May I add this is not the reason - but it has prompted me to start - I am not writing this page to fan the flames of fame but as an academic excessive - I am a serious writer of fiction, an educator and someone who has a long standing relationship with digital media throughout my professional career, I also taught celebrity in an academic context and seek to examine it as a phenomenon, as I (hope) I have outlined in what I have written thus far. I would also add that perviously I have had an unpleasant experience with Wikipedia when I wrote an entry about a lady who had done charitable work which seemed to enrage the editors. Thanks for the reply. In that case I would suggest editing out the end part but it is otherwise a fact that candy canes are sharp and regularly cause small injuries and have been used as weapons. The toothbrush article also does have a section called "adversity of toothbrushes" where the primary purported disadvantages of toothbrushes are discussed. In addition, toothbrushes can only be used as shivs with effort and extra tools whereas candy canes are inherently sharp and become more so during routine use. And as a side note you didn't include a reason or explanation in your edit, it would have been helpful to have something just to understand rather than just a simple reversion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4B00:858C:8800:D9EA:48DA:62C4:BA95 ( talk) 23:07, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
But the original research point is only an issue with the last part of the edit (which I suggested removing), and doesn't address my other points. Fundamentally, everyone who's ever eaten a candy cane knows that they become sharp, this is just common sense. If you google it (and I have) you'll find a huge number of social media posts confirming that kids everywhere are regularly using these to stab each other for fun and occasionally causing proper injuries. Although not necessarily sufficient individually, they are in aggregate capable of proving the point and it's fundamentally missing the essence and appeal of candy canes to reference the one toothbrush in every hundred million that is used as a shiv as a reason for not mentioning the universal pointiness of a sucked candy cane. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4B00:858C:8800:D9EA:48DA:62C4:BA95 ( talk) 23:23, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

OK, will do. NB The edit was not primarily about stabbing someone with candy canes as you suggest - there was a single reference. I note also that the article on chewing gum has a number of similar controversies referenced so I'm sure once I've raised this on the article page for candy canes it will be incorporated in due course. And not everyone knows about the risks; only people who have actually eaten candy canes do whereas Wikipedia is also meant to be informative for people who haven't, so that's why it's worth mentioning. This is his page that I created: /info/en/?search=Draft:Gholam_Reza_Salim
I compiled information from my family to create this page. There is no published information on him in English which you could check so I was wondering if you would reconsider your rejection. I understand the importance of reliable sources, however I am not able to provide anything in English.

Not sure what other references I can get during the pandemic.

McMatter: You are missing the point of Wikipedia. It is not an avenue to tell the world about your business or products. Your draft was written from the viewpoint of the company and in the tone of pamphlet by the company. It had zero encyclopedic value. I would suggest you move on to something else.

I need you to make sure it's not racist, it's not discriminatory, and it's informative. I am a human. There should be equality, freedom. I respect your decision, just as I respect the website wiki made available to readers around the world. I am trying to provide information on wikipedia to ensure that it is in accordance with wikipedia's rules. But I am not satisfied if my attempt is rejected. I would like to reiterate that ALS is a brand in Vietnam since 2007. Has 14 years of operation. In Vietnam, ALS is not Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) /info/en/?search=Amyotrophic_lateral_sclerosis Internationally: ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis According to Vietnam: ALS stands for Aviation Logistics Corporation

Why are you targeting to any particular surname. There is nothing wrong to display notable peoples name and all are valid. If you are removing from Kushwaha then you should remove from all other surname as well like Verma,pathak,yadav,jha, sharma, srivastava etc.

Hello Mcmatter,
At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.
Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.
In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 803 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 855 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.
This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.
If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

Hello Mcmatter,
At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000 [a] at the end of May.
Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size. [b]
In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).
While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).
A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by
buidhe and
Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up
here.
Barnstars will be awarded.
Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.
There is a new template available, {{
NPP backlog}}
, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:
Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 13758 articles, as of 10:00, 16 July 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot
There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.

Hey. I seen that you reviewed and declined my submission for "Jaegen" the producer. What can be done to make it sound less of an advertisement? I feel as if it does not read as such, but should it be less descriptive of the works he produced? and more simpler terms? Either way, if it takes me removing more info from the Early Life and career bit, would it be valid then? Along with adding more references of course. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yooonnng ( talk • contribs) 00:21, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello,
You recently rejected my grandfather's wikipedia page for not having reliable sources, however this would be the first page on him posted in English.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Narouni ( talk • contribs) 21:30, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
Hi,
I'm new to starting a page like this. [ [1]]. I did it because there is so little on this Victorian artist on the internet. The information is from the Royal Academy of arts Exhibition catalogs which are available on line now.
Not sure what other references I can get during the pandemic.

I feel unsatisfied with the admin's decision. Here is an example /info/en/?search=VinFast And here is my useful info -> /info/en/?search=Draft:Aviation_Logistics_Corporation I repeat this is useful information, not advertising. According to international : ALS is Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis According to Vietnam: ALS is Aviation Logistics Corporation
I need your help in reopening that information for everyone to understand the correct definition of ALS in Vietnam
Alslogistics ( talk) 05:58, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
McMatter: You are missing the point of Wikipedia. It is not an avenue to tell the world about your business or products. Your draft was written from the viewpoint of the company and in the tone of pamphlet by the company. It had zero encyclopedic value. I would suggest you move on to something else.
Rep: Can I create the form below? /info/en/?search=Als.com.vn
As far as I know, this article has been published. You don't think advertising https://vi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thegioididong.com

Hi Mcmatter, what can I use other than press releases as sources if the assumption is they don't qualify as reliable? I am in need of creating a wikipedia page — Preceding unsigned comment added by ATHS1919 ( talk • contribs)

Correct me if i'm wrong, is it that i need to have more citation/reference?

If you have removed notable people from kushwaha then why its there in Verma,yadav,jha, sharma, srivastava answer me, as per you it should be deleted from these surname notable section as well. Why are you targeting to any particular surname. There is nothing wrong to display notable peoples name and all are valid. If you are removing from Kushwaha then you should remove from all other surname as well like Verma,pathak,yadav,jha, sharma, srivastava etc.
I am waiting for your answer before you omiting notable people change. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ccd121 ( talk • contribs) 16:57, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
Give me the answer why have you not removed notable people names from other sur name such as Verma,yadav,jha, sharma, srivastava answer me. Then only remove the noteble people name from Kushwaha — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ccd121 ( talk • contribs) 21:40, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
thanks for the help making a revision but i still have 35 edits for today that i need to remove all on the draft: charles arthur williams. if i can't fix i need to get out of wikipedia totally and eliminate all edits i have ever made in reference to that article. can you help me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flagship1 ( talk • contribs) 00:19, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
the edits still exist. if i am the only that can see the edit then that is acceptable but if anyone can read one of the edits then i have a big problem. there is a link in several of the edits that i need to erase. if i delete the article entirely will the edits exist. this is a critical emergency for me and creating hours of work to protect private work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flagship1 ( talk • contribs) 00:51, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.
Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. So how am I meant to reference a citation if I am still writing the paper and I am the one who created the term?

If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page.

Sign up

There is a new template available, {{
NPP backlog}}
, to show the current backlog.
{{subst:NPR invite}}on their talk page.
