Haha! I hadn't noticed that the message was messed up before. Good eye. Just a tip that, in the future, when you see something in brackets like that, it's a template. To edit it, type "template:templatename" in the search box, then hit "Go" and you'll be brought to an editable page for the template. I went ahead and fixed the one you pointed out. → (... a reminder that I don't seem like a genius. — A.)
I hope this doesn't offend you, but you didn't seem like a genius. And you don't edit anything particularly brilliant, but rather, your edits seem to be just simple fixes here and there. How about completing the table of logic symbols? That's something I actually wrote on the article's talk page that I was going to do, but never did. Or how about "dumbing down," the articles on advanced mathematics and physics, so that, for example, the average reader can understand what the hell this means? At least maybe you can help me correct the article on Classical Liberalism. Robocracy 07:09, 17 November 2006 (UTC) aka HP_Owner in the IRC

I think you made the article On Aggression more encyclopedic, but I don't agree that my reference didn't support the claim (regardless of how encyclopedic the article was on the whole with it). Alas, my reference to page 94 fell out when I made the reference work, so perhaps you thought I meant the whole book. I'd be glad to hear your opinion on that. (– Uncas)

Sorry about the delay. Must have missed your message. It should be possible to do a white border background for 50 States flag.PNG. I'll go through my files at home to see what state it currently is in. One challenge is that, because of the white from the flag, it wouldn't have a significant contrast with the exterior, and I'm not sure if I've still retained the original US outline in the file or not. I'll get back to you.--

Not sure any more that a normal person can add anything to your Talk page, without first spending a week to study your archiving system :-) Anyway, I'm giving it a try. Your change here does show a fantastic attention to detail. I'd just like to throw in my two cents that it may not matter so much if archive pages get large (over 81kb), because I think no one ever goes there (I mean normal people, not like us). - Opt out without category
I followed the instructions on {{ Bots}} to protect my own pages, but the bot will still sign updates to pointers, {{ userlinks}}, etc. on other pages if the category is not added to them. Why not a HagermanBot/OptOut-like page instead of an only partially usable category? — Athaenara ✉ 00:19, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
The category is only to opt out a user, and is only placed on your User: page to make the bot ignore all of your contributions. {{ bots}}, however, affects everyone on that page, and it is only to be added to single talk pages as needed. Well i read the defination of a straight line which is most probably a part of your own orignal research. ummhhh... so you mean to say that the adjacent points lieing on the circle with infinite radius are linear. see, if you can visualise the straight line it can never ever form a circle. the angle formed between the two adjacent point would tend to be 180 degrees but would never be equal to 180 degrees. hence the defination you gave is a bit vague. thanks, (I also used to think the same what you thought of.) First, may I say that this is the most esthetically pleasing userpage I've seen on Wikipedia?
Second, It's becoming almost impossible to track what is happening in the edit wars over the CIA articles, but it appears you were putting in some stability. For that, I thank you.
It seemed wise and civil for me to touch base with everyone involved in this situation, hoping that some personal contact may calm the storming seas. I can only say that my intention, in working with original CIA articles and those that I spun off when it became impossibly large, is to improve NPOV and reliable sourcing. If I have an agenda, it is to introduce, into discussion of "CIA", that it does not always act unilaterally, but is following directions from the White House, and that it does things, such as !surprise! intelligence analysis. That agenda, unfortunately, appears to conflict with some that have a POV that the CIA is the incarnation of evil, any allegation of impropriety must be true, and to question this is "whitewashing".
Again, thanks for being bold enough to be involved in this mess. I hope we can get it back to some level of civility and valued content, perhaps with some way to link to the questionable allegations that some people want present, with perhaps less reliable sourcing. You may have noticed that the Military History project has started an Intelligence Task Force, and we are trying to improve the content of quite a few articles, not CIA alone. Unfortunately, some Wikipedia content in this area is more based on Hollywood than reality.
And yes...sometimes I believe reality is a crutch for those who cannot handle science fiction. :-)

Good evening. Hi Athaenara. I would like to request that you kindly unblock Oberiko. His work on the article World War II has been ongoing for months, subject to the Military History Project and discussed in talk, having gained relatively wide consensus among the project members. This may seem like ownership, however on complex articles like this it really does require a single editor to coordinate all the input. Flying tiger had not participated in significant discussion in talk, or attempted to following 2 reverts. I can assure you the project has capable admins as part of its organisation who are well able to deal with edit conflicts and institute blocks should hey be required. Please look into that block more. I have commented at the AN/I thread, and strongly feel that the 'even blocks for uneven behavior' is a poor response. It's clear from that article's talk, and the edit history, that Rewinn made far more effort than needed in dealing with CA, who had clear opposition from numerous editors for his edits. While Rewinn could've better used the WP:AN/3RR/AIV pages than he did, it's not like it's two random editors butting heads with no effort to solve an issue. Rewinn clearly made a large effort, appealing for patience, discussing at length, and so on. CA's responses are almost exclusively of the 'i'm right, you're wrong' variety, which almost always pisses off other editors. Look at the history and such, rewinn's patience is admirable, not criminal simply because it eventually wore out. Please reconsider and unblock. ThuranX ( talk) 06:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for asking, but since you are the first lady WP:Admin happened to meet [ here] and I took a sock from your nr. of edits, and your name seems Greek (..to me"). May I ask: Are you Greek? "Αθηνάρα", "ΑΘΗΝΑΡΑ" from the female name Αthenά. It is also in use from the funs of the city of Athens for the same purpose in their (unfavourable) comparison to other cities. Generally the -ara is a somewhat boyly or tomboy expression always used to sweetly superlativate something loved that makes you feel proud (friend, sport teams, etc), usually used as a moral reward for his/her character or for a feat. WP: exorcists: just a joking expression for admins using their privileges in a rather Draconic way, much the same way as the medieval exorcists used to use their privileges. See for example the nr. of users blocked by a typical WP:exorcist [3] and that of a typical good elf [4] after spending the same time (and same edits) in WP. Which is the reason the greek version of your name seems so much fitting to me :-) -- Factuarius ( talk) 01:57, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

When I first saw it in Wikipedia:Database reports/Long pages, MHp talk was over 1000 KB [see 16:35, 18 December 2009 (UTC) in the page history], more than an order of magnitude larger than many other "long" pages. It's now approximately 530 KB. — Athaenara ✉ 04:36, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Older browsers can accommodate only 32KB in edit boxes, so anything larger can be too long for those who use them. Otherwise, a guideline to consider a page as long is when it exceeds 50 topics.

Athaenara, I saw from the block log that you were active and wondered if you could give me some advice. An editor posted a request at EAR and I thought zie replies to other editors were inappropriate. I wrote a response and at the end gave a short warning. I know in retrospect that I should have posted on the user's talk page and that I was condescending in my response, but anyway, zie replied to me with a lengthy post including many variations on my name and the most creative representation of "asshole" in nonalphanumeric characters that I've ever seen. In the process of posting this hero's biography, I came to the embarrassing realization that sometime in the research/writing process, I changed him into William Ronald Turner. A tag has been placed on New York Press Club, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Not sure any more that a normal person can add anything to your Talk page, without first spending a week to study your archiving system :-) Anyway, I'm giving it a try. Your change here does show a fantastic attention to detail. I'd just like to throw in my two cents that it may not matter so much if archive pages get large (over 81kb), because I think no one ever goes there (I mean normal people, not like us).

At the Monty Hall problem, we're used to having our discussions around for months. Your latest archiving included diffs from December, 2009. Too soon, in my opinion. Glkanter ( talk) 03:27, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure what to do. It seems that I should not block this editor myself, because I was the subject of an attack and it seems silly to post on ANI. Danger ( talk) 02:49, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello,
If you are a super-alert person, the subject line should tip you off as to my problem with this article.
In the process of posting this hero's biography, I came to the embarrassing realization that sometime in the research/writing process, I changed him into William Ronald Turner. Because I will have to revisit the entirety of my research to weed any insertions of the wrong Turner, with resultant rewriting, I withdrew the article with the aim of reposting it when it has undergone massive correction. What will I have to do to repost it after correction?
