Round one is over, and round two has begun! Congratulations to the 64 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our first round. A special well done goes to Sasata ( submissions), our round one winner (1010 points), and to Hunter Kahn ( submissions) and TonyTheTiger ( submissions), who were second and third respectively (640 points/605 points). Sasata was awarded the most points for both good articles (300 points) and featured articles (600 points), and TonyTheTiger was awarded the most for featured topics (225 points), while Hunter Kahn claimed the most for good topics (70). Staxringold ( submissions) claimed the most featured lists (240 points) and featured pictures (35 points), Geschichte ( submissions) claimed the most for Did you know? entries (490 points), Jujutacular ( submissions) claimed the most for featured sounds (70 points) and Candlewicke ( submissions) claimed the most for In the news entries (40 points). No one claimed a featured portal or valued picture.

I would recommend that you don't engage User:IMatthew at all, in an attempt to end whatever situation is going on between you. The discussions on Wikipedia_talk:WikiCup#Qualification_for_round_2 and Wikipedia_talk:WikiCup#Submission_pages strike me as worrying. It is quite clear from reading the scenario that User:IMatthew would rather that you both completely avoid each other, rather than take up some kind of "truce", thus it would probably be better if you don't respond/refer to them at all.

As a disclaimer here, I want to point out that I am uninvolved with this scenario in the past, but the "drama" on the WikiCup talk page caught my eye. Focus on content editing, and avoid replying to or referring to IMatthew at all. Perhaps so, but making a comment unprovoked suggesting that IM will have a conflict of interest against you in the WikiCup is baiting. Simply ignoring and keeping such thoughts private is a good way to reduce any aggro. Additionally, as you may have noticed by that pages deletion, maintaining a list of "wrongs" performed by another user is provocative, especially when you are not preparing for an ANI/ArbCom case. I do not know your exact scenario, but this is the impression I get from what I have seen. Please disengage, it takes two to make drama in the long-term. Ignoring drama in the short-term allows it to fizzle out. I know that this can be frustrating, but consider this my advice for your scenario. I really don't quite know what the feud between you to is (and if anyone has been watching the associated pages, it is me). However, right now, it looks like you are repeatedly poking to try and cause some kind of fight. Basically, there is one of two things here. Either iMatthew has wronged you in some way- if so, please explain the issue to me, and I will do what I can. Feel free to go via talk page or email. Alternatively, he has not. If he has not, I would ask you to please drop the issue. Your drama mongering really is upsetting- it's creating a poisonous atmosphere and seems very likely to damage the Cup. I want to echo the point that this is damaging to atmosphere. My first view of the scenario on the WikiCup talk page was "Wait... what is going on here?", followed up by "This looks rather silly."

The WikiCup is potentially quite public, as it is something new users/interested parties in Wikipedia may be drawn to look at, thus it is an especially bad place for such drama. If I need to find better bands, then I'll never get adminship. And like Malleus said, I'm a long way from adminship. Lots of positives, but the negatives need to recede, given the high standards you have to meet in today's RFA (I sneaked in before they started asking too many questions). Hi CE, I'm looking over German Type UB I submarine and finding it to have potential. The source you have now was published before the Dutch really looked more closely at their own actions in the 1930s. That article has serious writing issues. Bluntly, I think much of it was written by someone who was not a native English speaker and who does not grasp the intricacies of the language. I'll clean up a bit, but frankly, it needs heavy work by someone knowledgeable in the field. Hi Coldplay Expért! Thank you for adding the maps! A few changes are still necessary (e.g. Southern Flevoland and Eastern Flevoland didn't exist at the time) but the essentials are there. Maps will enormously improve the article. I know we were — in the same context of improving the article :o) — asked to let the refs coincide with the punctuation. But that doesn't necessarily mean the full stops. Placing a footnote at a comma etc. is perfectly alright. When I put a reference in the middle of a sentence, there usually was a very cogent reason to do so, e.g. to source precise words that otherwise might be taken for POV or to source exact data. I saw you provided an equivalence in dollars for the defence budget. However, unless we have precise 1939 data for the dollar-guilder exchange rate, giving some exact number is very misleading (apart from the fact you multiplied where you should have divided ;o).

I recommend applying for rollback. Hpowever, to answer the question, it is possible to avoid automatically watchlisting the articles, if you add some Javascript code to your .js page. NO problem. I like to make things crystal clear to people who need an answer that involves me. By tricky functions, I mean writing articles in general. When I first joined back in July of '09, I did nothing but talk and Myspace. Now I have 3 GA's and several DYK's. So, the fact that you learned the ropes very fast made me a bit confused. Well I would love to :) However, I must inform you that most of my edits are to German U-boats and the Western Front of WWII. I have about 2-3 people who watch my contribs and fix my spelling mistakes but I can always use. More. And yes, there are several people that well do not like me to say the least. I've been called a sock, "slack jawed and drooling" an "admin wannabee", and even a "Nazi" at one point or another. (Though the last one came from a vandal) Most of these were born out of my Myspacey edits when I first joined back in July of '09. Now I average about 1,700 edits a month and 50-75% of them are to articles. I have fully proofread your talk page. I would like to give you few tips, so that you will understand spelling and grammar more clearly. Many of your mistakes involve the misplacement of certain letters. For example, in one place, you typed "yuo" instead of "you". Same goes for "ovbious". More tips follow:

• Remember how to place apostrophes in possessives or contractions. One place, you wrote "your" when you really meant "you are". Remember place an apostrophe, making the word "you're". Otherwise, the word would mean "belonging to you".
  Furthermore, remember where in the word to place an apostrophe. For example, you typed "is'nt". The word should be "isn't"
• When using the present continuous tense with verbs that end in an "e", remember to omit the "e" when adding "ing". For example, you wrote "makeing" instead of "making".
• You frequently use the phrase "a lot", though you always omit the space, making it one word.
• A common typo is to have the last letter of a word be tagged onto the front of the next word. Exempli gratia, you wrote "possibl ebut I can't seem to get it to work" when you meant "possible, but". Notice the comma I added. This segues us into the next tip.
• When the second independent clause in a sentence begins with a coordinating conjunction (and, but, so), a comma is needed before the coordinating conjunction. For example, you wrote, "I'm sorry but what do you mean by that?" A comma is need right before "but".
• Also, you have many comma splices, the use of a comma between two independent clauses. For example, you wrote. "I'm sorry Malke, you can't really color those things green that's how they were uploaded." A period and capitalization of the next letter of the next word or a semicolon is needed to replace the comma.
• When you are directly addressing someone, remember to place a comma before their name or after their name according to where the content you want them to know is placed. For example, you wrote "Thank you very much Truthkeeper". This should be "Thank you very much, Truthkeeper.

I can tell you now that there's a bullshit claim in there which will get it quickfailed, in "On 7 May 1945, U-2336 sank the last Allied ships lost in the war". The last Allied merchant ship sunk by enemy fire (as opposed to mines) was the Jack Singer, torpedoed on 10 August 1945, more than three months later. Even if you only include fighting ships, the USS Drexler (DD-741) was sunk on 28 May 1945 and the USS Callaghan (DD-792) on 28 July 1945, both well after 7 May. –  iride scent 22:46, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

From my view an editor took the time to read an article you want to get to GA status which was nice (because they didn't have to, you know). Then they truthfully pointed out a problem. Yes I do think it's time for the nomination. I was able to resolve both citation tags in the Aircraft section: The first one called for a cite to the assertation of what proportion were byplanes. Anyone can resolve this fact by looking at the preceding list of aircraft and doing the math, so I deleted that tag. The second one was disposed of by finding a cite that stated that 125 were operational and modifying the text slightly to agree with the cited source. I have also notified User:MWAK (a principal author, as you may recall) of my edits so he can do a fact-checking read-through. -- Diannaa ^TALK 22:55, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

If the user requests protection of pages in his own userspace, they are usually protected regardless of the lack of recent vandalism. For example, I have my talk page archives semi-protected because I don't want IP vandals to edit those pages. Since I requested protection for pages in my own userspace, they got protected. Hi! In response to your question, I was not aware that there were copyright issues and I would not know what to look for in that respect. The article is in nice shape, but there needs to be linking of names of towns, countries, and people. The top half is pretty thoroughly linked, but it was late when I edited and I just wanted to get to the end. You mean copy-vios? Yes, I have begun to but I know that there are several articles that still contain word for word from the site. It is my understanding that we can still use it a regular source but since it is copyrighted, things muct be reworded and paraphrased. It appears that pages in your userspace, Jakkinx's userspace, and Orangesodakid's userspace have been vandalized by a couple of IPs. We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly. Hunter Kahn ( submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B. TonyTheTiger ( submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible.
