Hello @ David Fuchs,
I stumbled upon your user page and read that you are experienced with everything revolving around GA/N. I am planning to nominate an article for the first time and was looking for someone to talk about the process. You were also writing on the articles talk page already, its Hogwarts Legacy. I was just wondering if you are interested to scan the text if anything crucial is missing? I am now familiar with Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Sources and followed WP:MOSVG closely. If there is something missing, I would gladly take the time to fix it.
I am also interested in reviewing articles myself, and actually wanted to do so on a specific one already. When I read the instructions, I noticed that it almost certainly falls into the quick fail category, and the explanations on how to do so are not very clear. I checked WP:GAFAIL and it directs to a template. I was able to generate the template on my sandbox as a test, but it was not explained where to add it exactly. I am talking about Maid of Sker (video game).
And lastly, if you are not available for these questions or do not have the time for it, is there a preferable place to ask these questions? Vestigium Leonis ( talk) 19:33, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Hello David Fuchs! I've noticed you have access to ProQuest. I was wondering can you update some of the Bethesda Softworks game articles (their games from 1986 till 1999) with sources from there.(Like USA Today for example and other trade journals) that Newspapers.com doesn't have. I've typed "Bethesda Softworks" in the search function(and soft by oldest first) and there are 5,175 results (by page 13 ish the till 1999 results show up). On 20 March 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Luna Park, Alexandria, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that when Luna Park opened in 1906, the first program included "comedy sheep"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Luna Park, Alexandria. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page ( here's how, Luna Park, Alexandria), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hello @ David Fuchs. I'm hoping to bring the video game article Skullgirls to FAC eventually. I opened up a peer review for it, and listed a request for mentorship on the FAC talkpage, but neither of them received responses. I recently added a post on WP:VG's talkpage for the peer review, but as far as the mentorship goes, I was wondering if you'd be interested at all. Only you and Masem have video games listed as your areas of interest on the WP:FAM page, but I already tried Masem and didn't receive a reply. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you today for the article, introduced (in 2020): "Produced by a small team almost as an afterthought, Minerva's Den has been called one of the greatest video game expansions of all time, and served as a stepping stone to one of the most popular games in the "walking simulator" subgenre."! -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 06:33, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Sasha Waters is no longer on wikipedia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Melcous ( talk) 12:34, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

For future reference, the Daily Express is not a deprecated source, nor is everything it prints unreliable – one just needs to crosscheck it against, say, the horse's mouth. I will be replying to the previous comment you left on my talk page in due course, when I have time to compose a considered response. ( Edwin of Northumbria ( talk) 02:47, 9 August 2023 (UTC))
True, but the source was simply summarizing what was said in the Daily Express (DE), which I chose not to cite directly because their webpage contained so much advertising that on a mobile phone it was difficult finding the text. I have looked at the relevant documentation, and feel I cannot respond to your comment that the Daily Star Trek News (DST) is "clearly not a high-quality reliable source" unless you explain why you believe this to be the case. For future reference, therefore, I would grateful if you could supply further information. I agree that the DE should be treated with caution as a source, but in this instance it was essentially repeating only what Sirtis had said previously.
As regards your final remark (in parentheses), one source gave the date of the premiere whereas the other did not. However, given that even "high-quality" sources frequently disagree, I consider it good practice to supply at least two sources to support each statement wherever possible. ( Edwin of Northumbria ( talk) 23:28, 9 August 2023 (UTC))
Hello, a bit of time has passed since you opened a GA review for Jonathan Blow. Do you have a rough estimate of when you plan to begin the review? It will help me plan my coming weeks. Cheers, Neuroxic ( talk) 15:08, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

The August 2023 Good Article Nominations Backlog Drive is at the halfway mark, and has seen incredible progress, dropping the backlog from 638 to 359 unreviewed articles -- a 43.7% reduction in only fifteen days! I just wanted to say thanks for your recommendations and final cleanups of Jonathan Blow. For most articles I work on, for most of the time it feels like I'm the only one who's making any substantial improvements. As such, I feel very fortunate whenever anyone actually does an in-depth look at an article I've worked on. The amount of time it takes to do a close read of something, let alone leave detailed comments, is not lost on me, and I'm super appreciative of your time. Re. Your recent edit to Star Trek: First Contact. Firstly, I see no reason why information should be removed because it is only from one source, providing that source is a reliable one (and it Braga who is quoted therein). Secondly, the sentence does not necessarily imply that Data was Da Vinci's apprentice in "Concerning Flight", as use of the word "adapted" suggests. However, if you felt this was an issue, you could have amended the sentence quite easily rather than deleting it. Thirdly, what constitutes trivia in this context is very much a subjective issue, and it is not unreasonable to state that a discarded idea from the script was used elsewhere (the information comes from a book about First Contact, after all). In summary, therefore, I do not feel that you have provided sufficient justification to remove the sentence. ( Edwin of Northumbria ( talk) 05:37, 31 August 2023 (UTC))
The point is that Braga has stated that the idea came from First Contact, and Mulgrew has confirmed it was Braga's idea (her other statements do not necessarily contradict this where they provide a different degree of detail, which is made fairly clear from the aforementioned article). It would be synthesis to imply that Mulgrew stated the idea came from First Contact, but that wasn't the case here (
WP:SYNTHNOT: "If something is obvious to anyone who reads and understands the sources that are supposed to support it, then it's not SYNTH"). However, if one were to to preclude the deleted sentence from inclusion in the article on the grounds that sources disagree, then other information would need to be removed (or at least qualified) as well – the worldwide box office take, to give a simple example, is sometimes (as
here) quoted as $150 million.
As to whether I'm "constantly adding in factoids [...]", as far as I'm aware we are talking about three examples here. The song was undoubtedly a tangential point, which is why I added it as a note to begin with, and had no objection to its removal. The other instances are in my opinion less clear-cut, because they add context to the article (as required by
WP:FA?). In this respect, just as it is reasonable to discuss how the film was influenced by past events, it is reasonable to mention (briefly) how the film influenced subsequent ones. It is a simply a matter of balance, and two sentences do not constitute major digressions within the scope of lengthy article. The matter of the new uniforms being used in DS9 can actually be considered part of the marketing campaign for First Contact, and was one of the few things Berman thought worthy of mentioning about the film even though he was being interviewed at the time of its release. (
Edwin of Northumbria (
talk) 23:57, 31 August 2023 (UTC))
When you say "Adding the statement", could you please clarify which one you're talking about? ( Edwin of Northumbria ( talk) 03:15, 1 September 2023 (UTC))
Thanks, that wasn't completely clear, because the fact that there was some degree of causality is precisely the point. If one accepts the statements of Braga and (in the source I referred to) Mulgrew to be true, then it is quite correct to state that the idea was adapted for Voyager. The key word is "adapted" = (as used transitively) "to fit, change, or modify to suit a new or different purpose" (Collins English Dictionary). Moreover, I would suggest that causal relationships are key in deciding what does and does not constitute trivia. To give an example, compare the statements "Actor X had dyed her hair red for a previous film" and "Actor X had dyed her hair red for a previous film, which the director admitted had influenced his decision to cast her in the role of a redhead". If the role in question is being discussed, then the former statement is more obviously trivia than the latter. I am in no way proposing that it is desirable to stuff articles with trivia, nor would I want to. In this particular instance, the issue is entirely that if it is non-trivial to discuss where script ideas (or anything else) came from, then there is no logical reason why it should be trivial to say where they went to.
I have, incidentally, sought clarification from Bournemouth University regarding their hosting of the draft script, although it would be extremely unusual for a UK university to do so in contravention of UK copyright law, even if only unwittingly. I see no need to dwell on the matter in the absence of further information. ( Edwin of Northumbria ( talk) 00:26, 3 September 2023 (UTC))

Re the ANI discussion on Dicklyon, I noticed these two questionable responses that were added today:
[1] &
[2] It just seems incredibly odd that this user would comment on this discussion. They have minimal edits, and these two edits are their first in the past 7 months. They've never participated in ANI, and as far as I can tell, they don't seem to have any previous history with the MoS, with me, with Dicklyon, or other editors "notable" in the discussion (such as SMcCandlish and Thryduulf), which makes their comment that this is motivated by old grudges
seem strange (at least to me). Given the contentious nature of this and past discussions around Dicklyon, the odd nature of this addition to the discussion seems suspect, but with no real evidence on my part. The way I see it (which I'm willing to contend could be totally off-base) is that given that the JWB ban will likely pass, if someone was socking/meating and wanted to look less obvious, I would think they would support the JWB ban in order to get in their real objective to oppose the MOS TBAN. Possibly more likely meatpuppet as their history appears to be consistent with a good faith editor whose principal interest is linguistics, so it just seems really odd.
Do you consider yourself not too involved to be neutral in this discussion to look into it? ButlerBlog ( talk) 14:48, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

The article Luna Park, Alexandria you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Luna Park, Alexandria for comments about the article, and Talk:Luna Park, Alexandria/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility.

Hi David, I'm seeing that the word-count for the plot summary is at 427 words, which you described as well within guidelines. However, WP:TVPLOT appears to call for a maximum of 400 words.

For most articles I work on, for most of the time it feels like I'm the only one who's making any substantial improvements. As such, I feel very fortunate whenever anyone actually does an in-depth look at an article I've worked on.

Hello. My adding of certain categories to that page was not speciation, but fair assessment of groups/categories that the flood are technically part of (zombies, monsters, whatnot). What do you think is incorrect about this? Firekong1 ( talk) 21:14, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review
the candidates and submit your choices on the
voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{

David Fuchs, you opened this GA review page on September 20, and have yet to return to post your review. As far as I can, both you and the nominator are active. If you intend to conduct the review, please do so soon; otherwise, perhaps you could G6 the page so the article can be placed back into the pool of unreviewed nominations. Thank you very much.
