my story today |
Congratulations! -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 07:25, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
fireworks on the Rhine pictured on 1 July, but the real stars were sun and moon. I love today's story. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 22:26, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
On today's Main page, you can find a cantata that Bach first performed 300 years ago, and an iconic saxophonist from East Germany. Also: a bit about the history of QAI on my talk. Thank you for being part of it! A new member designed a user box that I adopted. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 16:47, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
While today's DYK highlights Santiago on his day, I did my modest share with my story today, describing what I just experienced, pictured. I began the article of the woman in green. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 16:25, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
Today Jahrhundertring, written ten years ago, and I just listened to Götterdämmerung from the Bayreuth Festival (pictured), - the image (of a woman who can't believe what she has to see) features also on the article talk. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 21:12, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
On 30 July 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jon Stewart's 2004 appearance on Crossfire, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that three months after Jon Stewart went on CNN's Crossfire and told the hosts that their show was "hurting America", CNN cancelled it and fired co-host Tucker Carlson? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jon Stewart's 2004 appearance on Crossfire. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page ( here's how, Jon Stewart's 2004 appearance on Crossfire), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Apologies as I didn’t see your explanation until after I redid the edit. I’ve read that article three times now and no where does it state or even imply that “critics” elevated Stewart over Carlson. Even if that were the case, it’s an opinion piece. I feel like it’s important to be neutral when posting about politics and that gives the article a biased left slant. Johnnytucf ( talk) 01:43, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
High-minded critics nodded in approval, contrasting Crossfire’s 21st-century lousiness with the erudite debates that had taken place on older shows like Firing Line or The Dick Cavett Show., but I more meant that they elevated Stewart's arguments over Carlson's. theleekycauldron ( talk • contribs) (she/her) 01:45, 31 July 2023 (UTC)

Hi Leeky, I did a qpq review of this article yesterday, but may have made a mistake: /info/en/?search=Template:Did_you_know_nominations/Maggie_Tokuda-Hall I gave it a tick for approval, but I see the DYK checklist has inserted a red X for sources. The problem is that there are four key paragraphs that are summaries of four books, but don't have a cite. Probably easily fixed, by citing to the four books themselves. I put that suggestion in the "Comments" section, along with some other relatively minor matters. But now there's a review with an X and and checkmark. I don't want to touch it any further, in case I make it worse. Could you or someone else on the DYK project take a look? Sorry about that. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz ( talk) 14:46, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I don't have any questions about PSHAW, I downloaded it a while ago using it to promote hooks is fairly straightforward. However I think it would help new promoters to mention it at WP:DYKNA. Obviously it is not urgent as it has been around a while. Otherwise they will probably find the link via edit summaries. WP:PSHAW has most of the information needed, except possibly a reminder that DYK processes should be followed before clicking on the tool. TSventon ( talk) 17:59, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

In prep, a woman looks at me, a bit mocking it seems. ... that opera singer Berit Lindholm (pictured) was said to have been called "that damn primary school teacher" and used it in the title of her memoir?
If we really have to have a joke as all we say about her (a man's description instead of her achievements, many words saying so little about her), can we at least have dramatic soprano instead of "opera singer" (she was one of the top three of the few at her time!), and a link to the Royal Swedish Opera for "her first director" (in whose article that house isn't even mentioned). Otherwise, this could be a small voice at a small house in some provinces at any time. - I am a news person, and like to give facts a time and place.
