Hi Ser, I noticed that you are currently categorizing singers as "musicians", but that should not be done unless the singer also plays an instrument professionally, as that is what the category " musician" refers to -- instrumentalists. Could you please revert those additions you made? Thanks. Softlavender ( talk) 03:58, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
That's correct, as far as categories go, but we singers feel offended when people say "the singers and musicians" ;) - See also the question on my talk which I therefore could not answer, also because of professional vs. "for the love of music", - look for "musician". -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 08:39, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Could you please consider NOT doing edits such as the ones happening here?
One: You are removing asterisks from before calls to the "FM station data" and "AM station data" templates. These templates provide their own asterisks (for list items). But removing the asterisk does not change the rendered text. So your edit does not affect what users see.
Two: Similarly, you removed trailing spaces from the last sentences in paragraphs. But these spaces do not make any difference in the rendered text. (The extra space is even removed during the rendering. Check the end of this paragraph vs. the previous one. The rendered text doesn't have a trailing space in either case, but there's one here in the wikitext.)
Edits that do not affect the rendered text do not help the encyclopedia. On the contrary, you are adding clutter to the articles' edit histories and to editors' watchlists. This wastes other editors' time, as they check up on the edits.
All for edits that do not change the reader's experience in the slightest - let alone improve it.
Please consider these points in your future efforts. Thank you. Jeh ( talk) 05:03, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

I understand that your main concern is creating and adding your categories, though again, I don't understand why they have to be generic and not narrower (like, I can't see why you would add "20th-century male writers" and "Romanian male writers" instead of just creating a "20th-century Romanian male writers"). But would you please try and find the categories a proper place in the queue? You can see the categories arranged in some order, then you just add yours, always and always at the bottom: as here, but also in about 1,000 places where you just leave them. Planning on spending Saturday getting photos up your way: PW and Fairfax counties, and Fairfax/Manassas/MP cities. I note that a bunch of sites are in parks, and I wondered if you could share experiences as to which ones are easy to get and which ones I really shouldn't bother attempting in the first place? For example, the Orange and Alexandria Railroad Bridge Piers would be nice to get, but I don't feel like discovering that there's no real access to this portion of Bull Run Regional Park. And aside from spots that the county lists say are on military bases, are there any restricted-access sites? I know not to bother with sites listed as being on Fort Belvoir or USMC Quantico, or Fort Myer in Arlington County, but I'm not clear exactly which sites are on bases. Hello Ser Amantio, I see that you recently did an edit for the article I created for Joel Agee. The page still has the notice that there are not enough references, although I added some after it first appeared. As I have not made many contributions to Wikipedia, and I believe the one on Joel Agee is the first entire entry I have created, I just wonder if the notice will ever be removed...or if Wikipedia would perhaps prefer I add even more references? I see it's possible to manually remove the notice, but I would be reluctant to do that if I thought I would be overreaching my level of expertise. Possibly you are an editor of a sufficient level to know what if anything I should do next? Thanks for your help, Panicale ( talk) 16:08, 21 April 2018 (UTC)Panicale
Thanks for your encouragement Ser Amantio. I spiffed up the entry a bit. I moved two of the refs to the end of the paragraph so that readers will not think that the final sentence was not included in the material to be referenced. Please stop adding this to paintings - Wikidata is nowhere near good enough yet. I just checked two WD entries - Arnolfini Portrait was absolutely riddled with errors, including calling it a painting of the Holy Trinity. Thanks for fixing my incorrect format at,

At - /info/en/?search=Almanac_Singers, I want to change 'Peter Hawes' and '(John) Peter Hawes' to 'John "Peter" Hawes', with the same syntax as 'Baldwin "Butch" Hawes', because "Peter" is John's nickname according to the book.
Neither brother yet have their own Wikipedia page so I have no place to add a Bibliography entry for the following book's 62 line biography of Butch Hawes. Both were born in Cambridge, MA. Butch was born September 21, 1919, but the book does not say when John was born. Butch played guitar, banjo, and fiddle and sang, and was a songwriter and a commercial artist, but the book does not say what instrument(s) John played. Butch and John's photo can be found at, http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/1/28/folk-singer-activistpeteseegerdiesinny.html - so John played the guitar. Per https://folkways-media.si.edu/liner_notes/smithsonian_folkways/SFW40021.pdf - Butch and Bess were married in 1942 and John was born in 1917 and died in 1973, month & day of his birth/death are unknown. Also, https://alchetron.com/Almanac-Singers - has several photos of the Almanac Singers but the individuals in each photo are not identified.
I can't figure out how to fit together all the above pieces into the required proper <ref> syntax. There are errors in the "Preview of references" that I don't know how to fix? Can you help? Thank you.

Carptrash,
Smallbones,
7&6=thirteen,
Okay, so I've had a low-level obsession about the
Brooke Mansion (Birdsboro, Pennsylvania) since 1984, when my favorite professor in college gave a lecture about it. It's one of
Frank Furness's great residential works, and the best-preserved of his 1880s houses. Yesterday, the owners held an open house as a fund-raiser for the local women's club. I stood in line with more than 1,000 people to get a good look at the interior. (Actually, I arrived about 2:00 when the line was at its longest, left to do some errands, sat by a shady creek and read the Sunday paper, did the puzzles, and finally got in line about 4:40. I still didn't make it inside until 5:55.)
It was well worth it. The spaces are taller than they appear in photographs, and the architectural elements are oversized and exaggerated (like Post-Modern architecture and 1980s furniture). This was the closest Furness got to Single Style, but he missed (or rebelled against) its horizontality. In George Brooke (Edward II's father) he had an ideal client, extremely rich, architecture obsessed, whose son was engaged to the granddaughter of the uncle who had raised George and his brother (after they were orphaned in the 1820s). George Brooke had hired Furness in the early 1880s to expand Birdsboro's Episcopal church, and it's likely that the mansion was Furness's own design (not just his office's).
The entrance and hall are dark, but sumptuously decorated. The future Mrs. Edward Brooke II loved flowers, and they abound in leaded glass, wrought iron, cast iron, carved stone and carved oak. The windows of the 1st floor are large and let in a surprising amount of light (considering how thick the walls are). The 2nd floor windows are of the same scale, although 3 of the 4 bedrooms were cut down in size, for bathrooms and a hallway. The 3rd floor landing has a frosted glass ceiling (about 8' x 16') once lighted by a now-blocked skylight. It and the back stairs must have been drenched in light.
The upkeep of the exterior has been neglected. The building was restored in the 1990s as a commercial property (wedding/event location and B&B), but it's been on and off the market for more than a decade. The owners are approaching retirement (and probably exhausted). The mansion's contents are being sold at auction in September, with the mansion itself as a separate sale (likely with a healthy reserve).
So my curiosity was satisfied, and I took lots of pix, a couple dozen posted so far. Best, == BoringHistoryGuy ( talk) 15:51, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
I know a couple of people who grew up, or who now live in, Rose Hill - there was a Civil War raid there. I've also done some work on Franconia lately, and intend to get to some of the other parts of the county sooner or later. I have to say, too, there's been a good waymarking effort by the county historical society over the years. Very useful for sourcing. -- Ser Amantio di Nicolao Che dicono a Signa? Hello, again.
I have a question for you. I have just discovered that I have received credit for some edits that I DID NOT MAKE! In fact, you may have reverted some of them. I don't have time to research this right now (real life calls!) but I found this in the article Ed Herrmann, which you seem to have been editing concurrently, or watching. (Mar10? May 10? I think March.)
I am not a baseball fan. I don't dislike the sport, I just don't have much interest. When I do my wiki-gnoming, I generally work on an article I came to read. Also, the edits which were made are edits I MYSELF would revert, if I ran across them. I'm mystified.
I have used public computers for editing recently, but my practice is to turn the computer OFF when exiting, which I would think (first I log off) would be extra insurance against someone using my login.
Where should I report this? I can change password, of course, but do you think that is enough? I know techie friends have told me about discovering key-logging devices on their personal machines. I sure don't want to see a lot of bad edits credited to my username. What do you think? rags ( talk) 13:09, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

The article Barcelona, Aruba has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
I can't find any reliable sources to indicate that there is any place named Barcelona on Aruba. I've checked Google, GBooks, GNews, GScholar and found nothing, not even a trivial mention. Neither Aruba nor the Netherlands in general puts out an official gazetteer or atlas that I can tell, so I'm unable to verify on any government-issued source. Even the technically unreliable but usually useful Google Maps doesn't show this name anywhere on the island. Since we cannot verify this information, it must be deleted.

Hi! I noticed quite a few nurses on my watchlist moving from American nurses to American women nurses, so thought I would touch base. It does seem a bit odd to me (as an ex-nurse, and current man) that these categories exist. I see they're non-diffusing, but given the relative paucity of Wikipedia-notable nurses who are men, especially when subdivided by nationality, it does seem rather unnecessary. For that matter, men in the profession usually work pretty hard to avoid getting labelled "male nurse".
Is "women nurses" even grammatical? Cheers, Basie ( talk) 22:02, 15 June 2018 (UTC)

Hello,
I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews. We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.

Hm. Since mid-March, I've just not uploaded much of anything; I'm finishing preparing a book for peer review, and I've just not taken the time to upload pictures. I've made several trips with not-yet-uploaded photos: Newport News and James City County in early March, western Goochland County (just Belvidere, Second Union School, Tinsley Tavern, and Elk Hill) a few days later, Fairfax County and city later in March, Greensboro NC in early April, isolated spots in western Maryland in mid-April, central WV in mid-May, isolated spots in Indiana in early June, northeastern NC two weekends ago, and DC last weekend. This weekend I'm looking to finish Mecklenburg County and Brunswick County, and before long I hope to get Page County partly or mostly done.
I'd say just go ahead and ignore what I've done (except for western Goochland County), and I'll eventually catch up. I'm going to get back into the swing of things before too long; I'm almost ¾ done with the last main stage of work on the book, and then it will just be error-checking before I submit things to them. Email me if you want more details. Nyttend ( talk) 04:07, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

Your talk page, while completely within your rights to have it your way, is somewhat difficult to look at. For me, anyway. Both on Firefox and Chrome. I see the Contents box on the right hand side. On the left, I see the archives scattered down the left-hand side page, And below that, the first couple of threads visually overlapping on the left hand side and scrambled. Maybe this is the way you want it. I've never seen the archives listed in the Contents box before.
But ... if you happen to be looking for a more condensed way of handling the archive box, please have a look at how it is on my talk page. I use the
Template:Archive box collapsible, and it wraps it up really neat. I forget who I stole the idea from, somebody really notorious famous on Wikipedia. Just a thought. Your devoted fan.

I don't think there's much point in adding {{ Taxonbar}} to extinct species (of plants, anyway) – like the Acer species you recently processed – because the taxonomic databases that display in a taxonbar don't cover extinct species, so no taxonbar appears.
And I added some material to his career, and referenced it. Maybe this will lift the cautionary veil...by whomever makes those decisions! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Panicale ( talk • contribs) 18:13, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

Thank you Ewitch51 ( talk) 20:26, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
Hello Ser Amantio di Nicolao. I'm compiling an e-mail list of participants from the GLAM-Wiki/Leadership Boot Camp last weekend. On Sunday we made a list of e-mails, and I didn't see yours on the list. I'm not sure if that's because you weren't there, or if you simply didn't want to be included in the e-mail list. If you'd like to join it, please e-mail me your e-mail address ("email this user" should be available from the left sidebar on my userpage). Thanks! Hi there - I see you made a change to George J. Dufek recently. The edit says "(Removing from Category:American aviators using Cat-a-lot)" Dufek was in fact an aviator (it say so right in the opening sentence of the article) so I wondered why you removed this category? Thanks Bookgrrl holler/ lookee here 14:19, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
Also, same question regarding your change to Dorothy Norman "(Removing from Category:American women writers using Cat-a-lot)"
I noticed that there are no tabs for film and tv for Kevin Costner. I know you just edited the page but who would I talk to about this missing info on him? 207.44.21.18 ( talk) 22:10, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
Hello Ser, why was the category 'Ghanaian politician' removed from the page Ambrose Dery'? TereseB ( talk) 10:01, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

Sending you a kitten, as a reminder of the good work you do.
Also, a quick note about the Utopia, Limited quotation: since it's dialogue, perhaps each line should be on its own line? Up to you, my friend: it is your page, after all.
Anyway, carry on with your great work!
