From Wikipedia:Reliable sources
Seems appropriate to use as a criticism in the article, as long as you specify the source ("... journal of animal liberation group ..." or something like that). The fact that a show about animals is criticized by animal rights activists is important, and ICAS and/or CALA seem like a notable animal rights journal and organization respectively from what you've written here and our article. It is an edited journal, which says nothing about neutral, all that means is that it's not just one person ranting, the article is approved by some kind of organization. We can't expect criticism to come from NPOV sources, criticism is inherently POV. OK, I'll have a look at the dog over the next few days. It's a lot tougher than GAN. Make sure everything is consistent with WP:MOS, eg ndashes for page ranges, check the prose for any ambiguities or grammatical errors. Refs must be impeccably RS, and formatted consistently. The only real outstanding issue is a bunch of stuff that is in the Handbook of the Birds of the World that probably isn't in the sources you have, which would be unreasonable to expect you to add. The Australian Cattle Dog is a breed of herding dog originally developed in Australia for droving cattle over long distances across rough terrain. Crossbred in the 19th century from Australian dingoes and dogs from Northumberland, the Australian Cattle Dog is a medium-sized, short-coated dog that occurs in two main colour forms: with either brown or black hair distributed through a white coat, termed a "red" or a "blue" dog. It has been nicknamed a "Red Heeler" or "Blue Heeler" on the basis of this colouring and its practice of moving reluctant cattle by nipping at their heels. As with dogs from other working breeds, the Australian Cattle Dog has a high level of energy, a quick intelligence, and an independent streak. A robust breed, it has a lifespan of 12 to 14 years. It responds well to structured training and forms a strong attachment with its owners. Australian Cattle Dogs now participate in a range of activities beyond the herding they were bred to do, including competing with their owners in dog sporting events and working as assistance dogs. Is there any chance that meeting up with friendly Sydneysiders might tempt you out of retirement? There is a backstage pass coming up to be followed by an editathon in the State Library of New South Wales on Saturday 23 November. I'm hoping you might be able to make it down the big smoke for the occasion. This is the first time that an Australian cultural institution has opened its doors to us in this way and will be a special opportunity because the Library is providing: one of its best rooms; its expert curators (along with their expertise and their white gloves); a newly launched website (containing new resources); and of course, items from its collection (including rare and usually unavailable material) which we can look at, learn from, and use, to improve WP articles. For example, on the chosen topic (Australia and WWI), the Library holds many diaries and manuscripts from the period.

Although I believe that your edit was WP:AGF, unfortunately you did not comply with WP:CITE as your information came from a poor quality website that provided a mistruth using Power as the cited source - Power said no such thing. As a result, Wikipedia has reflected this mistruth for the past 6 years. If you had have cited the website instead, another editor may have questioned its quality a long time ago and got to the truth. The only real outstanding issue is a bunch of stuff that is in the Handbook of the Birds of the World that probably isn't in the sources you have, which would be unreasonable to expect you to add. The Australian Cattle Dog is a breed of herding dog originally developed in Australia for droving cattle over long distances across rough terrain. Crossbred in the 19th century from Australian dingoes and dogs from Northumberland, the Australian Cattle Dog is a medium-sized, short-coated dog that occurs in two main colour forms: with either brown or black hair distributed through a white coat, termed a "red" or a "blue" dog. It has been nicknamed a "Red Heeler" or "Blue Heeler" on the basis of this colouring and its practice of moving reluctant cattle by nipping at their heels. As with dogs from other working breeds, the Australian Cattle Dog has a high level of energy, a quick intelligence, and an independent streak. A robust breed, it has a lifespan of 12 to 14 years. It responds well to structured training and forms a strong attachment with its owners. Australian Cattle Dogs now participate in a range of activities beyond the herding they were bred to do, including competing with their owners in dog sporting events and working as assistance dogs. Is there any chance that meeting up with friendly Sydneysiders might tempt you out of retirement? There is a backstage pass coming up to be followed by an editathon in the State Library of New South Wales on Saturday 23 November. I'm hoping you might be able to make it down the big smoke for the occasion. This is the first time that an Australian cultural institution has opened its doors to us in this way and will be a special opportunity because the Library is providing: one of its best rooms; its expert curators (along with their expertise and their white gloves); a newly launched website (containing new resources); and of course, items from its collection (including rare and usually unavailable material) which we can look at, learn from, and use, to improve WP articles. For example, on the chosen topic (Australia and WWI), the Library holds many diaries and manuscripts from the period.
As you can see from the Library's project page, they have connected this editathon with their own work. They have already set out a wide range of resources to make things easier for us. At 12:06 on 20 February 2010 you made an edit to the
Dog page with an edit summary of "As pets: Included information under heading". Amongst the text provided was one sentence: "Another study of dogs’ roles in families showed that many dogs have set tasks or routines undertaken as family members, the most common of which was helping with the washing-up by licking the plates in the dishwasher, and bringing in the newspaper from the lawn."

Although I believe that your edit was WP:AGF, unfortunately you did not comply with WP:CITE as your information came from a poor quality website that provided a mistruth using Power as the cited source - Power said no such thing. As a result, Wikipedia has reflected this mistruth for the past 6 years. If you had have cited the website instead, another editor may have questioned its quality a long time ago and got to the truth.
