While I work in software dev, my company is in the engineering field. They're currently working on a training program for the draftsmen. One of the engineers has been collecting examples of different drawings off the web for a reference library, and considering my background in drafting, he asked my opinion of File:2up 2Down perp stairwell 19th century standards.png, which he'd found on Wikipedia, as a suitable example of a straightforward architectural drawing.
Naturally, I informed them that I think it's a brilliant example, and shows multiple hallmarks of incredible skill and some true genius on the part of the draftsman. I opined that it was possibly the greatest example of a floorplan and elevation I'd ever seen. I added the view that whoever had commissioned it had to be possessed of a rare brilliance, as well. ᛗᛁᛟᛚᚾᛁᚱPants Tell me all about it. 15:39, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Hey Ritchie. I'm currently dealing with this user right now, and they're having problems with close paraphrasing on this article that they're working on. I removed some text they added as a close paraphrase of https://www.forgottenweapons.com/brazilian-lapa-fa-modelo-03 after their edit was flagged at copypatrol, and dropped a note on their talk page explaining why I removed the content. They didn't respond there, but it appears they read it since they then made this edit to the article, where it appears they are trying to more thoroughly paraphrase the content. The problem is is that the content they added is still a close paraphrase. I think the content should be reworded, but I do not know much about guns and I am unsure about what is and isn't copyrightable in the edit. I also don't want to have to block a user who appears to otherwise be mostly copyright free and has done good work expanding stubs from what I've seen. However, it seems that may end up happening since they have not directly responded to notices on their talk. So I'm posting this here in the hopes that more eyes can be put on the situation, and maybe you or one of the stalkers know someone who can help out when it comes to these kind of articles. Thanks, Moneytrees🏝️ Talk/ CCI guide 03:19, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
I'm sure nobody is "everyone's cup of tea", but I get your point. This mass set of edits appears to fall foul of WP:MEATBOT, unless I missed the discussion which concluded with a clear consensus to "inline tag" bare URLs. Tools like reFill don't work well with that approach and so each edit by the user in question has to be undone and then fixed. And it would appear that the user's AWB script is doing a bit more than just tagging bare URLs, so now we have to pick our way back to the previous version and preserve anything useful before running the scripts. I'm not sure this should be allowed to continue at 20 pages per minute without further community discussion, but as you've intimated, no-one likes me, and as the user has exclaimed "DO NOT REPLY". So there we have it. I guess all Wikipedians are equal except for those who are not. The Rambling Man ( Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 17:18, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
Martin, it's a pity that TRM is unwilling to acknowledge that many other editors do find the tags useful. Their approach seems to be the because they take a particular view, that's the end of the story.
TRM's choice to label the tagging a "mad" (both here and on another page) and as a "tirade" is just another example of the aggressive incivility that led me to kick him off my talk. It's also a very silly comment, because speed of tagging neither makes a bad tag into a good one, nor a good tag into a bad one. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 20:12, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello. I am reviewing this block as part of my regular monitoring of CAT:UNBLOCK. I have to say this does not look like a good block. The IP was not only blanking content without explanation, but also making violent comments about the user [3]. This was vandalism pure and simple, the edit summary used my Manticore does not change that fact.
I have blocked the IP's /64 range for a week with talk page access revoked for their "bn the shit out of him, kick him in the dust, hang him feet first, and shoot him a hundred times, like they did with mussolini" comment.
I am fully confident that Manticore was acting in good faith and I see no chance of the edit war continuing considering the IP has been blocked for their violent comments. Re: Marriage and BLP
Most IPs don't have the time, energy or interest for Wiki-admin minutiae. Like many of them, I just want to find good information and hope to add some from time to time. I literally had this same, stupid fight happen 12 years ago on a spouse issue. Admitted disinterest in procedure on my part is one thing, but the zealous, bureaucratic blocking of accurate data is against the entire spirit of Wikipedia's existence.
I have zero patience for anyone who immediately prevents updates based on understanding policy solely rather than grasping facts. Honestly, it's just bizarre to me that the simple addition of a spouse's name leads to punitive dismissals rather than productive assistance.

People talking about the minimum standard for inline citations aren't really explaining why we do that, which is the important point. The motion at the Amendment request: Arbitration motion regarding Ritchie333 and Praxidicae has been enacted after it reached majority support and the amendment has been subsequently closed. The problem with Drill it is I've not seen him string together a coherent sentence that would sit in an encyclopedia article. Consequently, I think he's going to get blocked sooner or later the next time he mistakes a good faith edit for vandalism and is staring at an unblock request. Some "near misses" include edit-warring on Alyssa Carson (can be explained by WP:3RRBLP), India at the 2020 Summer Olympics (either vandalism or an IP getting frustrated, either way a revert is correct) and Susan Stryker (revering possible BLP violation back to consensus, but the IP looks like good faith). Then there's the discussion elsewhere that suggests he's a sockpuppet of CLCStudent ( talk · contribs) (has anyone run a checkuser?). Anyway, nothing warranting an indef block yet, but I think it's just a matter of time. I'm not going to comment on the IP's issue because WP:BEANS. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:57, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

interaction ban between Praxidicae and Ritchie333 is amended after the last sentence to add Parties may discuss the existence of the ban, and examine its implications, but remain forbidden from discussing each other and interacting with each other.

Thank you, Ritchie. I didn't feel right saying anything. I was a bit unnerved by the use of my mother's name. I don't know if it's a sock account or not but it kinda bothered me. -- ARose Wolf 10:50, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

This edit removed comments from several other users without notifying them. Seems like a really weird action in an AfD discussion, but I don't go there often, maybe I am wrong? SusunW ( talk) 20:55, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi Ritchie333. I've got John Lennon's first book, In His Own Write, up as an FAC. Given your work on some Beatles articles I thought you may be interested, but I understand if not. Cheers. Tkbrett (✉) 00:17, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
Hey. Could you maybe get the user to agree not to edit war on that page any more so that the partial block can be lifted? It's causing a bit of disruption at RfPP ( diff) due to the bot not wanting, multiple-multiple times... Best, El_C 18:18, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
Hello Richie -- With the goal of helping to progress the WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) women’s rights-themed GA nomination goal for 2021, I’m proposing that WiG hold a special editathon event in the fall (maybe October/November?). I can assist with logistics, but I need to know how much interest/support there might be from WiG participants first. Please let me know what you think in the talk page conversation! All the best, Alanna the Brave ( talk) 02:21, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
I will never be able to repay your enthusiasm in the online poll which led me to deciding to run for moppage. You kids made me feel welcome and worthy. Now all I have to do is not screw it up. You know where I am. (Hold my) Feet to fire if need be. BusterD ( talk) 15:49, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi, I saw that you're in the "Wikipedia administrators willing to handle RevisionDelete requests" category and I wasn't sure if there's a specific page I can ask someone to remove an edit summary. I was hoping you would be able to remove the edit summary by Offerdeer at The Wachowskis due to the language used. Suonii180 ( talk) 20:02, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

Car booty boy |

Dai is at the car boot sale when an American tourist comes by. Pointing to a skull on display in Dai's car, he says: “Whose skull is that?” “That,” says Dai profoundly, “is the skull of Owain Glyndwr. It's yours for £10.” “Incredible,” says the American. “I'll take it.” Some weeks later, Dai is at the car boot sale when the same American walks past and notices a much smaller skull for sale. “Whose skull it that?” asks the American. “That,” says Dai in a practised voice, “is the skull of Owain Glyndwr.” “Hang on,” says the American. “You sold me the skull of Owain Glyndwr a few weeks ago.” “Aye, well see... ” says Dai. “This is when he was a boy.” |
