This is hard work, eh? Thanks for the constant attention to the article. Now "Production" is its own section and the singles subsection has been trimmed, the "Music" section looks skinny. Is there any way we could change it to look more like this? I don't know where we'd get all the quotations from though. DAMNDAMNDAMN!

Hi- I noticed some of your recent edits regarding article importance. The Video games project recently updated their importance scale, and one result of the lengthy discussion was that all articles about a single video game would be not be rated top importance without a discussion at WT:VG. If you think some the games you rerated to top deserve the rating, you are welcome to start a discussion there.
Also, if you are interested in helping with assessments, the VG project has an Assessment department that rates articles and offers basic advice to editors. There are several experienced editors there that could use the help with assessing and would help you learn the ropes. Feel free to post on the talk page if you're interested. You've definitely done a great job, especially on the now-referenced gameplay section and plot. For the plot, it might be nice to include something about what sort of range the ten endings encompass, something I wouldn't be surprised to see a review at least mention briefly. I did add the development information from that IGN interview I found, but couldn't find much else, as nice as it would be to expand this section further (I don't know if that would hold up assessment). I trimmed the censorship section to keep the quotes in the refs, as it seemed a bit redundant to include it twice and wasn't significantly adding to the article to have them listed in the prose itself. Also, you'll need to check the reference for the initial ESRB rating as it wasn't in the given reference (I've added a couple of tags for that section, one of which is next to the reference in question). Finally I wonder whether the reception section isn't a bit short and could do with some more information; perhaps splitting into either what was appreciated followed by what wasn't, or into sections by elements such as gameplay, audio etc. and then using quotes to explain the reception to each, but perhaps that's just a stylistic choice. SynergyBlades ( talk) 16:57, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
The comment about multiplayer mode under reception seems lonely, can more be said about it from other sources? If they all state the same thing, then that sentence should reflect it. Since I'm not seeing any reference on Sonic Team there is also a issue in the lead. In the lead it mentions what happened to Sega Studio USA, but there's no source for this. « ₣M₣ » 21:18, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't get round to replying sooner. Admittedly I'm not well-versed in the subtle nuances that separate a Good Article from a Featured one, as editors more experienced than me tend to find things that I don't notice. I do like the rewrite of the Reception section, as I prefer to see an ordered breakdown of the criticisms levelled at a game, which it now does really well. I'd also suggest just watching out for the use of semi-colons as a few I've seen (and edited) are a bit awry; for instance, using one to break up a sentence then using "and" directly after doesn't really work, grammatically (the "and" acts as a conjunction to connect the two parts of the sentence, but the semi-colon just before it breaks it up, e.g). Good luck with the nomination, and let me know how it goes! SynergyBlades ( talk) 00:30, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Truth be told Dave cited the one thing wrong with it I'd cite: it needs more referencing for reception and whatnot. Have you tried hitting up periodical databases like MyWire?-- Kung Fu Man ( talk) 02:51, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Tezkag72, on behalf of Wikipedians everywhere I present you with this barnstar to recognize your efforts improving video game articles, especially Shadow the Hedgehog (video game) and Sonic Rush. Keep up the good work! — Levi van Tine ( t – c) 11:04, 14 April 2009 (UTC) |
The problem is that both the image description page and caption of File:ShadowTheHedgehogMultiplayer.JPG don't really meet NFCC. we need non-free images to significantly add to the article, and be the subject of critical commentary. For example, File:Uru screenshot.png illustrates not only the environments of the game which were praised, but the custom avatars and third-person view of the series--also covered by reviews (especially the clunky third-person control). Another example: File:St6-excelsior and shock wave.png illustrates the appearance of the ship, but more importantly the appearance of a massive wave, to which a full paragraph is devoted explicitly to. The wave itself became important (as the praxis effect) and describing its intended scale and appearance and how it was manipulated arguably does suffer without the reference. The image also shows a model which was filmed with a unique and at the time cutting edge method of seperate light passes to result in a crisp edge in postproduction. I could go on, but you get the idea. For Sonic, think about the content of what you've written. For example, there is nothing in gameplay about the homing attack--but it's mentioned in detail in reception. Why not beef up gameplay and switch with an image showing the attack? For similar issues at FAC, read through the stuff for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron which deals with image reduction and prioritizing elements, nfcc issues and such. It should prove enlightening. cheers, Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs ( talk) 15:31, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Hit up the points you mentioned. Could you take a gander and give a shout for support or oppose, or mention anything else I might fix in the article? Oddly seems not many people are looking at the FAC this time around...-- Kung Fu Man ( talk) 10:39, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Send me an email via the Special:EmailUser bit (you can't send attachments onwiki). I'll reply with some of the stuff I've found. -- Der Wohltempierte Fuchs ( talk) 22:19, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

The VG Barnstar | |

I've seen you around, actually (I have a very large watchlist), and I'd be happy to copyedit. I'm in the process of finishing up another request, though, and I tend to space out the copyediting over a few days (for a medium-sized article, such as the one requested) in order to avoid brain lockup from staring at the same text for an extended time as I tweak the wording. I'll try to get to it in a week or so. — TKD:: {talk} 03:02, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi! Since you helped peer review the article back in March, I thought I'd mention that Planescape: Torment is now a featured article candidate. All comments would be much appreciated. Thanks! – Drilnoth ( T • C • L) 13:50, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Due to an apparent lack of interest, the WPVG Newsletter will be switching from a monthly publication schedule to a quarterly one. The next issue be delivered on July 1, 2009, and will pertain to the second quarter of the calendar year. If you have any comments regarding this, or suggestions to improve the newsletter, please post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games/Newsletter.
Hello Tezkag72. Eh, Issue 195 (Sep. '05) is the Hog Heaven one (Issue 194 (Aug. '05) has Mario Kart DS on the cover). Anyway, neither one of those has the Shadow the Hedgehog review; that's in Issue 199 (Jan. 2006), which I have. I'm happy to provide you a scan of the page with the review and all the other information you'd need for a reference, but I'm a bit confused; why do you need this information if you already own those issues? - sesuPRIME talk • contribs 14:10, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
