" was a fairly mild one, and was made the day before the block. There are few editors who remain absolutely civil at all times, so personal attack blocks are, in my experience, reserved for repeat offenders or for fairly serious attacks. Furthermore, the three-revert rule is not generally enforced against users who remove unwanted messages from their own talk pages. Removal of unwanted messages is considered uncivil by some, but there is no policy against it. I'd be more strict in the case of a vandal removing legitimate vandalism warnings, but this was simply an argument between two established users. Rex took exception to Cyrille's post, and reported it at WP:PAIN. His report was removed because he hadn't warned Cyrille. He then (i.e. the next day) warned him, although there had been no new "attack", and replaced the warning three times. After Cyrille had been blocked, he replaced it a fourth time, which in my view was a 3RR violation, and was also an example of kicking someone who was down. I warned Rex on his talk page, and he apologized. I haven't been involved in any of the dispute, and only have an imperfect knowledge of the background, but Rex has three recent 3RR blocks (in less than two months), so does seem to have a problem with consensus, and I think if I had been dealing with it, I would just have told the two of them to calm down and go back to writing an encyclopaedia. As David Gerard said last October, if someone removes a warning from his talk page, we know he's seen it, and it's in the history, if it's needed later (for an RfC, for example), so putting it back has no purpose except harassment. Again, I do agree that it's different when someone who has committed clear vandalism removes a {{ test3}} warning from his talk page. Anyway, that's my view on the subject, so I'm hoping that you'll consider lifting the block, or at least giving me your blessing if I do. I won't overrule you, though, if you feel that the block should stand. Cheers. AnnH ♫ 17:41, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
