On 6 February 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Beryl Rawson, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in the late 1970s Beryl Rawson used computers to analyse the family life of Roman slaves? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Beryl Rawson. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, Beryl Rawson), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi Eatha78. I noticed your edits to this category and I do not think you may understand fully what a "diaspora language" is. An African diaspora language for example, would be an actual language in Africa taken elsewhere and its close derivatives. Creole languages for example in the Americas are not African displaced, rather they are "American" or of the Americas (European language + African contact = "Indigenous to the Caribbean"). here Example of languages of the African diaspora would be Lucumí language, Haitian Vodoun Culture language, Habla Congo etc. AAVE ( African American Vernacular English) taken to let's say Canada, is of the "African-American" (Black American) diaspora languages, opposed to simply an "African" one because its not from Africa.
Dialects of English is not African, its European actually. see this list languages The category here is not languages black people speak outside of Africa because if that was the case there wouldn't be a need for a list as there are blacks speaking Chinese etc. If they changed a sound to a Chinese word is it going to be listed in this category? That's crazy. Just as Ebonics being placed in this category. There's a reason why this category seemed "underpopulated" since 2009. There aren't many African diasporic languages out there. Most of them are religious-based only. Furthermore, the Transatlantic slave trade brought Africans to the western hemisphere, not of their free will. They were forced to lose their old languages and many came from different tribes that could not communicate with each another. If this wasn't the case and were allowed ro retain their tongue and it slightly changed or evolved, then this outcome that was preserved would be considered a viable inclusion into this category. See above mentioned. Savvyjack23 ( talk) 07:39, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Henry Louis Gates Jr., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Yoruba. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi, I have just been doing some work on the Trials of the Slave Traders Samo, Peters and Tufft, which now needs proof reading. This is quite straight forward. If you go to s:Page:Trials_of_the_Slave_Traders_Samo,_Peters_and_Tufft_(1813).pdf/2 you will find the wikified text next to the scanned page of the original. The little arrows at the top of the page enable you to go to the previous (←) or subsequent (→) page with the up arrow (↑) going to the index. This one of the contemporaneous texts which illustrates the points I have been making about the history of Sierra Leone. Leutha ( talk) 17:13, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Hello fellow project participants. Not sure how many users are still active as normal Wikipedia editors but felt the need to attempt to get a gauge on who can be called on for help with articles falling under the umbrella of the African diaspora project. According to the project's article table there are over six thousand articles related to the African diaspora; there's not a hundred at FA/GA grade and there's over twelve hundred that are unassessed. With Wikipedia being one of the major information reference points in the world today we should consider this unacceptable. Much work needs to be done on the rating of the importance of articles as well. With more communication amongst participants and a dedication to addressing the articles on the to-do list I believe we can make this WikiProject one of the most well organized and thorough on the site. If you are interested in collaborative work with some of your fellow project members, have certain expertise on any particular subjects, ideals on/about the WikiProject, etc. simply drop your name under the "Project revision" section I've created on the project's talk page and state your intentions and main points of interest in our WikiProject and we can attempt to move forward from there. Hoping to hear from everyone soon! WikiGuy86 ( talk) 03:43, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi Kelly, thanks for helping me improve the Minet Library page. I recently helped an architect who is a resident of Myatt's Fields South Estate to create a page for that estate, and someone quickly started arguing for its deletion. Do you think you could have a look at it if you have time and see if there's any way you can help improve it. I think that a lot of good sources for it won't be available online unfortunately. [29]Changes this week
Visual editing
and Source editing
instead of Switch to visual editing
and Switch to code editing
. This is because it was confusing when the menu said you could switch to the editor you were already using.

Future changes
-{
is used in
transclusions or
web addresses it has to be
escaped appropriately. You can use -<nowiki/>{
for transclusions and %2D{
in web addresses. A transclusion could for example be when you use -{
in a template: {{1x| sad :-{ face }}
. This is because of some code fixes to the
preprocessor and affects all wikis.

Problems
mediawiki.util
library does not load automatically any more. Your
Special:MyPage/common.js may use it. If you have technical problems that started a couple of weeks ago you can try adding mw.loader.using( 'mediawiki.util' ).done(function(){
as the first line in the file and });
as a last one. Tech News wrote about this in the
2017/18 issue.

the full list of wikis with this problem and help fix them to avoid that things break later this month. You might find
false positives. You can
