Hey, I'm about done with all I can think of on Malaysia. Is there anything which you feel is missing desperately from the article which could be placed there? I think Culture could use more sections, but I don't see that as an immediate priority, it shouldn't stop it reaching GA or A status in my opinion. Maybe one day though, Lat will make his appearance on the main article, under some sort of literature section. I noticed that Lat is almost a FA, very nice. Anyway, as you posted the last review, any comments you have should be useful.
I'd also like to apologize if I came off as brusque or insulting in any of my comments/edit summaries etc. I never meant to offend anyone. I'd also like to commend your work on the Malaysian wikiproject, been surfing through it, must be frustrating to make all those posts and receive no response, and to have such limited participation! Thank you for assessing with the PPI, assessing with this project will probably be different than assessing with other projects in Wikipedia. It's different because the many of the articles are stub, start, or C class, and we are not working to assess long lists of articles, but will have multiple reviewers assessing the same set of articles. We are looking for Wikipedians who want to take a more in depth look at assessment and help define what is article quality. Please go to the WP:USPP Assessment page to find more details and your assessment page with the first group of articles for you to evaluate. Thanks and happy editing, ARoth (Public Policy Initiative) ( talk) 21:48, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
We are half-way through our final round, entering the home straight.
TonyTheTiger (
submissions) leads at the time of writing with 1180 points, immediately followed by
Sasata (
submissions) with 1175 points.
Sturmvogel_66 (
submissions) closely follows in third place with 1100 points. For those who are interested, data about the finalists has been compiled at
Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/finalists, while a list of content submitted by all WikiCup contestants prior to this round has been compiled at
Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Submissions. As ever, anything contestants worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at
Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the
WikiCup talk page.
Despite controversy, the WikiCup remains open. Signups for next year's competition are more than welcome, and suggestions for how next year's competition will work are appreciated at Wikipedia talk:WikiCup/Scoring. More general comments and discussions should be directed at the WikiCup talk page. One month remains in the 2010 WikiCup, after which we will know our champion. Good luck everyone! Why not create a custom Malaysia barnstar? Be much more reflective on peoples work. Could be based off something like these.

Thanks for contributing to WP:USPP, your assessments are a part of a deeper look at assessing article quality in Wikipedia. The quality and rationality behind the assessment scores by the Wikpedians on this project is really impressive, it is an insightful and knowledgeable group. There is some information about preliminary results of assessment data on the project assessment talk page, I hope you check it out and add your thoughts. There is also an additional article assessment request for you. This assessment set will wrap up the first experiment which analyzes the consistency of the quantitative metric and compares subject matter expert assessment to Wikipedian assessment.
The second experiment will start in November and you will be asked to assess articles and also provide feedback on the Article Feedback Tool. The results of that experiment will compare your idea of article quality to the ranking from the Article Feedback Tool and your input will help improve that tool. I hope you enjoy being a part of this research, I am pretty excited about the results so far, and am looking forward to continuing to work with you on assessment. I suppose I should've timed this message at 10:10:10 too, but frankly, I can't be arsed. You know how it is.
Did you know... that tenten in Japaense writing are a little wiggly thing, a bit like a quotation-mark, which makes e.g. "ka" (か) into "ga" (が) or "fu" (ふ) into "bu" (ぶ) ?
So, take time out to have a bit of a giggle.
All the best, and 10-10 'till we do it again. Chzz ► 08:49, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Bejinhan, thank you for contributing to article assessment for WP:USPP. Your assessments are very appreciated. There will be weekly updates about the research for this project posted here, look for the first one tomorrow. The next assessment request will come in early November. There is a lot of expertise and discussion about article quality happening in the project, so stay tuned. ARoth (Public Policy Initiative) ( talk) 01:14, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Greetings, the
Wikipedia Guild of Copy-Editors invites you to participate in the
November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive, a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy-editing. The drive will begin on 1 November at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on 30 November at 23:59 (UTC). The goal for this drive is to reduce the backlog by 10% (approximately 500 articles). We hope to focus our efforts on the oldest three months (January, February, and March 2009) and the newest three months (September, October, and November 2010) of articles in the queue.
Sign-up has already begun at the November drive page, and will be open throughout the drive. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a message on the drive's talk page. Before you begin copy-editing, please carefully read the instructions on the main drive page. Please make sure that you know how to copy-edit, and be familiar with the Wikipedia Manual of Style. Awards and barnstars A range of barnstars will be awarded to active participants, some of which are exclusive to GOCE drives. More information on awards can be found on the main drive page. Thank you; we look forward to meeting you on the drive! |
Thank you for agreeing to be my mentor. I do not currently have any questions, but I am sure I will in the future! Thank you! SPEAV622Fall2010 ( talk) 13:37, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Bejinhan/Archive 5,
We're starting to get into the busy part of the semester for Online Ambassadors, and we want to check in and see how you're doing, what your opinions about where we are now, and any feedback you may have.
Please answer these questions either on my talk page or send them to me by email.
1. How many mentees are you currently working with?
2. Have you reached out to students who don't have mentors yet? If not, would you be willing to?
3. What do you think of the content of messages on the Google Group?
4. What do you think of the volume of messages on the Google Group?
5. Do you participate on the Google Group much? If not, what would make you participate more?
6. Are there any problems you've experienced so far?
7. Is there anything else Sage or the rest of the Public Policy Initiative team could do to make your experience as an Online Ambassador better?
8. Are you okay sharing your username with your answers to our Public Policy Initiative team, or would you prefer to remain anonymous?
Thanks for your feedback! -- Ldavis (Public Policy) ( talk) 19:31, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I agree entirely with your remark about the hounding (and I'm in the "oppose" camp). That kind of behavior is really distasteful, but my remark on it was rebuffed. Couple of questions on the article.
-There's a reference to <ref>Ninth Schedule. Constitution of Malaysia.</ref>, this may be a stupid question, but what is that?
-Do you know what to do with the Japan photo? I don't know enough about images and the wikilaws surrounding them. I found the original source though, its hidden noted on the page.
-Lastly, do you know where the largest cities table is from?
Thanks. Chipmunkdavis ( talk) 08:13, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks LingNut. Yeah, the Malaysian government has yet to run their every decade census that they last took in 2000...sigh. Chipmunkdavis ( talk) 13:40, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
So, "Merdeka", should that translate to "Freedom" or "Liberty"? I've heard both used before.
I think the list will need to go, but I don't want to bite the new user. Perhaps asking him to move it himself to the Tourism main page? Chipmunkdavis ( talk) 01:26, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
The 2010 WikiCup is over! It has been a long journey, but what has been achieved is impressive: combined, participants have produced over seventy featured articles, over five hundred good articles, over fifty featured lists, over one thousand one hundred "did you know" entries, in addition to various other pieces of recognised content. A full list (which has yet to be updated to reflect the scores in the final round) can be found
here. Perhaps more importantly, we have our winner! The 2010 WikiCup champion is
Sturmvogel_66 (
submissions), with an unbelievable 4220 points in the final round. Second place goes to
TonyTheTiger (
submissions), with 2260, and third to
Casliber (
submissions), with 560. Congratulations to our other four finalists –
White Shadows (
submissions),
William S. Saturn (
submissions),
Staxringold (
submissions) and
ThinkBlue (
submissions). Also, congratulations to
Sasata (
submissions), who withdrew from the competition with an impressive 2685 points earlier in this round.
Prizes will also be going to those who claimed the most points for different types of content in a single round. It was decided that the prizes would be awarded for those with the highest in a round, rather than overall, so that the finalists did not have an unfair advantage. Winning the featured article prize is
Casliber (
submissions), for five featured articles in round 4. Winning the good article prize is
Sturmvogel_66 (
submissions), for eighty-one good articles in round 5. Winning the featured list prize is
Staxringold (
submissions), for six featured lists in round 1. Winning the picture and sound award is
Jujutacular (
submissions), for four featured pictures in round 3. Winning the topic award is
Sturmvogel_66 (
submissions), for forty-seven articles in various good topics in round 5. Winning the "did you know" award is
TonyTheTiger (
submissions), for over one hundred did you knows is round 5. Finally, winning the in the news award is
Candlewicke (
submissions), for nineteen articles in the news in round three.
The WikiCup has faced criticism in the last month – hopefully, we will take something positive from it and create a better contest for next year. Like Wikipedia itself, the Cup is a work in progress, and ideas for how it should work are more than welcome on the WikiCup talk page and on the scoring talk page. Also, people are more than welcome to sign up for next year's competition on the signup page. Well done and thank you to everyone involved – the Cup has been a pleasure to run, and we, as judges, have been proud to be a part of it. We hope that next year, however the Cup is working, and whoever is running it, it will be back, stronger and more popular than ever. Until then, goodbye and happy editing! Backlog Elimination Drive!
![]()
We have reached the midway point in our backlog elimination drive, so here is an update. Participation report — The November drive has 53 participants at this point. We had 77 participants in the September drive. In July, 95 people signed up for the drive, and in May we had 36. If you are not participating, it is not too late to join! Progress report — The drive is quite successful so far, as we have already almost reached our target of a 10% reduction in the number of articles in the backlog. We are doing very well at keeping our Requests page clear, as those articles count double for word count for this drive. Please keep in mind the possibility of removing other tags when you are finished with an article. If the article no longer needs {{ cleanup}}, {{ wikify}}, or other similar maintenance tags, please remove them, as this will make the tasks of other WikiProjects easier to complete. Thanks very much for participating in the Drive, and see you at the finish line!

Yes, I understand. I have been trying to look for replacement links, hopefully will be able to find some. I do not have access to offline entertainment sources here. That was what I mean, removing the info that is using references from ABC and keeping the rest. Thanks for the encouragement! =) I'll be taking a look at the link you placed in the 'Further reading' section and will work on it asap. That said, I might not have good internet connection over the next few days so I might or might not be able to edit the article. Bejinhan talks 05:50, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Be nice to get a unique one though, maybe a Malaysian flag with the 14point star replaced with a barnstar or something. Chipmunkdavis ( talk) 03:24, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
I found this lying around in wikipedia.
Thoughts on it?

Hi, I was wondering if you could do a quick DYK review for hook, date, and length at Template_talk:Did_you_know#Articles_created.2Fexpanded_on_September_30 for Carlos Celdran? I moved his article to mainspace on Sept. 30. Thanks in advance! ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 21:22, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

WP:BLANKING, a rule, states Policy does not prohibit users, whether registered or anonymous users, from removing comments from their own talk pages, Even if s/he is a sockpuppeter s/he is not removing neither of those:
{{ Noindex}} added to user pages and subpages under this guideline (except with agreement or by consensus). Note this can safely be removed from talk pages and subpages where it has no effect.
Yes I checked the history of the page, and the user, blocked or not, sockpuppeteer or no, he did not violate the rules above. Tbhotch Talk C. 17:46, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
On ANI you comment "Being brought to AN/I and receiving various warnings doesn't seem enough. " Enough for what? What do you think this would achieve that isn't happening already?

So be it, I guess, since there is little more than one can do but ask politely, but I feel really bad for the candidate. Thanks, Drmies ( talk) 20:15, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Bejinhan/Archive 5! Since Amy Roth's out on maternity leave, I'm pushing out the next round of assessments she needs. This time, we're comparing your assessment to readers' assessments. And instead of us assigning you articles, we're letting you pick! The full list of topics is on a subpage of the Assessment tab on our WikiProject. Please choose 10 of the articles to assess. Use the link in the section title to go to the appropriate version of the article.
Thanks for all your help! Please let me know if you have any questions! -- Ldavis (Public Policy) ( talk) 21:58, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Greetings from the
Guild of Copy Editors
