Ratings inconsistencies

Hi, Don't understand why not saved my edit summary in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012 TV series) (season 1) but check the references please. Thanks -- Connie (A.K) ( talk) 02:12, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

@ La Avatar Korra: Hi, you're looking in the wrong places. I believe @ Geraldo Perez: has explained this to you. In this edit, you changed the first episode from 3.2 to 2.2. But in the reference if you scroll down to where the Nick fellow talk about Saturday Nickelodeon ratings, the data says:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Nickelodeon)-11 AM: 3.246 million viewers, 0.74 A18-49

Since Saturday is TMNT's premiere day, we use those ratings, not the Sunday ratings, and 3.246 rounds down to 3.2. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 02:20, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
Aah, thank you so much!!. So the information was of comments. Ok I realize. Thanks!! -- Connie (A.K) ( talk) 02:27, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

October 2013

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Rocket Monkeys: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 10:50, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

@ Dogmaticeclectic: Hi, thanks for the tip. I'm quite familiar with user warnings. In fact, the warning you placed on the talk page of the user in question, falls directly beneath a template I used on them. In the case of Rocket Monkeys, I didn't perceive the user's edits as malicious, only misguided and innocuous. Having noticed a number of other problems with the article, I opted to fix them, and detailed the rationale in my edit summary, for that person's edification. Regards, Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 15:44, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
I agree regarding the nature of the edits, but that's why there are other user warning templates besides those for vandalism. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 22:54, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
@ Dogmaticeclectic: Which template would you have recommended I use in this case? Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 23:25, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
The same one I used, perhaps? Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 23:26, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
@ Dogmaticeclectic: Why would I have warned the editor for disruptive editing if I didn't find the edit disruptive? Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 23:28, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
AFAIK, "disruptive" isn't really a matter of opinion; it's simply when controversial edits are made without discussion. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 23:30, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Iron_Projects

I find your mechanic analogy completely innacurate and insulting.

It only illistrates you fail to understand what is being presented to you, or deliberately ignore evidence and exaggerate others to re-inforce you original judgement.

1. Second most amount of votes for "best live act in the country". Whether you call it second, or placed, or runner-up it is unequivicoly second place. 2. Mentioned as an influence to a signed artist. 3. Performed with now successful artists, your mechanic analogy would be more like you are an american singer who performed with the ratpack of australian hiphop before they were famous, aswell as being in a duo with elvis when he was in his teens.

As for the "close ups".. They feature throughout the entire clip, the close-ups were only referenced so you could verify them easily). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sketcher man ( talkcontribs) 19:57, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

@ Sketcher man: The article has already been deleted, so there's no need for me to address any more specifics. And, I just don't think there's any answer you will accept other than the one you want to hear. As to your claim that I am deliberately ignoring evidence, that's a shortsighted opinion; your article went before other editors who shared the same view of your "evidence", so please don't pin it all on me. I don't know what you found insulting about my mechanic analogy; it wasn't meant to be insulting. I still think it's an apt parallel considering you were trying to assemble notability from scraps of information and from INFERENCES that you expected us to make, based on who Iron Projects had as friends, or what government websites Iron Projects appeared on, etc. On your talk page on October 13, I pointed you in the direction Wikipedia's general notability guidelines. If you read that again, you might be able to glean why the other editors and I didn't think that you'd made a strong case, from lack of "significant coverage" and very few "reliable sources". But, that's ultimately on you to figure out. Take care, Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 21:50, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

If you see someone make a common mistake, try to politely point out what they did wrong and how to correct it. Thank you. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 22:06, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

@ Dogmaticeclectic: What message did I leave for Tristan.andrade.136? Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 22:45, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
I'm referring to the edit summary at this article: Totally Spies! Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 22:46, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
I didn't leave that message specifically to them. I left it for any and all editors to understand my rationale for the reversion. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 22:52, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
Yet the WP:BITE aspect of it was clearly present: "Incomprehensible"? Seriously? I "comprehended" it just fine. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 22:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
Cool. So politely point out to them what they did wrong and offer them guidance on how to correct it. Surely you're not suggesting that the generic L3 unsourced content warning you slapped on their talk page is any less biting or more edifying? Your first interaction with the user appears to be a final warning template you applied on their talk page. You didn't seem terribly concerned about biting n00bz then, so I'm confused about what specific lesson you are trying to teach me. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 03:11, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
My warnings actually made sense. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 03:18, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012 TV series) (season 2)

I noticed that you recently reverted my edit to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012 TV series) (season 2), because the information that I added in my edit was unsourced. I have sources to prove the information, The reason I'm not adding sources is that I don't know how to add references to articles, so I need someone (possibly you) to add the sources to the article for me. Here is a link to the source that I got the information from: http://nickalive.blogspot.ca/2013/11/sneak-peek-of-brand-new-teenage-mutant.html. Just click the link to see a video proving everything that I added. XXX8906 ( talk) 12:39, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

@ XXX8906: Hi there, you might want to check out Referencing for beginners. That should help you out. At the top of your edit window, you should see the word "Cite". Pull that down and select "Cite web". Paste the URL where appropriate, copy the name of the page, if applicable, and whatever other values you can provide, including the publication date (if you see it on the page), and the date you accessed the source. That's the short answer.
The bigger issue though, is that you need to be using reliable sources for the information you are submitting. Reliable sources tend to have clear editorial oversight (newspapers, TV news reports, journals, books, magazines) that govern the material being presented, and that have some form of fact-checking. Blogs (although with some exceptions) are typically not considered reliable sources. You might want to ask over at Wikiproject Television to see if they would consider that blog a reliable source. I would be inclined to revert additions that cited NickALive unless the community agreed that it was okay. Please remember also that when you submit any information about a FUTURE event, it must be supported by a source, or it will be cut. See WP:CRYSTAL. Hope this helps, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask; I'm happy to help, and I know that Wikipedia can be intimidating and frustrating with all its rules. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 20:58, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

I asked about it at Wikiproject Television, and the answer I got said that as a general rule, blogs are not considered a reliable source of information. However, in the reply, they also said that even though it's a blog, that does not mean that it does not contain reliable sources within it's posts, because they said that since that it is quoting an article from IGN UK, and IGN is considered a reliable source, thus, using the IGN (original source) is fine. So I will use this as a source for the information. XXX8906 ( talk) 23:17, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Wow, you're the new owner? Congratulations! Gotta warn you, it's not easy here. Just to get you up to speed, this place is full of idiot vandals who have nothing more constructive to do with their lives than vandalize an encyclopedia that lets ANYBODY edit. Like, it doesn't even require a brain cell to vandalize! I hope you figure out how to stop that stuff! I'll give you my credit card number after you put all the vandals in cyber jail. Episodes aired

Are you not able to read and understand the internal note on what it plainly says? Don't revert the number of episodes aired backwards again, or I'll be forced to report you for WP:Vandalism. Katydidit ( talk) 10:32, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

@ Katydidit: Why are you assuming bad faith and dropping me this unnecessarily condescending note? Is this how you like other editors to approach you? The edit in question was here. It was not obvious to me what you were intending to communicate, because your addition was neither a complete sentence, nor did your edit summary "Box, 19 eps" clearly communicate your change. In retrospect, I probably should have checked to see how many episodes aired. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 18:27, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
The internal note clearly stated it was to show how many episodes have actually aired. I don't know how you could not understand that easily understood description. That's why I believed you were just doing vandalism since you reverted it without any legitimate cause or reason. Katydidit ( talk) 19:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Rescue Heroes (TV series)

I only listed in the minor recurring characters section the characters with the voice actors that I could find. I did not include all of the minor characters listed in the article Rescue Heroes since I could not find the voice actors for them; for example, Aidan Assist. If you could find the actors for the following characters, that would be great:

  • Aidan Assist
  • Ben Choppin
  • Brandon Irons
  • Captain Cuffs
  • Kenny Ride
  • Maureen Biologist
  • Perry Chute
  • Rock Miner
  • Seymore Wilde

I checked www.imdb.com and www.tv.com but could only find the voice actors for some of them, and I looked at the end credits for some episodes of the TV series as well. I looked at episodes that had Aidan Assist and Ben Choppin in them but they did not have the characters or voice actors listed in the end credits, even though the characters had a role in the story. Thanks for any help you can give, I appreciate it. Ziva 84 ( talk) 01:15, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Dogmaticeclectic, it's not clear from your impersonal template how my edit summary was inaccurate or inappropriate, or more importantly, how my edit summary materially differed from the edit summary you left, that you felt a warning was necessary. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 06:12, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
I'm objecting to this portion of the edit summary in question: "Restoring status quo." Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 06:17, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Ohhhhhh. And? Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 06:27, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
What I mean is that the actual status quo was what I restored. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 06:30, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Point noted. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 06:36, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Please note that your latest edit summary at the article is also inaccurate - if you're going to use quotation marks, you really should make sure that what is between them is actually correct. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 04:24, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Should I? Why? Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 04:30, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
If you want to paraphrase, you shouldn't use quotation marks. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 04:31, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Is that in the MOS? Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 04:33, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
I'm simply referring to the purpose of quotation marks in general - unless, of course, you were using scare quotes, but that would be a WP:CIVILITY violation (and a WP:AGF violation on my part to assume it). Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 04:38, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
I don't know what scare quotes are. You said that I "really should make sure that what is between them is actually correct". Why should I really make sure that what is between them is actually correct? It seemed important enough for you to say it, and I asked you a direct question about it, but you never answered that question. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 04:41, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Sigh... it's important enough because you are misusing quotation marks, you're quoting me, and I object to it. Also, you could have simply looked up the article on scare quotes - we're on Wikipedia after all. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 04:45, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Sigh... I could have looked it up, but it was your hypothetical scenario, and since you're motivated to educate me, that should include a complete lesson. As for what you "object to", you don't genuinely expect other editors to be sympathetic to your objections when you attempt to micromanage those same editors' decisions and issue unnecessary reprimands for non-critical oversights, do you? List of Totally spies characters

I put flagicon near the voice actors of characters but I put the country flag according to there country and would you like me to link you when I put new recurring characters (New research)From: User:Tristan.andrade.136

@ Tristan.andrade.136: I'm having difficulty understanding what you are telling me/asking me. If you are referring to this edit (for example), I'd say that this is probably not an appropriate use of flagicons. The prose section of articles should be written in prose. It's also important to note that we need to make our articles accessible for those with limited vision, so flag icons may not achieve this. A good rule of thumb: If you're not editing lists of boxing or other sports statistics, you should probably avoid using flag icons. For more information, read the Manual of Style for Icons Happy Holidays, Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 17:41, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Season 9 episode of SB

I notice you took of the airdate for It Came From Goo Lagoon. However the airdate is true. Nickelodeon showed a promo for it today however there is no website I know of saying it yet. WWEUndertakerfan ( talk) 01:09, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

@ WWEUndertakerfan: When a [[WP:RS|reliable source}} becomes available to corroborate that date, it can remain. There is a long history of date vandalism on that article so the bar for verifiability has been raised. Nickelodeon is very inconsistent about its own programming schedule anyway, so I wouldn't trust a promo even if I saw it with my own eyes. Since Wikipedia is neither an up-to-date news source or a TVGuide, there's no rush to incorporate this information. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 03:20, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

The Nightmare Room response and TMNT

I have read your message revolving around the edits for The Nightmare Room revolving around your prevention of overlinks (which I haven't been doing lately over on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles page). Though on The Nightmare Room page, I had to put the opening narration over the episodes section and elaborated more on narrations provided by James Avery (the original Shredder back in the 1980s series). As for the 2012 version of TMNT, I had previously moved Sir Malachi to the supporting characters section since the creators didn't confirm if he was friend or foe. As for Tiger Claw, I can't say what tiger he is. That will be for his debut to decide. Are you looking forward to the debut of some new characters once the second half of TMNT's season 2 begins? Did I also leave anything out of this discussion? Rtkat3 ( talk) 10:01, December 27 2013 (UTC)

Totally Spies Country

How do they choose totally spies country of origin I mean how do choose the country please reply to me when you get the time to reply From: User:Tristan.andrade.136

@ Tristan.andrade.136: Hi Tristan, I don't think I understand your question. The country of origin is typically the country that produces the show. If the show is a joint venture between two companies, and the companies are in different countries, then there would be two countries of origin. So if Totally Spies is made by a French company, the country of origin would be France. If it's a Canadian show, the country of origin would be Canada. If both companies produce the show, France and Canada would be the countries of origin. For more information about the infobox, see Template:Infobox_television. Did that help? you showed great professionalism in your recent letter to me about reverting the smith and wesson 422 wiki page, especially your comment about my mental capacities for reasoning. i will probably not attempt to assist wiki in any way ever in the future [monetarily or otherwise] due to you and the experience of this. hopefully your lack of restraint in containing your personal feelings and this outburst was merely your possible aversion to the topic of guns and what might be considered a Freudian slip on your part. i can only hope you do not disrespect everyone that [in your opinion] improperly attempts to honestly and genuinely assist wiki on other topics as well. please have a happy holiday and a happy new-year cyphoid-bomb. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.249.189.18 ( talk) 07:23, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

@ 99.249.189.18: I mentioned nothing about your ability to reason, I criticized your attempt to personalize a live article by drawing attention to yourself, a criticism I stand by, as you would neither expect to open a printed encyclopedia and read that Joe in Your-State-Here once owned a 422, nor would you expect to open a TVGuide and read "Joe likes this show". I invited you to resubmit your edit with proper sourcing and without the unnecessary self-promotion. The use of the word "absurd" was not my best choice. I apologize for that. @ MattBoo: Hey m'man, thanks for the note. I don't doubt that Boomerang will rerun the series. My revert had nothing to do with right vs. wrong. A common problem editors find in articles, particularly articles involving children's television, is that they are rarely, if ever, sourced, and when they are sourced, the sources are usually poor. (Facebook posts, Wikia, blogs like Nickandmore.com, rumors) So please don't take it personally that your edit was reverted--there are a lot of rules at Wikipedia. Future events need to be properly sourced per WP:CRYSTAL. I can't vouch for the reliability of locatetv.com, and there seem to be some questions about its suitability as a source. Please remember that Wikipedia is not a live news source, and that there is no rush to submit information, which means we can take our time and wait for a reliable source instead of posting whispers. Regards, Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 19:04, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
The thing is, I couldn't find any other source. -- MattBoo ( talk) 00:22, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
@ MattBoo: Yeah, that can be annoying. Since Wikipedia is not TV Guide, there's no necessity that we include the information, especially before Boomerang starts airing those eps. If the eps air, then it might be worthy of inclusion. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 00:29, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi Cyphoidbomb,

I find the response by Nechlison to this question worrying. Why is a user who has contributed to only one article, giving rather assertive advice to another? I don't know what is behind this, and I don't feel qualified to intervene, but I would appreciate your views. Maproom ( talk) 21:49, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey @ Maproom:, oh, I agree! That account went on the radar quickly when I saw it earlier today. (In fact, his brand new User Page badges inspired me to help a few people at {{helpme}} today.) I'm not an admin, so the best I can do is AGF, (maybe he was a long-term IP editor), and periodically check in on his progress. :D Keep me posted, and I'll do the same! UPDATE: Oh, and I forgot the copy-pasted article on Piezoelectric whatchamacallits. The red flag is a-waving in the air. When I checked earlier, I didn't find any "piezoelectric" mention at WP:SPI. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 21:55, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

hey Guys! Whats up? Won't you welcome me ?  :) Nechlison ( talk) 08:13, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Sure, I'll post a welcome on your talk page! Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 16:21, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

To link Piezoelectric network for smart roads

I tried to link Piezoelectric network for smart roads to this article see /info/en/?search=Piezoelectricity in Application section , but it have gone vanished from its original position see /info/en/?search=Piezoelectric_network_for_smart_roads and haven't moved to desired target. Can you please help me out ? Nechlison ( talk) 16:38, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Sure, if you check the article edit history, you'll notice that the page was blanked for containing plagiarized content. When you created the article here, it contained content copied verbatim from here. Hope that helps, Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 16:43, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Ok. As this article is related to Piezoelectricity, can I fix it in its Reference section? Nechlison ( talk) 17:00, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
I don't understand what your question is. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 17:12, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
The article I created is actually related to piezoelectric and piezoelectricity , Since it is nominated for deletion. Now Can I make it as reliable source for these articles such as piezoelectricity by fixing it in their reference section ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nechlison ( talkcontribs) 17:19, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Again, I don't understand what you are asking me. It's not clear what you want to fix, or what you want to use as a reliable source. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 17:22, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
i mean can i put the link as source of citation or as external links to the article piezoelectricity from where i created my article piezoelectric network for smart roads  ? Nechlison ( talk) 17:38, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Your question still lacks specificity. What is "the link" that you are referring to? Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 17:48, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

For my own record, I removed an AfD template that *I* applied to an article. The bot didn't seem to remember me. Sniff! Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 06:50, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Actually, it's also G4. (I'm glad someone thought it A7.) I deleted it before, so I want an uninvolved admin to look at it. An anon who removed the old afd note also removed your speedy tag. I will revert that as vandalism. Dloh cierekim 06:16, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks Dloh! While I applaud the kid in the article, the behavior of the IP is juvenile and is of course crossing lines. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 06:22, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
what I need is what he needs-- someone uninvolved needs to have a look. Maybe he'll add enough sourcing as to negate the AfD rationale. Dloh cierekim 06:38, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
I'm only "involved" because he posted a {{help me}} template. I was just doing my rounds. I didn't even realize until a minute ago that his textwall help request where every other word is "Workingharderthanever" is a series of posts that he is basically signing, and then double-signing. What a mess. I actually first thought he was a regular lost user who had wound up on some random talk page and was asking for help on how to set up an article about "Workingharderthanever". Wow! His own ignorance or incompetence, coupled with his stubbornness and sock/meatpuppetry is entirely responsible for more eyes being drawn to that stub. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 06:43, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

what I mean is I need another admin to look at it 'cause I recognize my own bias and cannot act on it. I pinged another admin, then they moved it kinda to draft space. Who nows, maybe he'll turn it into a featured article. (I doubt it) Dloh cierekim 06:50, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

I wanted real bad to delete the thing, then he kept adding links, so glad I did not. Dloh cierekim 06:51, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Good. More eyes, hands and brains. If they'd put forth thi level of effort during the AfD, they might have had a different outcome. If they'd done it before moving to article space after being declined at AfC, we could have avoided ulceration of our gastric mucosa. Dloh cierekim 07:18, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
I'm not a doctor, and I don't even know anything about science, but I want you to take it easy this week. Keep your feet up, or down if they're more comfortable. Stay away from acidic foods, but also don't eat ammonia, because bases aren't going to do your mucosa any good. Just keep it cool! But not too cool that you get hypothermia. Look, what I'm trying to say is, just play it medium this week. Just right down the middle. Chillax a little. But not too much that your muscles atrophy! But like I said, I'm not a doctor. Svetlana Kirilovskaya PROD - Fictional?

Thank you for the feedback.  :)

The author of the Svetlana Kirilovskaya article has also created at least two other Wikipedia articles with similar issues -- inconsistent dates, anachronisms e.g. St Petersburg did not exist in the 15th century, and links to real people who were not alive at the time of the person being written about. I will be interested to see if /when I get a reaction from the author of the articles. Where not already reverted, I am reverting all inappropriate changes made by the author to other pages as I find them. -- Chewings72 ( talk) 00:52, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Looking into the details of the helpme queries...

...please do it.

At this one ( the revision I'm seeing now), Jaypronx had already initiated a more detailed query at the article talk page: losing the thread, as well as ranting about your weird experiences with an emphasis on the rubbish Wikipedia receives, in response to the poorly shaped cross-posted question, seems uninformative.

-- Gryllida ( talk) 05:57, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi @ Gryllida:, I appreciate your input, and for finding the other thread that Jaypronx initiated, which I was not aware of. I was attempting a timely response to the help request, which I deliberately did not close out so that other users who might be more knowledgeable on that specific subject could contribute. As for my ramble, it was meant in good humor to illustrate the extreme of unreliable content, and I balanced the humor with what I believe to be solid information about article neutrality, and what sort of sources the user would need to use for the balance to be considered appropriate. As for the humor employed, there is no rule against using humor, in fact, there is a barnstar for it, and I attempted to employ some to help defuse some of the editor's proclaimed frustration. If there's anybody who could or should complain about my reply, I would respectfully argue that it's Jaypronx. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 07:00, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
Eh, I don't think the response would cause a complaint from Jaypronx, he may as-well just accept such response on his/her learning curve of the Wikipedia environment. :-)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Tuck Bushman and the Legend of Piddledown Dale

Hello Cyphoidbomb. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Tuck Bushman and the Legend of Piddledown Dale to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. A7 does not apply to films.

Generally, when you tag a page for speedy deletion, you should copy to the author's talk page the warning notice which is generated at the bottom of the speedy template when it is expanded on the article. Otherwise the newbie author doesn't know what happened to their article, thinks they pressed the wrong button, and probably puts it straight in again. Regards, JohnCD ( talk) 23:17, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for that, @ JohnCD:. I wasn't aware that it didn't apply to films. I also appreciate your note about notifying the author. I typically use Twinkle, which notifies the contributor, but obviously I have to pay attention to that in the future if I manually add a template as I think I might have done here. Thanks! Johnny Test

I don't know whether it properly belongs there or not either, but it is in the "Teletoon original series" template and is listed at List of Teletoon original series — so if it is in fact wrong, then those have to be corrected as well, rather than just reverting the addition of a category that both the list and the template are indicating is correct. Bearcat ( talk) 23:10, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

@ Bearcat: Hi, sorry, I think I may have botched this one. I've self reverted. My apologies! Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 23:16, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
No worries. Just for the record, what happened is that {{ Teletoon}} used to directly transclude the category onto the articles, but somebody changed that a couple of days ago because templates aren't really supposed to be doing that. But their edit had the obvious side effect of depopulating the entire category, so what I've been doing is to manually repopulate the category by adding the category directly to the articles instead of the artificial transclusion. I can't guarantee that every article that's in the list and template actually belongs there, because AWB isn't a very good tool for reviewing the substance of an article, but all I've really been doing is restoring a category that the articles were already in before the template was edited. I would certainly suggest that somebody who has a lot more knowledge than I do about what shows are or aren't really Teletoon originals should maybe review the template and list to remove inappropriate entries, though — so just to let you know, I'm going to post a request for someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Animation to take a look at the list and template. Bearcat ( talk) 23:32, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

Template:HD

For the most part, the templates listed at Template:HD generally have not been used at the Help Desk for a while (as far as I know). The Template:HD page was last edited in 2010, and then 2009 and 2008 before that. I ran across the template page while looking for something else and thought others at the Help Desk might find it useful since the advise provided by the templates looks valuable in helping answer questions at the Help Desk. If I used one of the templates, I personally would just copy and paste the subst form since I don't use Twinkle. -- Jreferee ( talk) 12:19, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

@ Sitush: Hi, I haven't even gotten farther than the talk page! Based on the way they gloss over anything I or anyone else had to say, it seems pretty clear that the user is incapable of seeing another perspective, or considering that they could be wrong. My guess is the show will go like this: He will continue this pattern of excoriating the people with whom he disagrees, someone will bring him to ANI for disruption, the community will find him irrational and disruptive, they'll institute a topic ban, and this will make him more resolute in his paranoia that there is a global Wikipedia conspiracy to suppress his perspective, and he'll rant about that and who knows what else. But man, I hope there is no conspiracy because if there is I'll feel like a fool! Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 15:31, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
There is no conspiracy. If this ends up at ANI then the floor will be wiped because I've garnered a very healthy respect there for my work on caste-related stuff. It would, however, be simpler if a passing admin would deploy WP:GS/Caste and institute a topic ban that way - it's the entire purpose of the thing. - Sitush ( talk) 15:39, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

CHIKARA Season Five

Thank you for looking at the page. I just wanted to comment on the issues you left. CHIKARA is a professional wrestling company. Wrestling is made up of stories, which explains why it sounds like a plot summary. However, the stories are real in the context of the company and in professional wrestling. Unlike many other companies, CHIKARA is very detailed and in-depth. This is an overview. Please see my comment above on wrestling being made up of stories. It's not a dry, scientific medium, but rather an artistic/creative one, so the entry will reflect that. However, it is not any less correct or factual. Everything in there is correct and did occur as written. BabsChikara ( talk) 20:38, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Is A Different Vandal

Hi, thanks for the heads up, but, this is a different vandal, as its MO is different from Treloc's. This vandal's MO is to rewrite the fossil range of various prehistoric mammal taxoboxes to restrict the taxon to the Pleistocene, apparently in an attempt to erase mention of the Miocene and Pliocene. Sometimes, it tries to rewrite that a taxon is restricted to the US even though it isn't.-- Mr Fink ( talk) 23:55, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

And I have read all I could find, any gender book in games and they had somewhat different views. My recent edits to The Problem Solverz

3 days ago, I made some edits to The Problem Solverz, stating how the show got a negative reception, but all of the sudden, I discovered that it was removed because there was no reliable source. And I don't know how to include citations on Wikipedia even though some articles may not provide sources. TheRocknRollPat ( talk) 03:39, 16 February 2014 (UTC)TheRocknRollPat

Hi @ TheRocknRollPat: Pat, thanks for reaching out. I removed your edit here for the reason stated in the edit summary: "Unsourced, and the opinions of anonymous cranks don't typically deserve mention in encyclopedias." While you assert that the series "was poorly received by critics and audiences alike", the only reception that matters are the critical responses from reviewers who ply their trade behind the walls of reliable sources. Stating that random users didn't like the show for XYZ reasons does not make a reliable assertion. Every idiot on the internet has an opinion (myself included) but those opinions aren't worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. Though your personal understanding of the series might suggest that the colors were too bright, or whatever, unless these conclusions are drawn by reliable sources, they constitute original research and should be cut. Since you were asking about how to reference sources, that functionality is built in. When you open your edit window, hover over "Cite", pull down the Template drop-down, select "Cite web" and fill in the blanks. Or you can review WP:REFB. The page on reliable sources defines the type of references that are considered appropriate for inclusion. There are no allowances for sites like Yahoo! Answers or for the selection of opinions from message boards/forums, blogs, etc. Regards, Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 06:38, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

I don't have a problem with the Criticism section existing (it probably should go under Reception, though). So if you find some reliable sources, then we can talk about how to incorporate the content on the article's talk page. Regards, Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 22:55, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

re: D-styles

Thanks for the help. I think it must have a link that's triggering it not to save. Is there a way for me to figure out what link it is? D-styles is certainly notable altho the genre is admittedly niche so I don't know how that effects it. Altho considering the other turntablists with pages it's rather shocking he doesn't have an entry since he's considered one of the 3 best scratch/turntablists in the world. I'm going to try the articles for creation route and see if that works. Thx — Preceding unsigned comment added by Djdiggla ( talkcontribs) 19:34, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

@ Djdiggla: You're welcome. I would imagine, though I can't say for sure, that there is a fairly specific message reported to users when they do the thing that you are doing, and it should indicate whether you're triggering the spam filter, or some other filter. If you happened to save the article on your computer, you could try pasting it in your sandbox to see if it gets tripped again. As a work-around, you could either set up the article (via AFC or in your sandbox) without specific references, then add them back in one-by-one to see which one is the offender. Or, you might be able to avoid the filter by removing the " http://www", but of course we couldn't leave the article that way. You could also just search the Spam-blacklist for your links. If you're trying to prove that the episodes aired on a specific date, you'll need to provide references from reliable sources. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 19:18, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Stale ANI report archived

Howdy, I filed a report at ANI, but the issue was never resolved (I don't think an Admin ever even weighed in) and the report was archived in this edit (It is the topmost report regarding an editor's competence.) What is the protocol? Do I start a new report, or copy the old one back to ANI, or is there another preferred approach? Thanks, Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 20:20, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

No need - having reviewed the discussion and his edit history, I've blocked the user indefinitely. I'm open to letting him back once he can show sufficient maturity and competence, but for now, he's causing too much damage to be allowed to edit. Yunshui  11:31, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi, if you don't intend to file a Sockpuppet investigation report, but plan to template instead, I think you should probably be using the {{sockpuppet|username}} template, and I believe that goes on their USER page. (I say this having perhaps mistakenly applied it to a sockpuppet's talk page recently by mistake.) Although when the "sockpuppet investigation" link is red, it's kind of a bummer, so maybe it would be best to open an SPI in the future if you're feeling inclined? Personally I don't notify socks, because they typically know they're socks, and because fuck 'em; instead of feeding the poor or purifying drinking water in developing nations, they're only here to waste your time. There is proof

There is proof that the movie exists. On March 6, 2014 Ben Bouquet confirmed that a Gumball movie titled The Amazing Movie of Gumball was to be released in cinemas on March 10, 2016 about Kenneth from the Microwave returning and planning to eat everybody in the entire universe and Gumball and Darwin having to stop him. A sequel was also confirmed titled The Amazing Movie of Gumball 2 and will be released in cinemas on March 11, 2021. It is about Sal Left Thumb the footprint guy from the Spoon returning to get revenge on Nicole by killing her for knocking him unconscious with a frozen sausage and telling him not to call people suckers. This is definitely correct it has been confirmed. http://theamazingworldofgumball.wikia.com/wiki/The_Amazing_Movie_of_Gumball. 118.92.41.133 ( talk) 16:31, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Stub sorting

Hello Cyphoidbomb. Thank you for tagging an article as a stub. I noticed that you used the {{ stub}} template. In the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could sort the article to a subcategory by using one of these templates instead. For example, you can use {{ US-novelist-1960s-stub}} for an American novelist born in the 1960s. Of course, if you can't find a proper category, you can always use the {{ stub}} tag and someone else will sort it for you, or you can propose a new stub template or category here. Thanks!

Hello, administor

Hello, Cyphoidbomb! I am the brand new owner of Wikipedia! I now want to upgrade your account for brand new amazing features! All you need me to do is give me your password and I can upgrade your account. I also want to add money on your credit card for being so great on Wikipedia, so please give me your credit cared number too. Thank you, 2013 Owner ( talk) 19:54, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Also, you misspelled administrator. LOL! Must be New Guy Syndrome! Good luck with your ownership! Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 20:08, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
UPDATE: Wait a minute, you also misspelled "card"--are you trying to trick me? Naw, I guess the new owner would never do that. Go get those vandals, champ! We're all counting on you! It's time those white-eyed losers got kicked out of their mother's basements! Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 20:13, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 05:27, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Did that help? thanks for your professionalism

you showed great professionalism in your recent letter to me about reverting the smith and wesson 422 wiki page, especially your comment about my mental capacities for reasoning. i will probably not attempt to assist wiki in any way ever in the future [monetarily or otherwise] due to you and the experience of this. hopefully your lack of restraint in containing your personal feelings and this outburst was merely your possible aversion to the topic of guns and what might be considered a Freudian slip on your part. i can only hope you do not disrespect everyone that [in your opinion] improperly attempts to honestly and genuinely assist wiki on other topics as well. please have a happy holiday and a happy new-year cyphoid-bomb.

Your armchair psychoanalysis of me is way off, though. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 07:43, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Advice from a new user to another new user, on the Help Desk

Hi Cyphoidbomb,

I find the response by Nechlison to this question worrying. Why is a user who has contributed to only one article, giving rather assertive advice to another?

Good. More eyes, hands and brains. If they'd put forth thi level of effort during the AfD, they might have had a different outcome.

Cyphoidbomb, I need your help.

Cyphoidbomb, I need your help. A powerful witch shall destroy Wikipedia tonight. There is a secret code to defeat her, and if I tell someone, Bonusballs will die, so give me administrator commands and I can type the code in. Thanks. Uno the Rapper ( talk) 17:09, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

I'm confused, you already told me about the code, which means Bonusballs is already doomed.

Awesome, thanks @ Bearcat:! Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 23:51, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

The article about Anita Sarkeesian and her Tropes vs Women video series is one I find troubling because I can't find any other study to support its claims.

Hi, Thunder26.99 I reverted your edits because you are adding massive amounts of parental TV ratings with non-standard formatting (maybe you're just using tabs?), you're not using edit summaries, and there is no indication of where this information is coming from. I believe I have done fair editing before updating the header Criticism, but as you removed it, you could have done the changes you wanted for that section rather than completely removing it as it is an important section where the police officers critized the film for many reasons, moreover your editing would have been a learning process for me. @ Rajeshbieee: Hi, yes, I could have done the changes--conceivably, but A) Copyright violations should be removed ASAP. B) Your suggestion shifts the burden of work onto me, C) There is no indication that the source provided is a reliable source. So upon what would I base the criticism? I don't have a problem with the Criticism section existing (it probably should go under Reception, though). re: D-styles

I saw the schedule they took TUFF PUPPY out for now. Don't believe me? check out the tv guide, no tuff pupper for two weeks — Preceding unsigned comment added by GalaxyFighter55 ( talkcontribs) 00:28, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

I don't do other people's research. TV series end dates must be supported by sources per WP:CRYSTAL and it is the burden of the contributor to provide it. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 01:03, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

118.92.41.133 Wikia does not count as "proof". IMDb doesn't count as proof. Wikipedia doesn't count as proof. They're all user-contributed. Proof comes in the form of coverage in reliable sources like newspapers, magazines, or trade websites like Variety or Hollywood Reporter. Wikia is where children go to spread hoaxes about shows they love or hate. By the way, you've misspelled the creator's name. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 16:47, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
118.92.41.133, I don't think you're right.

Disambiguation link notification for March 21

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Adventures of Little Carp, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ringleader ( check to confirm |  fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Draft Kimberly Wright Cassidy

Please look at Wikipedia talk:Drafts#Drafts never an orphan and Draft Kimberly Wright Cassidy, where I removed the orphan tag.

We are still learning how to use drafts. When I move Draft Kimberly Wright Cassidy to Kimberly Wright Cassidy I will update Bryn Mawr College and other articles as needed. -- DThomsen8 ( talk) 12:54, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you CyphoidBomb; I appreciated your help on the 'OASIS TOSCA' article. Since I see you are an expert editor and I look forward to reading your tips. Cheers! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jrsmi ( talkcontribs)

Y U NO ADMIN?

Shit, why do you not have the mop? Has Wikipedia taken leave of its senses? 4 years, no blocks, good input on vandalism and socks, what more do we need? May I nominate you? Guy ( Help!) 00:58, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

JzG Ha! I would be honored to be nominated. There's so much to learn, and the self-nomination seems such a rigorous ordeal. Plus I only have a scant 12k edits. Can't tell you how nice it is to receive such kind words, though! I try to be level, even with the sockjobbers. I don't know that I'm worthy of the nom, but I wouldn't resist community scrutiny. Mop mop mop. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 01:14, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
Tomorrow, I do this. It's half past one in the morning here and bed beckons. I will REFUND that article in the morning too if matey wants it. Guy ( Help!) 01:30, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
Snooze well. Maybe you'll reconsider come morning. :D Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 01:32, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

Re: your answer. Of course! Please take your time. It's not meant to "stump" or "trick" you, I'm just interested in the sorts of areas you might naturally gravitate toward. Its as much for those who want to know a bit more about you without pressing for more on Q6 (which you handled very well I think). Cheers, Stalwart 111 07:28, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

Stalwart111 No stumps or tricks were perceived. The nomination was sudden, so I kind of have to exercise my brain a bit. Interesting question! Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 17:11, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

Well, well, maybe the troll will fall in the well

Thank you for removing the troll post that claimed to have planned the Battle of Kuwait. I warned the IP that trolling is a way to get blocked, and did not respond, so as not to feed the troll, but removing the troll track is also a good idea. Robert McClenon ( talk) 03:23, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

@ Robert McClenon: Thanks for the acknowledgment! I went bold on that one and figured it was in vio of WP:NOTFORUM, though it did cross my mind that I would be depriving my fellow HD lurkers from some of the scandal. :) I checked to see if he posted elsewhere, including the Schwarzkopf article, but I dinna see anythin'. Have a great weekend, m'man! Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 03:31, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, I had the same encounter earlier. I put on the TSO article, "On Aug. 1, 2008, at 7:35 AM, The Sims Online was officially closed by EA.", only to find out that was took down by a vandaliser named GSK. He was like,"Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to The Sims Online. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you." gsk 07:29, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

And I was like:

Um, I saw the records of it a second ago, and I saw your name and that red Vandalism sign. Either you're a vandalizer, or Wikipedia is acting funny. Sunjerbob (talk)

Anyways, I hope this vandalising thing goes away! :)

Ciao!

Sunjerbob ( talk) 07:47, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Like I told you on your talk page:

I think you need to read WP:V, WP:CITE, and WP:ACCUSE. You're adding information that has no reference. I removed it because everything added to Wikipedia needs to have a reference to back it up.

It's not nice to accuse others of not following WP:AGF, which is what I did up until this comment. g s k 07:49, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks!

-- I dream of horses @ 01:34, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

I dream of horses Hiya, do you recall which article this was? My guess is that I stubbed it with the default suggestion from AWB. I'm still a new AWB user, so I'd need to figure out better ways to use the automated tool. And if you know of various plug-ins or whatever that could help improve my ability, please let me know! I'll also look around. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 01:58, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
It was Automatic pitch turbine, and I'm not an AWB user. Sorry I can't help there, but maybe there's an experienced AWBer who can help out. -- I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{ Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 02:18, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Totally Spies!: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Dogmaticeclectic ( talk) 03:49, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Best Friends Forever

Hi. Why did you withdraw the AfD? The consensus was quite likely to be merge and turn the page into a disambiguation page. -- Stfg ( talk) 17:00, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi Stfg - I'm kind of having shit luck with my AfD decisions lately. I was withdrawing the "deletion" aspect since I was getting criticism about using AfD if I was open to other options like merge or disambiguate or whatever. I still think the article should change and I'll fully support a merge (since I think I originally proposed that). I started a discussion on the talk page. It's been a rough week. Sorry if that messed everything up. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 17:54, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Yes, you did mention the possibility of merging. Sorry you're having a bad week. I've made my input on the talk page. Regards, -- Stfg ( talk) 18:13, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
