Your help/opinion please

Could you please have a look at This section of K. Lasztochka's talk page? I'm afraid that it is beginning to get a bit too personal, at least on the part of this IP user. Some of it is misunderstanding of English, but there have been some cruel personal attacks, and an outside opinion would be welcome. Thanks and all the best, M A Mason 16:38, 12 September 2007 (UTC) reply

Oh, that one again. Some people make personal attacks bluntly, by calling other people names; others more subtly, by weaving vines of fancy words, but yet with hostile intent. Both are forms of ad hominem argumentation, and both are trolling, and neither help us build an encyclopedia. I'll think of something to say. Antandrus (talk) 17:56, 12 September 2007 (UTC) reply

Hi there Antandrus, I've seen your name lots of times on articles that were listed at this project, of which I'm sure you're aware. An editor recently listed the project as inactive, and I'm trying to encourage more activity so that we can progress through the daunting list. You can help by continuing to write fine articles (you've already done many, but there are still lots, if you're ever out of ideas). You may also want to add your name to the newly-added participants list, so it looks less inactive. Rigadoun (talk) 18:43, 12 September 2007 (UTC) reply

I've done this before, but this might be my big break.

Since you've done so much for Wikipedia, you must have done a lot of research over the internet for things like verifiable sources and such. If so, might I assume that you've been to a lot of online places? Then maybe you can help me out. I've been trying to find a site which might have images of the characters in Iggy Arbuckle. It's most unlikely, of course, that you would know where such a site may be found, but I thought someone with seemingly so much experience might have seen something of the sort along the way at some point. Can you be of help??? Wilhelmina Will 01:36, 13 September 2007 (UTC) reply

Most of my sources are books, since I have a doctorate in an academic field; I'm really not all that good at finding websites for popular culture topics. For something like Iggy Arbuckle, if you want images, it's bound to be difficult. So no unfortunately I haven't seen such a thing. Is there a pertinent Wikiproject which might have someone with the right expertise? Antandrus (talk) 01:40, 13 September 2007 (UTC) reply

I'm not sure what a "pertinent Wikiproject which might have someone with the right expertise" might be, but there might be something of the sort. What is that again? Wilhelmina Will 02:22, 13 September 2007 (UTC) reply

Helping out

Hi, first off I want to thank you for fixing my user page that was vandalised by a real life friend of mine who was just playing a joke and who knew I would quickly fix the problem. But anyway the reason that I am posting here is because as the first admin that I've come in contact with I would like to ask for some advice as to where to go to learn all of the code used to edit Wikipedia pages. This is because I want to become a more active member of the comunity. So if you have any suggestions as to where I can begin please post so on my user page. Also I was hoping you could take the time out of your very busy schedule to tell me where to learn to set up my user page like you have yours. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rearete ( talkcontribs) 19:53, 24 September 2007 (UTC) reply

Reading level of Wikipedia

Hi Antandrus,

Yes! Yes! "Shot" is plural! Thank you.

And yet ... it seems clear that various people don't know this -- it's been turned into "shots" more than once.

In related news, I was inspired by a posting of Raul654 to look at Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven) after a long absence. It seems that in the last year or so, the reading level has shifted from college-freshman to 7th grade. Curious, no? And as far as I know, no one has ever addressed what reading level the Wikipedia should be written at.

My impression is that the World Book is about 8th grade, the New Grove is college sophomore, and the Britannica ranges from 12th grade to difficult-program-in-graduate-school. The Wikipedia depends, I guess, on who is doing the editing. I myself would favor college freshman level, and I feel that readers who are hopelessly lost by this should go over to the Simple English Wikipedia. But I suspect there must be a whole range of opinion. Cheers, Opus33 06:15, 25 September 2007 (UTC) reply

Hey Antandrus, how are you? I've been away for a while, though I've been burning the midnight oil whacking vandals the past two nights. Amazing how one can actually miss that isn't it? Sorry I'm late in replying, I haven't had much time the past two days. Have the "dramatically difficult real life events" have been resolved? As to vandal and troll-whacking being satisfying, and what it says about us, I imagine the answer to that would be very clear: we have far too much time on our hands. I find it's a better use of my time compared to something such as television! Though I can only go into "whack-a-vandal" mode if I'm playing The Best Of Mountain, or Yes's Fragile. A free photograph of The Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians?

Antandrus, do you own or have access to a copy of all the volumes of The Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians? If so, would you consider taking a photograph, releasing it under a free license, and then replacing the non-free photograph in Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians? I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks, Iamunknown 17:15, 29 September 2007 (UTC) reply

Greetings! I do own a hard copy (but of the 1980 edition); the more recent edition I subscribe to online. Yes, I'll photograph it for you... it'll take just a bit to move it out of the clutter zone.  :) Antandrus (talk) 17:18, 29 September 2007 (UTC) reply
Excellent. The 1980 edition will be fine. I would also suggest that you not arrange the books as in the current photograph, which gives a clear view of the inside, given copyright concerns. (At least, that is how I understand it.) And thank you very much for taking time to do this.  :-) -- Iamunknown 17:33, 29 September 2007 (UTC) reply
Wouldn't that be a derivative work, and therefore not eligible to be released under a free licence? ElinorD (talk) 19:04, 29 September 2007 (UTC) reply
Yes, I think it would be. Of course, since the current photograph is a non-free promotional photograph, the marketing department at Groves is certainly free to do that!  ;-) But we aren't. -- Iamunknown 19:49, 29 September 2007 (UTC) reply
Reading the derivative works policy linked above, I'm not sure I can take a picture of the encyclopedia and give it a free license, since 1) Grove copyrights their books, including everything on the covers, and 2) I'm taking the picture for the purpose of showing the set of books. (I could take a picture of it if it were an incidental to something else, e.g. I'm taking a picture of the inside of my music/writing studio, and it happens to be on the shelf.) While IANAL, I'm not so sure now. Has anyone done this elsewhere on Wikipedia for another set of books? Antandrus (talk) 20:20, 29 September 2007 (UTC) reply
Hmm, I considered derivative works (hence my recommendation to not photograph a page) but didn't think it would apply to the spine or cover of the books. Then again, I don't know if that is true.
It might just be easier to get an older version (as in pre-1923, published in the U.S.) and scan the cover page. There is a 1904-1910 version at my local University library, so I can try that next week. (It will probably be a photograph, because I imagine that bending the spine as much as needed to scan a page would not be good for the book...). -- Iamunknown 20:35, 29 September 2007 (UTC) reply

"Gratuitous image"

Hi! In Trent Codices you added the PD image of the Castello with the note "Gratuitous image" [2] . Actually, if you do any other MS sources, PLEASE add these images of where they are! What with shelfmarks being unreliable and the names of libraries changing so often (there's one in Udine that I have five names for), and Mapquest et. al still not working that well for Europe, having a picture of where the hell you're going can really help! Especially when it's a castle at the top of a hill that you can navigate toward.

Okay, get back to your vandalizing...  :) -- Myke Cuthbert (talk) 17:22, 7 October 2007 (UTC) reply

You're getting to go there? LOL, yeah, I know I read too much into comments ... Sure, I love adding those images. In addition, when I can't find a pic of a Renaissance composer (that means most of the time) I've increasingly been putting in a pic of one of the cathedrals, for example Marbrianus de Orto. Except for "vandalizing" I haven't been real active recently; stuff in real life I can't write about where trolls can see. List of Japanese N64 games

Your deletion from Grosse Fuge

I must say that I was dismayed by your summary deletion of the popular culture section of this article, after it was summarily restored after being summarily deleted the first time. Isn't there some kind of rule about that in the Wikipedia? Aren't you supposed to raise the issue in the article's talk page first? As an admin, aren't you supposed to know about that sort of thing?

Anyway, I am writing an entry - belatedly - on the article's talk page. I hope you will add your opinion.

-- Ravpapa 18:19, 9 October 2007 (UTC) reply

There are a lot of us, myself included, who think that "X in popular culture" sections should be summarily abolished from articles that are not specifically about popular culture. These sections are patches of weeds that grow unchecked at the ends of articles, as passersby add their own recollection of Mention of X from every TV show, comic book, and T-shirt that they have seen. Sometimes a bold soul with a weed-whacker is needed, and I support what Burntsauce did yesterday.
My being an admin is entirely irrelevant. It's a wiki. Feel free to make any change you feel improves the encyclopedia, and that goes for me too. If you want to restore an "X in popular culture" you may do so, and I assure you I will not block you. Please don't suppose that my being an admin gives me some special status in matters of content. Thank you, Antandrus (talk) 19:28, 9 October 2007 (UTC) reply

Wellllllllllllll, more of a stub. If you would please take a gander at the Stravinsky Le Roi des étoiles that I have attempted and make it better I would be grateful to the point of sending you...oh, I dunno...a picture of a homemade brownie or something. -- Wspencer11 (talk to me...) 14:14, 15 October 2007 (UTC) reply

Good stub; I don't know the piece at all. Considering that its composition would have been around the same time as Le Sacre, I'd be quite interested in hearing it.
Can you believe that the Stravinsky article contains not a single mention of the Requiem Canticles, nor do we have an article on this piece? I had no idea. Once in a great while I find a huge hole in our coverage. Are you familiar with it? (Personally I think it is a profound masterpiece--and not nearly done often enough.) Cheers! Antandrus (talk) 15:02, 15 October 2007 (UTC) reply
Ack ack! not yet! It's one of the pieces I want someone to write in my class next term! :) Well, okay, go ahead. Post-1960 there are tons of pieces that need articles.
Yay Wspencer11 for adding the Stravinsky piece. New articles from my students coming in this week. First two up: Rodeo (ballet) (compare with previous version: [3]) and Symphony_in_Bb_for_Band). Am very happy that they're adding actual prose to Wikipedia, instead of just more templates, etc. There are some little things that I'll address after the assignment is done (moving Bb to B-flat; adding better Fair Use rationales to the Rodeo images (perhaps cropping them to not be full pieces)) but I don't want to nitpick progress. :) -- Myke Cuthbert (talk) 18:51, 16 October 2007 (UTC) reply
An excellent idea! I will hold off writing it myself (I wouldn't have done it right away anyway; in order to avoid original research, I'd need a bunch of sources not in my own library, and most of what I know about the piece is from studying it myself). I highly doubt anyone else will write an article on it -- late Stravinsky, for most people, is a cactus sandwich. Turn on a "classical" radio station and you'll hear every flute concerto Telemann ever wrote, or every scribble by kid Mozart, but not a single glorious trombone-blatt from 1960s Igor. So this stuff is relatively unknown except by specialists. Good luck with the class!  :) Antandrus (talk) 18:57, 16 October 2007 (UTC) reply
Thanks! It's a very strange piece, one of those truly odd works that really catch my interest. It's definitely worth hunting up, in my opinion...MTT recorded it in Boston in 1972 and there's a recent Boulez/Cleveland version on iTunes.
I'm afraid I know the RC not at all; I should track it/them down too. I'm afraid the atonal Stravinsky has never really been my bag, though Agon is very fine as I recall. In fact I guess I'm just a tonalist at heart, with occasional exceptions like A Survivor from Warsaw and all Dutilleux (if you call that atonal) among a few others.
Also, I just stumbled across this guy's entry: David S. Sampson...is he worth an entry? I know full well that any deletion would likely get reverted but I figure there's no harm in asking. Merci! -- Wspencer11 (talk to me...) 16:48, 15 October 2007 (UTC) reply

Oy, sorry to hear that. Merge and redirect. The first time it happened to me was when I wrote the first draft of Charles Valentin Alkan in 2004, and later discovered someone had already written one with the hyphen: Charles-Valentin Alkan. I said aloud some words I resolutely try to avoid typing into Wikipedia, had a deep breath, and merged the articles. Oh well ... c'est la vie. Or is it Vie? LOL... I'll get to it when I can (out of work AGAIN). But (since I don't know French) what's the correct capitalization? I have seen at least three versions. Merci! -- Wspencer11 (talk to me...) 13:55, 17 October 2007 (UTC) reply
Two possibilities: Zvezdolikiy (the original Russian: literally "Star-face", and Le roi des étoiles. There is no standard way of doing "Englished" French titles; I've seen them all kinds of ways. Personally I prefer capitalization as in the original language -- i.e. all lower case for this one. Grove has the Russian first, and the French in parentheses. I would lean toward the lower case French, and redirect everything else. Cheers! Antandrus (talk) 15:05, 17 October 2007 (UTC) reply

I tried my best...let me know if it looks OK. I kinda faked the redirects so you can let me know where I went wrong. Merci! -- Wspencer11 (talk to me...) 16:13, 17 October 2007 (UTC) reply

Takemitsu again...

Hi Antandradus, I'm having some trouble - I put the Takemitsu page up for peer review ages ago and didn't really get a response, and I've now nominated it as an FA candidate, but I'm worried it's just going to slip straight through the net. Is there anything I can do to get people to look at it? I guess it's a specialist subject - but not much more so than Lutoslawski and Messiaen etc. Any ideas? Matt.kaner 18:32, 15 October 2007 (UTC) reply

The best place I can think is Wikipedia:Wikiproject Composers. If anyone would be interested in helping, it would be there. I confess I rarely visit the FA pages, either as an editor trying to get an article featured or as a reviewer, for I find the atmosphere there to be somewhat uncollegial, and indeed occasionally abusive; it can feel quite bad after putting in a lot of hard work into an article ("Good Article Review" is even worse). But best of luck, and I'll help out with any specifics if you ask. Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 20:23, 15 October 2007 (UTC) reply

I apologize

Between December 14, 2005 and June 7, 2007, I vandalized Wikipedia under my previous username (YechielMan) and under various IP addresses and alternate accounts.

I recently reviewed the contribution logs of all the accounts and IP addresses that I can recall having used. My goal was to identify all of the intentionally harmful edits I caused, and to apologize to the individual users who reverted those edits, or warned me, or blocked me.

Hence, I apologize to you and to all of the following users:

Adam Bishop, Amarkov, Antandrus, AntiVandalBot, Bdj (Badlydrawnjeff), Conk 9, CanbekEsen, DLand, Downwards, Eagle 101, Ericbronder, Gogo Dodo, High on a tree, Hut 8.5, Interiot, Jayjg, Jrwallac, Kingboyk, Kuru, Noclip, Patrick Berry, PFHLai, PhantomS, Pollinator, Rachack, Ranma9617, Rx StrangeLove, SlimVirgin, Tfrogner, TommyBoy, Vary, Woohookitty, Zzuuzz, and some anonymous IPs. (I also reverted one edit myself after it went unnoticed for three weeks.)

Thank you for maintaining the integrity of Wikipedia against everyone who has attacked it, including my old self.

If you wish to respond, please do so at my talk page.

Delayed Thanks and Question

Dear Antandrus,

First of all, thank you for reviewing my California Condor article and helping to promote it to FA status a few months ago. I know my thanks are a bit delayed, but better late than never! Second, I’ve currently got another New World Vulture article, King Vulture, up for FA status and was wondering if you would be interested in reviewing it. I know that you are busy, but so far only three people have done so. Any comments and criticism on this article would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rufous-crowned Sparrow 00:54, 22 October 2007 (UTC) reply

You're welcome, and I'm sorry I'm so far behind in keeping my promises (I remember I had promised to make you a revised map for that article using ArcGIS) -- I had some difficult things come up in "real life" and have done little on Wikipedia for the last two months besides revert vandalism and answer quick questions. I'll do my best to have a look at it soon. Cheers and best wishes, Antandrus (talk) 01:24, 22 October 2007 (UTC) reply

I'm always amused by how male teenagers are obsessed with homosexuality: it is, of course, a reflection of their own fear and insecurity: and when they grow up,they generally either get over their fear, or embrace their orientation, if they are so gifted. In any case, their temporary obsession with "gayness" is an extremely significant bit of data. If you are interested in "gay" topics, there are a lot of good resources here and elsewhere on the internet; good luck with your search, your journey, and perhaps your acceptance of your own sexuality. Growing up is hard work. Have a nice day, Antandrus (talk) 01:43, 23 October 2007 (UTC) reply
Huh? How do you know he's a teenager? How do you even know he's a he? I'm female, and I worry about people's opinions on my sexuality. I won't even hug another girl, for fear that people will think it's lesbian. (She looks around at all the female users of Wikipedia and says "Stop giving me those hungering looks! I'm seriously not interested!!!!!!!!) Wilhelmina Will 10:23, 26 October 2007 (UTC) reply
Having seen pictures of Antandrus, I can vouch that he's quite thin, and couldn't be considered an enormous Faggot by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe a Tenorfaggott but most likely a dulcian or even Piccolo heckelphone? However, the resemblance to a low double reed is quite a stretch anyhow. -- Myke Cuthbert (talk) 05:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC) reply

Piano trio (as in other than piano, violin, and 'cello)

Clarinet-violin-piano trio
Clarinet-viola-piano trio
Clarinet-cello-piano trio

These titles sound very unencyclopedic to me—I was going to move them to something like Piano trio (Piano, Violin, Clarinet) etc., but before I do it I thought I should ask you, is there any really "good" way to rename these? —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  15:03, 25 October 2007 (UTC) reply

Tough one. It's hard to improve on Clarinet-violin-piano trio, frankly. If there's a better way to say it, it's not coming to me. The only other possibility would be Clarinet, violin, and piano trio, or Clarinet, violin, piano trio. Pieces are often named "Trio for Clarinet, violin and piano" but that doesn't make a good article title. I'd go as is.  :) Antandrus (talk) 01:56, 26 October 2007 (UTC) reply

Yes indeed, and I sure wish I could be there! Ironically probably the first one I go to will be one far away, when I miss the one in LA, like I did last year. Oh well. By the way, have you ever had a hard look at that Renaissance music article? When I look at it sometimes I get the same feeling I do looking in my garage. Ew, big mess. I think I'll deal with it some other time. Secular music was the "music of the peasants"? LOL. Antandrus (talk) 19:34, 31 October 2007 (UTC) reply
Yeah, it really needs some work. For myself, I'm beginning to think, "edit pretty good articles here, write new obscure articles here, start major articles again from scratch on Citizendium." One user just wrote their article on "Symphony," and, wow, in one day there's a much better article there than what thousands of edits here on WP have produced. It's sometimes much easier just to start all over. I sort of want to suggest to the WP classical music crew, "Hey, their articles are CC licensed -- let's cut and paste their Symphony prose here!"
How about Nashville next year? Good climate, and some good non-classical entertainment options. -- Myke Cuthbert (talk) 19:32, 8 November 2007 (UTC) reply

Not nearly enough, is my opinion ... but there's a few active. The way I know now is who shows up on my watchlist. User:Jerome Kohl for certain; User:Mscuthbert may be interested; User:Rainwarrior; User:RobertG may be interested; User:Matt.kaner; User:Jashiin; User:Hyacinth is still active on and off; there's probably a dozen more more or less regular. You might try looking at articles on the major composers and their music to see who wrote them, who edits them, and who obviously watches over them (by the revert patterns). I'm probably missing some really obvious names (sorry if I missed you, reader happening by!) but these are off the top of my head. Yup, there's still a lot to do there... However I find that Wikipedia:How to edit a page has a lot to get you started. What exactly are you trying to align? If it is a template you might look at the syntax in existing templates with lots of formating (like Template:Infobox). Image syntax is covered on the How page. Question

Hey, it's me again. Since you're a admin and you might know the answer to my question, I was just wondering if someone deletes all your work and replaces it with his/her own without notifying or telling you. Is that counted as vandalism? I won’t get into too much detail but you’ve been here longer than me so I decided to ask you. Thanks for all your help!! Fattyjwoods ( talk) 23:13, 6 December 2007 (UTC) reply

Hm, depends. Are you referring to this? No, not vandalism, but it's a little rude to do it without at least a talk page note that it's coming. I'd suggest merging the versions, picking salient facts from each. I've had it happen where I wrote something, and then someone came along and replaced it with something either better or worse ... in the cases where it was worse I usually gave it a day or two before changing it back just to make sure I wasn't overreacting, in the cases it was better I'd let it go. It's only vandalism if it was a deliberate attempt to compromise the quality of Wikipedia: even a poorer version, done in good faith, wouldn't be vandalism. Hope that helps ... I know this kind of thing can be stressful. Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 00:56, 7 December 2007 (UTC) reply
How did you know? Well yeah, you were right it was the Tainan thing. But the thing is I don't know whether it's better or worse. I guess there isn't much that I can do about it but thanks for your help anyway! Fattyjwoods ( talk) 03:29, 7 December 2007 (UTC) reply

Thank you! Btw, it could be for real. Everything "negative" in that article is going to need a source. And on closer inspection, those "sources" are completely unacceptable. Only the NYT piece holds up, and that just involves a single incident at an airport. Antandrus (talk) 15:41, 8 December 2007 (UTC) reply

Blue5864, I was in a big conflict with Chris and it escalated to legal threats. That information is poorly sourced and should not be readded without consensus on the talk page Alex fusco 5 15:31, 8 December 2007 (UTC) reply
Yes ... I believe now that Chris was in the right; it was unfortunate that he was being over-aggressive and tripped over our WP:NLT policy. That's how I originally became involved (seeing his threatening all-caps edit summaries on recent changes). Blue is trying to add a clearly policy-violating paragraph, which we can't have. Oh, that one again. Some people make personal attacks bluntly, by calling other people names; others more subtly, by weaving vines of fancy words, but yet with hostile intent.

Hope all is OK and the fall classes are going well!  :) Antandrus (talk) 21:35, 7 October 2007 (UTC) reply

List of Japanese N64 games

I noticed your one of the people that wished there to be a list of Japanese games online for Wikipedia which I tried to make for the Nintendo 64 a few months ago, but just like when they where added to the orginal List of Nintendo 64 games they are trying to delete the new page List of Japanese Nintendo 64 games here's a link Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Japanese Nintendo 64 games to the discussion, how about giving your view. ( Floppydog66 18:03, 9 October 2007 (UTC)) reply

New article

LOL... Antandrus (talk) 02:00, 16 October 2007 (UTC) reply

Hi there: If you get a minute could you please take a glance at the latest addition to the article and let me know what you think? I have a feeling the added material is either leaning toward POV or includes material already covered in the specific works articles. Our friendly old vandal and hate-monger Wayne smith/Universedaily has been making his appointed rounds here in Wikiville. Trying to be a Good Citizen, I posted his linkspam links at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Spam_blacklist/Archives/2007/11#More_Linkspam_from_Wayne_Smith_AKA_Universe_Daily and was told by "Herby" http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Herbythyme to buzz off.

Then I went to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist#Linkspam_from_vandal_Wayne_Smith_AKA_Universe_Daily to request a local block. That fell into a black hole. Ok... I then went directly to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Herbythyme#Vandal_Wayne_Smith_needs_LINKSPAM_sites_blocked and asked for divine intervention. This triggered a response from "Herby" (at the bottom): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Yale_s#Your_post_on_my_page

Help Needed

Hi, since you are a admin you might know how to center, left right, horizontally, and vertically align, if you could tell help me that would be great because Ive been stuck for ages now. Fattyjwoods ( talk) 04:30, 6 December 2007 (UTC) reply

Greetings: I'm no expert on Wiki markup ( User:Phaedriel designed my user page, and I don't make templates, user widgets, or fancy signatures; my main gig is contributing content and whacking vandals). However I find that Wikipedia:How to edit a page has a lot to get you started. What exactly are you trying to align? If it is a template you might look at the syntax in existing templates with lots of formating (like Template:Infobox). Image syntax is covered on the How page. You can probably find what you need by clicking on links from there. Another way is to find user pages you like that have things aligned the way you want, and just copy them. Hope this helps and good luck, Antandrus (talk) 04:42, 6 December 2007 (UTC) reply

It all makes for a life-affirming troll, anyway :) Cheers, Moreschi If you've written a quality article... 16:42, 12 December 2007 (UTC) reply

You are very rude. Please do not leave such messages on my page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.133.127.9 ( talk) 04:14, 13 December 2007 (UTC) reply

Responded on your talk page. And I assure you, my block summary, should it come to that, shall be unimpeachably civil and polite. Best wishes, Antandrus (talk) 04:17, 13 December 2007 (UTC) reply

Thank you for your contributions, but please read our neutral point of view policy, and especially this -- conflict of interest. I try to avoid writing about my teachers, unless it is strictly factual stuff I am adding. It's very hard to write about people you know and remain neutral; truly notable people usually will have no shortage of writers, not known to the subjects of the articles, who will write them.
