Edit on Onimai

Hi, in your edit here, which reverted a change by me, you say that "a reliable source pointing out that the story doesn't align with reality is actually useful information". I think this is a bit of a given that there is not a medicine you can drink to turn you into a middle school girl, and I think anyone alive today knows and agrees with that fact... No? So, as such, is this truly necessary? – Fpmfpm ( talk) 10:42, 4 April 2023 (UTC) reply

That said, I checked out the current version of the section and it looks pretty good – thanks for your edits. I do think it's pretty obvious that it's "not accurately representative of real life", though, considering the series has overarching sci-fi/fantasy premise… but it's not a big deal, only a little bit redundant/unnecessary. :) Feel free to let me know any thoughts if you want. – Fpmfpm ( talk) Fpmfpm ( talk) 11:51, 4 April 2023 (UTC) reply
While I would agree that most people above a certain age are likely aware that there isn't medicine that instantly de-ages you and changes your biological sex, I think the thing that less people are likely to be aware of is that transgender people exist in real life and utilize more mundane, difficult, and costly methods of changing their gender presentation, and that the series is often regarded as more absurd in light of this by trans folks and those who know them/know of them. However, it would constitute a SYNTH violation for us to write that ourselves citing sources on real life transgender matters that don't themselves draw a connection to Onimai. So I feel that the Anifem source pointing out and elaborating on the legal absurdity of transgender medical rights in Japan through the lens of the series is useful, because it allows us to note the series' unrealism with regards to trans issues for those not in the know (and we can't assume everyone already knows) without it constituting original research.
With that said, I did respect the intention of your change, as stated in your edit summary, i.e., to keep the article on topic, which is why I sought to remedy that by removing specific details about the real life issues brought up in the article. I'm pleased to see that seems to have worked out as a compromise, so, yeah. Thank you very much for the feedback. silvia (BlankpopsiclesilviaASHs4) ( inquire within) 14:28, 4 April 2023 (UTC) reply

DYK for Lily Hoshikawa

On 30 April 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Lily Hoshikawa, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Joanna Cherry showed a printed copy of an Internet meme featuring Lily Hoshikawa during a UK parliamentary committee meeting? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Lily Hoshikawa. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page ( here's how, Lily Hoshikawa), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

upskirt

hi. sorry to bother you but someone reverted your addition of a trans woman to upskirt about a month ago. they say "gratuitous" and relevance, which seems pretty bogus to me. wikipedia is not censored and there's nothing obscene here. what they ended up doing was wiping all lgbt and people of color images from the article. i support your addition. 2603:8080:2C00:1E00:D909:33CA:7C8A:B66A ( talk) 00:58, 22 May 2023 (UTC) reply

Film leads

With regard to this edit, WP:FILMLEAD says, "Any summary of the film's critical reception should avoid synthesis, meaning it should reflect an overall consensus explicitly summarized by one or more reliable sources." For blockbuster films, this is usually easy. There are many sources that summarize critical reception of blockbuster films, such as Entertainment Weekly and Variety. There isn't a need for individual editors to make up their own Rotten Tomatoes-style critical consensus, especially since Rotten Tomatoes already exists and be cited. Custom signature fix needed

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Wikipedia's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

  1. In accordance with a recent request for comment, all invalid signatures will be changed to the default, which looks like " Example ( talk)", one month from now.

If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 06:05, 2 February 2024 (UTC) reply
