Edward,
I see that you have established a tag on the Victor Vescovo article. I would like to help satisfy your concerns, as I believe that his recent activities in the Challenger Deep are an important event in history. My book, "Deepest Pioneer", the history of the Bathyscaph Trieste will be distributed later this year by the US Naval Institute Press, and its concluding chapter compares the early technology of the Trieste when it made its dive to the bottom of the world's oceans in 1960, to the technological revolution displayed by Vescovo's tour-de-force at the Challenger Deep in 2019.
Many state that the Earth's final frontier is in the polar regions, and they may very well be right -- but if so, then the deep oceans are not a frontier, but rather mankind's first glimpse of an alien world. Vescovo's aggressive employment of revolutionary deep ocean technology is demonstrating that this alien world can now be entered safely at modest cost.
I'm sure that Lindbergh and Earhart were originally called self-promoters and adventurers, but their history-making flights demonstrated to the general population that manned-flight had come of age and would soon be entering the common weal. They are both now cultural icons and rightfully warrant long encyclopedic biographic articles. Vescovo is another of that ilk, at least in my opinion.
Recently, the Guinness Book of Records recognized him as holding the record for deepest manned dive -[1] This should be compared to Lindbergh's non-stop flight across the Atlantic; and Earhart's first women to fly non-stop to Europe as a demonstration of maturing technology.
Using this new technology, Vescovo (in 2020) returned to the Challenger Deep and escorted the first woman -- Astronaut Kathryn Sullivan -- to the bottom of the world's oceans. This and other dives may look like promotion, but they serve to educate a public to a new capability. A new capability with consequences just as unforeseeable as were those of Lindbergh's first long distance flight.
Under my nom-de-wiki "Gwyncann" you can find some of my work recording all of the research vessels that have investigated the Challenger Deep. I'm not a very experienced participant in the Wikipedia project, but I want to ensure that the historical importance of the recent radical improvement in deep sea technology is recognized and documented on Wikipedia -- including a proper biography of its most visible proponent today -- Victor Vescovo.
Can you educate me and guide me in the proper tone of academic disinterest for the Vescovo article? What, specifically, are the elements that need to be addressed in the present write-up?
When I contacted Wiki editor Samholt6 with the same question, he replied:
Reply to|Gwyncann}} hello, and thanks for reaching out with this concern. As far as the Victor Vescovo article is concerned, my edit history there is very brief - I visited the article in September of 2019 in the wake of a WP:COIN investigation and tagged it for containing undisclosed paid editing, but later was successfully engaged by User:Vlvescovo (the discussion can be read here), and convinced to remove my tag. I have not edited the article since then, and the tag currently on the article was added in this edit this June. The article in question remains on my watchlist, but for now I have other topics I would like to focus on and as such will likely not be playing an active role in this process. As far as advice I can give you, I recommend you start a talk page discussion on why you feel the tag should be removed. As for any changes to the text of the article, you can be WP:BOLD add any content you feel should be included (keeping in mind WP:COI, which discourages but does not disallow editors with a conflict of interest from editing relevant topics) keeping WP:BRD in mind. Alternately, you can use Wikipedia's edit request feature to discuss potential changes on the article talk page. Wishing the best, as you clearly have an interest in improving Wikipedia. SamHolt6 (talk) 02:14, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
I am prepared to start a talk page as Sam suggests, but thought you might have some thoughts on what specifically needs to be addressed to remove the existing tag.
Thank you in advance,

A tag has been placed on Category:Burials at St Peter's Church, Petersham requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Hey there, regarding the Luiza Trajano article. I would like to understand how you think your edit has improved it quality-wise. I get the point about not naming children unless they're independently notable. One of them is, but... regardless. Your edit of the article's headline cut at least four hyperlinks ( businessperson, chairperson, retail and corporate group) I thought helped cross-reference Wikipedia's content. You did leave other hyperlinks in the headline so I'm assuming this is generally not against Wikipedia's manual of style.
Also, and more importantly, you changed businessperson and chairperson to businesswoman and chair, respectively. As it happens, Wikipedia recognises the former as primary spellings (check their article titles). I think Wikipedia is right. Businessperson is gender-neutral while chairperson is less informal than 'chair', and still gender-neutral.
Finally, you forgot to add a full stop at the end of the headline, but I'm happy to fix that in case you don't have plans to continue editing it.
As I intend to keep helping Wikipedia, it's important that I get the right feedback from more experienced editors so I can learn how to make fewer mistakes and contribute more lasting edits. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing back from you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Somerset145 ( talk • contribs) 14:26, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

There is currently a discussion at
Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.
Help please with Business Initiative Directions entry/article. Hi Edward,
First of all sorry if I'm writing in the wrong place and sorry for my poor English (I'm not an English native speaker) I write to you because you wrote me back, and I have not been able to contact with someone else inside Wikipedia. Neither I understand the way this website works... I find no chat boxes nor anything. I must confess I'm and old man, and perhaps because of that I found this site incredible hostile. I write to you because since august someone posted an entry on Business Initiative Directions. Its a Spanish marketing agency that sells different products and services (I have no economic relation with them, except for the fact that the owner is an old friend and an old man like I) I want to be clear on the fact that yes, I know this company, and yes, 30 years ago (or more I don't recall) I worked with them several times. It's a marketing company, but the entry accuse them of selling "fake awards". They don't sell awards at all. They do advertising and corporate events. In their events they charge a fee, this is no secret, neither is illegal in anyway. They have 50 years operating inside Spain and now inside the European Union legal framework. Their HQ is located behind the Ministry of Defense in Madrid... every soul there knows them. They offer international business gatherings, and charge a fee for that (among other things more related to traditional marketing, like flyers, magazines and banners... they don't do digital because most of them are old people that don't even have social media) This article is destroying them... based on nothing at all but the opinion of a company that got the invitation to the event and got mad because they wanted to go to an business convention in Paris for free... this people then wrote to a so called NGO that decided to wage war on this small Spanish marketing agency. They created the Wikipedia post and used all the bad press against the company to destroy their prestige...everybody has bad press... this is not fair, neither I humbly believe, was the idea behind Wikipedia. I think Wikipedia was meant to be an encyclopedia for humanity. Not a corporate revenge instrument. Please, help us and guide us on how to deal with this. My friend is asking me if their version of the post could be taken into consideration. All complains of the NGO are addressed there, and even a mixed version will be acceptable for them, but what is cruel and brutal for this company reputation is to post only the NGO version... that is not fair.

Hi, I am writing concerning the UPE tag on the Everette Taylor article. I wish to remove it as I have actively edited the page, adding info and citations and I didn't collect a dime for my edits, I don't want my reputation smeared over some other editor's mistake. I hope my work on the page is adequate enough for you to consider taking off the banner. Thanks
Information are directly extracted from regional media sources but also from the US (e.g CNN, Bloomberg). Since the beginning of my intervention on this page (but also before if I am right), several sections have been taken off because they were "too promotional".
In most of the cases, my interventions are objective bullet points, they are simply presenting and don't have any subjective elements. It is simply not consistent and coherent to systematically remove them. They respect the rules of Wikipedia. Shall I request third parties to step in in order to validate the extracts in question ?

I have noticed that in a number of cases, you have not been very responsive in your nominations in spite of talk page messages and/or pings from other editors, leading to longer reviews and the stalling of efforts to address any concerns. If this pattern continues, there is a real risk that your nominations may need to be rejected due to non-responsiveness and staleness. In the future, please make sure to respond as soon as possible to DYK comments and check back on them regularly. Thank you and happy editing. Edward,
I see that you have established a tag on the Victor Vescovo article.

Please reflect carefully on contributions from Impsfan who wages a campaign breaching neutral point of view in editing politician’s pages with excessive and absurd detail, repeating sensationalist accusations without balance and often unsupported by the primary material. Impsfan’s attempts to imply I have a COI are absurd and simply the result of my actions to protect this page from his vandalism. BingBong2001 ( talk) 21:35, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello Edward, and thank you for your contributions to DYK.
