You can read Wikipedia:Administrators and Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. If you have less than ~2500 edits then I wouldn't go for the position cold as you probably don't have enough experience to satisfy the majority of the contributors at RfA. To prepare for the position, you should continue to contribute to all relevant areas of Wikipedia - the main Article space, the project space (pages beginning with Wikipedia) and the user space (Talk pages). Admins have three powers; to block users from editing, to protect pages from being edited and to restore deleted pages. You can participate in admin related duties by patrolling the New and Recent Changes pages and spotting and tagging pages for deletion based upon the criteria found at WP:CSD. You can also warn vandals when you tag their pages. If you haven't done this before then I would watch the pages and see how people actually patrol. I would also watch the Category:Candidates for speedy deletion and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion to see how people perform the tasks and back their opinions up with policies and guidelines. You can also report persistent vandals to the administrators' intervention noticeboard. When you have done some of the above, you can also sign up for Admin coaching for future guidance. Advice on Editing

I suggest that you exercise some level of restraint and maturity in your editing. I don't want to violate don't bite the newcomers, but you need to review Wikipedia:Style (as well as Wikipedia:How to edit a page) and clean up your language and spelling. I have trouble decoding abbreviations and mis-spellings written with zero puncuation.

I also note that you have made only three edits to articles, and that these edits are all non-constructive (do not add admin tags all over the place). I can accept that these are due to unfamiliarity with the Wiki, but that gets strained when you've made so many edits on talk pages and your user page. Remember the rule of the Wiki: be bold. Don't spend all your time on Wikipedia asking for advice on talk pages: read the pages at Wikipedia:Help, play in the Wikipedia:Sandbox, and when you do make edits, make them constructive and well-written. If you make a mess, clean it up. The page history is there for a reason.

Some notes about your user-page (paraphrasing from Wikipedia:User page): your user-page is not a website. A picture of your dog may be acceptable, or it may not be. If you wish to present yourself on Wikipedia as receiving inspiration from the animal, well and good as long as you make good edits, but if you just want a place on the internet to hold your pictures, try MySpace. On a related note, you have put a sockpuppet tag on your page. I get the joke and it is somewhat funny, but it took me a few minutes to figure it out. The sockpuppet notice is a serious charge associated with editors who are playing multiple accounts to get past investigation and block. You might consider removing it.

Final note: you have placed the counter-vandal-unit userbox on your page. Counter-vandalism is very laudable, but at the moment your edits haven't countered much vandalism (in the sense of reverting vandalism or reporting vandals to the Admins). Take a look at the guidelines at Wikipedia:Vandalism, and if you want vandalism to revert, try the recent changes button. That is still one of the best ways to catch vandals. Michaelbusch 08:17, 24 November 2006 (UTC) reply

Ok i will remove it but is it really that bad? Also in i have tried like on the Wii discussion page but it did not work -- "P-Machine" 04:35, 27 November 2006 (UTC) reply

The activities of the counter-vandals are to locate vandalize articles, fix them, and place warnings to the relevant editor's talk page. When the number of warnings passes a threshold, the vandals are listed under Wikipedia:Vandalism and the Admins determine the appropriate action (generally blocks). The first is the most essential to the project. With regards to the sockpuppet: at first glance it makes you look like a sockpuppet of a deleted user account called hisdog. I had to examine the page history to figure it out. Michaelbusch 05:37, 28 November 2006 (UTC) reply

Well, I don't really think of rank on the wiki, but I suppose the first thing is making a number of significant edits. Once you have that you can try and become an arbitrator or an administrator. There is no real rank or prestige that I've noted. Not even Jimbo can control all things. A project that certainily wouldn't hurt would be to participate in discussion on the WP:AFD pages, it can be a very effective way to learn the various policies. Keep on keeping on. I'm wrapping up my participation in an RFarb, which is a thing you don't want to know about - trust me. It's an awful, lengthy process that Wikipedia uses to ban more than one editor for a very, very, long time (or indefinitely, or forever).
I ran into an editor who is an extremely unpleasant person on, like, my third or fourth day here. I'm providing evidence against him that will help get him banned - which is very likely. Trust me, it's not anything you want to be a part of - ever.
So I'm running out of time, and I have to get back. Okay? NinaEliza 07:35, 1 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Sorry about the confusion. He is just doing the typical troll stuff. Vandalizing my page and subpages with personal attacks; I wasn't really concerned until I found out that another user has his IP address. You may not be the only user who shares this IP. If I had know I wouldn't have started out with the only warning template. The next step is getting this user blocked, and like I said you (and anyone else) will get caught in the block. Please do what you can to switch your IP, or else you will get caught in the block the next time this IP trolls me. -- T H L R CCD 06:21, 3 December 2006 (UTC) reply

A troll is anyone who tries to disrupt Wikipedia and make it less useable or user-friendly. When I, not necessarily everyone, say that someone trolled me, I mean that they attacked me by trying to annoy me or vandalize my pages. -- T H L R CCD 06:30, 3 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Article deleted or vandalized

Dear Admin,

I'm a loyal Wikipedia user and reader and I do encounter a vandalizing problem from this page, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWE , which I found the ONLY words of "woop dee do bazzel" (At 10.50pm, Monday, GMT+8) . I was trying to read the histories of WWE but the page itself is deleted or vandalized. Possibly done by a loyal and fanatic of TNA (Total Non-stop Action) wrestling, who may also possibly a WWE-Hater.

Hope you take this notice in action and this time apply the WWE article as non-editable by normal users and marked the entire article with the "Due to the recent vandalism..." sign. The recent cases I heard is that TNA and possibly its fans are trying to bash against WWE.

Thank you very much for noticing.

Sincerely yours, WWE History Reader

EDIT :

I'm so sorry, sir. The WWE page seems fixed and it's back online as normal on 11.05pm, Monday, GMT+8 . Don't know how did that happen. I truly apologize for my actions, please forgive me. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, WWE History Reader

What would you like to? I'll try to point you in some directions. NinaEliza 06:38, 7 December 2006 (UTC) reply
A small tip: when you encounter a new user who has appeared to vandalize, check his user page before you issue a warning. It could very well be that they don't know what they did was vandalism.
If you want, you can actually put a welcome template on there instead. In fact, I notice you don't have one. I'll be right back. NinaEliza 06:46, 7 December 2006 (UTC) reply
So here is a link to the template page. you can just right-click (if you have a PC rather than a Mac) and copy the template that you want from the page. Then just paste it in the edit of the user's talk page (it's good to put it on top for them).
You can welcome other new users who haven't vandalized or done much of anything yet, too. Check out the Welcoming Committee at the Community Portal. That's a fun job - you'll learn a lot just by asking questions, and you'll make new friends.

Let me know if this is helpful. If not, we'll try something else. NinaEliza 06:59, 7 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Just add it in, as long as it's phrased encyclopedicaly it should be fine. If you just refer to the episode and describe what happened that'd work. If someone reverts your edits take it to the talk page where it can be worked out. Rever e ndG 07:28, 27 November 2006 (UTC) reply

Rank

Well, I don't really think of rank on the wiki, but I suppose the first thing is making a number of significant edits. Once you have that you can try and become an arbitrator or an administrator. There is no real rank or prestige that I've noted. Not even Jimbo can control all things. A project that certainily wouldn't hurt would be to participate in discussion on the WP:AFD pages, it can be a very effective way to learn the various policies. Keep on keeping on. Rever e ndG 06:31, 28 November 2006 (UTC) reply

Thanks

It is a useful tool. Not really that hard to get once you get over 250 edits. As long as you don't get into conflicts or vandalize. Rever e ndG 18:25, 29 November 2006 (UTC) reply

Hi Foo

Yes, you can have two adoptees, if the editors agrees. PLUS, I could help YOU, if you wanted. I'm touched that you'd be willing to adopt me, though:). NinaEliza 06:59, 1 December 2006 (UTC) Please don't be offended... reply

I'm sorry, I'm sure you could help me in a number of ways. I didn't mean to imply that you were short on knowledge. Everybody's equal here - or at least we have the equal opportunity to learn and teach. That was a poor choice of words on my part, but made in good faith. I appreciate you correcting me. NinaEliza 07:10, 1 December 2006 (UTC) reply
Hey, you don't have to tell me I'm Afro-American:). What I meant to say was that we're all equal on Wikipedia, and only in our opportunity to learn and teach (among other things). But point well taken! NinaEliza 07:16, 1 December 2006 (UTC) reply
Sure we are! By the way, would you mind saying something on Reverend G's talk page so that he can come back sometime soon? And do you have a cable modem or something? Because your responses are super-fast...lol NinaEliza 07:20, 1 December 2006 (UTC) reply
I see. Well, I have to get back to some things I was doing, because it's almost time for bed here. Happy Editing! NinaEliza 07:26, 1 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Dude

I can have two adoptees, it's okay. There is no real policy on that. It's not like I wouldn't be able to help both of you. Rever e ndG 18:09, 1 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Your IP

You must not be the only person who has that IP address. You may consider unplugging your modem to get a new IP address. The other person who has been vandalizing my page is probably going to get himself blocked, and by an unfortumate extension you will be blocked as well. I'm sorry about this, but I have to do what I have to do. -- T H L R CCD 06:13, 3 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Thank you.

Sincerely yours, WWE History Reader

i dunno anything about this but thanks (i guess)-- "P-Machine" 05:47, 7 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Adoption

Hello, Foo12! I see that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. I accept your request, being an experienced editor myself. Whether you want to learn about wiki markup, find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm the one you can talk to - just leave a message on my talk page. Good luck with Wikipedia!

Yah, feel free to ask any questions you may have about Wikipedia, I'm here to help. If you are ever in a situation where an editor is being a dick (watch your language here, many editors are Fascist), just leave me a message and I'll help out. Peace out, -- Mad Historian3 00:35, 7 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Thanks to Mad Historian and I'm glad you stayed, P! I hope we're still cool. I knew in time things would work out for you here. I don't know what you've been up to, but I hope it's good, and good for you. Feel free to let me know about things you've learned or things you've achieved here on Wikipedia.

Take care, NinaEliza 03:07, 7 December 2006 (UTC) reply

You're welcome:). I have more than a minute now and looked at your user page. You're on the counter-vandalism team - and you have one of my favorite userboxes;)! That's fantastic! NinaEliza 05:48, 7 December 2006 (UTC) reply

You're very welcome. As far as I'm concerned, you can be here as little or as much as you want - just help out when you can. :) NinaEliza 05:29, 12 December 2006 (UTC) reply

I put this on your user page by accident - sorry! NinaEliza 05:50, 12 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Hi P

Sorry you got vandalized. Believe or not, the first thing you want to do is put a welcome template on his page, then a vandalism warning. NinaEliza 06:05, 12 December 2006 (UTC) reply

I don't think I would really want to adopt you because I've only been here a little over a month myself - there is a lot I don't know. The welcome templates are located here Wikipedia: Welcome templates. Just cut and paste the one that looks right from the list - probably an anonymous ip one. Let me know if you have any other questions - it's almost time for bed for me.

Late Welcome To Wikipedia

Greetings, I am Acalamari. This is a late welcome, but I didn't see you on the New User Log last time I checked it. It seems you've been quite busy. Don't worry about the autoblocks; I had one very recently. However, I advise you not to get yourself into the three-revert-rule, as I got myself into one. Just be careful when you edit, that's all. Again, greetings. Acalamari 19:43, 14 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Read this: Wikipedia: Three-revert rule. Also, read the part in User Talk: Acalamari where I was blocked for breaking the three-revert rule. Acalamari 20:53, 14 December 2006 (UTC) reply
I think that's correct. Wikipedia needs these laws to help protect against vandalism. I accidentally broke the three-revert rule, and I was punished accordingly. All I'm saying to you is: be careful when you edit. Acalamari 15:55, 15 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Offering Adoption

Hi Foo12,

I see you have been offering adoption to new users. I have to query this, as you do not meet the criteria of 500 edits to be an Adopter (in fact you do not even have 250 edits yet) - please find the criteria at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adopter's Area. I suggest you come and discuss this on my talk page or at WP:ADOPT. If you do adopt before then I will have to explain the situation the new user involved. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have, and remember to "be BOLD!"- I'm here to help you; no question is a stupid one. In the mean time, here are some pages that you might find helpful, in case you haven't already gotten the official welcoming:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Content removal

Unless you're leaving Wikipedia permanently, it is generally a bad idea to remove valid comments from your talk page. If the reason is that it is too long, you may want to archive it instead. -- Czj 07:30, 23 January 2007 (UTC) reply
