Hi Laura In view of the discussion about the Disability swimming page, I'd like to fly an idea past you. If [[Disability swimming was to be a brief article (inspired by your post at the aforementioned discussion) instead of a deceptive redirect it would solve the problem. Take a look at a concept text I've quickly scribbled at User:Dodger67/Sandbox#An idea for the Disability swimming page. We could probably do a similar "disambiguation" for other redirects that have the same problem. Roger (Dodger67) ( talk) 12:39, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it's been over eleven days since the issues were identified, and nothing has yet been done to address them. I'm very interested in improving coverage of women's basketball. I thought briefly about forming a Wikiproject, but while researching, realized that a task force would be ideal. There are two major advantages of a task force over a Wikiproject. First is that the task force can leave some of the bureaucracy to the parent Wikiproject. Second, and possibly more important, is that a task force can have more than one parent Wikiproject. While WikiProject Basketball is an obvious parent, so is WikiProject Women's sport, and the task force may be able to draw from both.
According to this process for starting a task force, the first thing to do is gather consensus, so I am sending this to some editors who have been active in editing relevant articles. If there is sufficient interest, I'll take a first stab at filling out the task force template and creating a draft task force page.
At this point, all I need is an answer to two questions:

The Wikimedia Foundation and the Individual Engagement Grants Committee invite you to submit proposals for grants of up to $30,000 to support 6-month projects that improve the Wikimedia community. These grants fund individuals or small teams to organize, build, create, research or facilitate something that enhances the work of Wikimedia’s volunteers.
The deadline to submit proposals in this round is 30 September 2013. You can also get involved by joining the IEG Committee to help select proposals, or by collaborating on ideas for new projects in the IdeaLab. Hope to see you there! Netha (talk) 21:25, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Laura, I haven't read your analysis in detail yet but if it is as objective and thorough as your first study then thank you. I was going to give you a barnstar of good humour for the Gibraltar-esque articles you wrote. So this barnstar is for a number of reasons and it should maybe be a bunch of barnstars but they are not daffodils.. I'm particularly pleased to see that we have active volunteers and 1000 new articles in a year covering three countries. Its not a bad total. Respect and best wishes. Are you familiar with the overall pageview cyclicality. There was an article on it in WP:POST, IIRC. It showed which times of day and which days of the week had had higher page veiwerships. It did not analyze time of year.
I am not sure how you divided up the DYKs. I was thinking that a sort based on categories or talk page project tags might be a useful thing to consider.-- TonyTheTiger ( T/ C/ WP:FOUR/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:WAWARD) 17:09, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Between May 1 and October 31, when The Wikinewsie Group Newsletter first began tracking original reporting taking place across all projects, 227 stories have been published by 78 reporters 14 different language Wikinews projects. The projects with the greatest number of reporters engaged in original reporting were English with 15, Russian with 14, Polish with 13 and French with 10. Beyond these, original there were one or more journalists engaging in original reporting on Catalan, Chinese, Esperanto, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Serbian, Spanish and Ukrainian. The peak month for reporting across all projects was May with 52 articles. It was followed by June with 49, August with 44, September with 43 and July with 39.
In the past four months, Spanish, Polish, French, Ukrainian, Russian and English have all produced over 20 total pieces of original reporting, with Russian Wikinews publishing 41 stories and English Wikinews publishing 60 stories.
LauraHale, RockerballAustralia, Antanana, Agamitsudo, Dmitry Rozhkov, Plogi, Krassotkin, Schekinov Alexey Victorovich, and MadriCR have each produced 5 or more pieces of original reporting in the past four months. Another group of users, Joan301009, Bddpaux, Computron, Laslovarga, Fed4ev and Yakudza, have produced four articles each.
For September, only three pieces of 43 original reports produced were translated from one language to another. They were Wikinews interviews specialists on China, Iran, Russia support for al-Assad, Wikinews interviews Dr Thomas Scotto and Dr Steve Hewitt about potential US military intervention in Syria, Atlético de Madrid defeats Real Madrid 1-0 in 2013 derby and Tokio gana la sede de los Juegos Olímpicos 2020. Original reporting is a major strength of Wikinews. It is one we should be playing to. The Wikinewsie Group would like to encourage everyone to assist translating Wikinews work into another language, or finding a local reporter to assist with translating a work from where it was originally published into that language. This will benefit all languages, promote more cooperation between projects, and expand news reach for our reporting which we can leverage to provide more opportunities for reporters.

Hey, I was just wondering if you could perhaps explain your prod rationale for Football in Australia (disambiguation) in a little more detail? As someone who knows nothing about football(s) in Australia it seems like a useful dab page; that is to say, per the lede of Football in Australia someone searching for "football in Australia" might be looking for any of the first five articles listed on the dab page. I've read some of the extensive discussion at Talk:Football in Australia but I'm afraid I still don't really get it. What consensus do you think is being evaded? And am I wrong in thinking the dab is possibly useful regardless of possibly impure motives for its creation? – Arms & Hearts ( talk) 12:26, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Thank you, I see lengthy well researched articles in underrepresented areas. Which makes me feel churlish to mention Wikipedia:NCP#Multiple and changed surnames.

Are you familiar with the overall pageview cyclicality. There was an article on it in WP:POST, IIRC. It showed which times of day and which days of the week had had higher page veiwerships. It did not analyze time of year.

Thank you, I see lengthy well researched articles in underrepresented areas. Which makes me feel churlish to mention Wikipedia:NCP#Multiple and changed surnames. Rightly or wrongly we don't use the Spanish maternal name in titles on en.wp. I've moved Verónica Pamiés, but you can always put it back if you disagree. There may be others. Best wishes. There is a mistake in all the articles created about the Spanish players team in this Games: Spain did not won the bronze medal, it finished in fourth position after losing the last game against the USA ( Link). So, we must remove all the medals in that related articles.
Anyway, thank you for your great work in these articles. Gonzaka ( talk) 11:26, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
