Hi CE, I'm looking over German Type UB I submarine and finding it to have potential. I saw on Malleus' talk page that you are interested in getting it to FA, but mentioned you wanted to work on GAs and DYKs. Once I finish an article I'm preparing for FAC, would you like me to help you out? I think the article looks to be of a good quality, and needs, as most GAs do, considerable work to get to FA, but it's definitely "got the chops" to be an FA. (outdent) I've made a few changes and will continue. Really, I would suggest that you look for a more recent source on Dutch actions pre-1940. The source you have now was published before the Dutch really looked more closely at their own actions in the 1930s. They had problems, for example, because a fair number of Dutch were pretty sympathetic with the Nazi movement. It is not a simple subject.-- Wehwalt ( talk) 00:39, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Coldplay Expért! Thank you for adding the maps! A few changes are still necessary (e.g. Southern Flevoland and Eastern Flevoland didn't exist at the time) but the essentials are there. Maps will enormously improve the article. I know we were — in the same context of improving the article :o) — asked to let the refs coincide with the punctuation. But that doesn't necessarily mean the full stops. Placing a footnote at a comma etc. is perfectly alright. When I put a reference in the middle of a sentence, there usually was a very cogent reason to do so, e.g. to source precise words that otherwise might be taken for POV or to source exact data. I saw you provided an equivalence in dollars for the defence budget. However, unless we have precise 1939 data for the dollar-guilder exchange rate, giving some exact number is very misleading (apart from the fact you multiplied where you should have divided ;o).

Note that the structure of a text can be copyrighted as well, not just the language. Please let me know once you've finished your rewrite. Regards, The leftorium 18:31, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Malleus is right: this is a good learning experience. Sorry, I didn't go through the history of U-162 to see who added what (which is irrelevant), but at the moment the phrase "remained at large" still exists which is directly from the source. You can either enclose it in quotation marks and keep the wording as is, or give it a complete reword. Truthkeeper88 ( talk) 19:10, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
I've had a good look through U-804, and I've made a few changes that hopefully you'll approve of. I have to say that it does encourage me that you have no need to be copying and pasting from uboat.net, you can do it on your own. Your "stories" of the patrols from the scanty details given by the maps on that site prove you can do it. No more copy and pasting, eh? -- Malleus Fatuorum 00:12, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay. But sometimes wikipedia tends to pull articles apart to satisfy its own regualtations at the expense of what is factual, and correct terminology etc. I believe it is concise enough. But if drastic changes are made, I think a delist should be made. I'd rather see the article the way I intended it at GA rather than otherwise at Featured. This is why I never tend to submit articles for FA. Dapi89 ( talk) 12:53, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Coldplay. I saw this article on DYK, took a look, and came away a bit perplexed. I think you should have a look at all the sources. I see it tagged for speedy deletion, per WP:CSD#G7, but from the history you are not the only contributor so it isn't clear that G7 applies (unless you vouch that you are all three of the IP addresses that edited). Hey, my Userpage just got vandalized! I reverted the edits, and found out it was by an unregistered IP address, namely this person, so, what should I do next? Leave a warning on their talk page? -The Untamed Beast 19:55, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Best, ceran thor 21:56, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

In response to this comment: Yes, you can rewrite the article in your sandbox. However, I strongly advise you to rewrite the article from scratch instead of making alterations in the sentences.

Also, just a funny feeling, but this article is strangely over-linked and just somehow seems off, as though somebody's playing games with you. Anyway, a head's up that you should take a closer look at the work that's been done. Truthkeeper88 ( talk) 21:33, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
I see it tagged for speedy deletion, per WP:CSD#G7, but from the history you are not the only contributor so it isn't clear that G7 applies (unless you vouch that you are all three of the IP addresses that edited). Did you just want it moved back to userspace over the existing redirect? Since you just moved it today, I think I could move it back without it being a big deal. -- RL0919 ( talk) 22:21, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi! In response to your question, I was not aware that there were copyright issues and I would not know what to look for in that respect. The article is in nice shape, but there needs to be linking of names of towns, countries, and people. The top half is pretty thoroughly linked, but it was late when I edited and I just wanted to get to the end. This article is well written and ready for the real wiki IMHO in all other respects. -- Diannaa TALK 02:37, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
