Regarding the composer from Mérida: no rush, I found English sources (which I didn't anticipate when calling for help)), he's nominated and found a supporter already. Best wishes for RL! Note- no rush or action required on this. I can see you are busy working on GA nominations. I came across Fannie Mae Ward Birckhead (1935-2022) when writing an article on her daughter, Janeen L. Birckhead. Her bio here [8] summarizes her accomplishments as the first Black woman to hold many positions including mayor and local judge. I found some articles: [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16]. I am not sure that she meets GNG because she was a local politician and judge and all of these articles are in one local newspaper. If you get a chance, could you check to see if you uncover anything else? TJMSmith ( talk) 14:06, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

Women in Red 8th Anniversary |
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! …I would say of every characteristic that has shaped me, being a woman is the most foundational…
Thanks for sharing that comment. This general idea has come up in other related discussions (not necessarily having anything to do with women, but with identity) and I was wondering if you could help me understand it. As a man, I don’t have the same idea or belief, but I do acknowledge that other men do. My question is this: in a better world that I can imagine (not this real world), where you were treated differently, where you had every opportunity and access that men do, and where there was no discrimination against women in any sphere (again, not this world, but a more perfect world that we can imagine), would you still feel the same way? Again, your answer will give me insight into other topics, so I thank you in advance. Viriditas ( talk) 23:09, 22 July 2023 (UTC)

Hi, SusunW -- I hope you're well. I was reading back over the GAN for Elizabeth Maitland, Duchess of Lauderdale while reviewing it at FAC, and saw your replies to Christie and the nominator about nominating shorter biographical FACs. I'm looking towards a potential FAC for Elisabeth Geleerd, which is about ~1400 words at present (expanded ~250 post-GAN). If you have the time, do you have any thoughts or comments on the article? I'm not rushing to FAC -- I have another article to FAC first, and it's still waiting at GAN -- but as someone who myself is hesitant about shorter articles and quality-review processes, and mostly writes non-biographical articles, I'd be interested in any of your expertise. three-pronged portrait of autisticseems as if it should be schizophrenic, as a few sentences above it states that the modern term is autism. 2) What is her legacy? Is her work still used, was it later deemed foundational or disregarded? Because I am curious, although possibly it isn't necessary to state in the article, what was her chronic illness? Perhaps these are helpful observations. Good luck with FA. SusunW ( talk) 14:41, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

On 9 July 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Eliza Stephens, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that while Eliza Stephens worked as governess for Mary Eleanor Bowes, she supported Andrew Robinson Stoney's schemes to seduce her employer? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Eliza Stephens.
On 17 July 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Palmire Dumont, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Palmire Dumont, a pioneer of LGBT nightlife in "Gay Paree", was among the first members of the French Bulldog-Owners Club (her dog pictured) and met other bulldog owners in her lesbian bar? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Palmire Dumont.
Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap! |

My story today pictures a friend whose birthday is today ;) - we listened to music she helped publishing - at a fancy place (which looked different when Bach played there). -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 20:06, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
On today's Main page, you can find a cantata that Bach first performed 300 years ago, and an iconic saxophonist from East Germany. Also: a bit about the history of QAI on my talk.
