Hey Anna I hope you are well. I am reaching out to you today because I uploaded this image of me playing basketball https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sanjev_Rajaram_Assist.gif that my friend filmed for me using my phone. A wikimedia user raised the question of copyright but as far as all laws go this is my own work since technically I commisioned my friend Keith (work for hire) to film it for me so therefore it is mine. This issue I addressed here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Poyekhali/Archive4#Copyright yet they have not responded and my friend even sent them an email. I am getting irritated by this because there was no need for an OTRS ticket. Poyekhali has an Wikipedia account so he can join the discussion and address this :@ Poyekhali: -- Have a great day , Sanjev Rajaram ( talk) 15:33, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
( talk page stalker) If I may comment, as I have some knowledge in this area vis-a-vis:Wikipedia. As soon as a photo is snapped, the photographer owns the copyright and retains it unless they transfer ownership. As we learned from the Monkey selfie, it doesn't matter if the photographer owns the equipment they used to take the pic, the copyright goes to the photog. Oddly, transferring ownership is more in-depth than establishing the initial copyright. If it is a work for hire stipulating transfer of copyright, then when they deliver on their contract, the copyright is then transferred. A verbal "take my picture" is rather hard to confirm as a work-for-hire-with-transfer. Crow Caw 23:12, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi Crow, Poyekhali, and Sanjev Rajaram. I think this is all about using common sense in each case.
For the record:
If a person, per request, emails me a photo for their article, I will upload it on their behalf with their name as the author. I will ask that they send in an OTRS. Please feel free to dig through my uploads to be sure I have done that.
Now, this is about basic common sense and likelihood of violating someone's rights.
A: Someone has been at Wikipedia for a decade, 200,000 edits, admin, huge Featured Article creator. A family member or personal friend snaps a photo gifts it to them. They say "I do not want credit. Do not put my name on it. Put your name on it. This is now your property. No signed papers. You now own it. That's that." They upload it with their name as author instead of the button-pusher. Fine by me. If someone wants to make a fuss and say they should put "unknown" or something as author, okay. But what's the chance that they are lying and if the cameraperson knew, they would be livid? Teensy.
B: Someone arrives and first thing is an upload of a professional photo of Gary Larson with source " User:I just registered two seconds ago", author "own work"? What's the chance that they are not the author and owner and if the cameraperson knew, they would be livid? Huge.
Case by case. Common sense. Please say if I'm getting this wrong so I can adjust my beliefs.
So, about the original poster: It sounds to me like he said to his friend "Film me playing basketball." Maybe he didn't say "This video becomes my property, right?" Maybe he should have. The chance that his friend will be livid feel his uploader friend broke the law and such? Pretty darn small. Anna Frodesiak ( talk) 00:08, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

MezzoMezzo tends to always erase my edits on Ahmed Raza Khan on English wikipedia. He coomments that i am trying to push my POV but instead his POV which he is enforcing. I am writing for years on Ahmed Raza Khan in text. Despite this I am in direct contact with the family members of Ahmed Raza Khan. I recently shared my edits with him concern it's authenticity which I was assured. Also I have various books written by different authors on biography of Ahmed Raza Khan. Secondly I noticed MezzoMezzo doesn't have knowledge regarding Sufism and Ahmed Raza Khan was a Sufi. Actually Islam is currently divided mainly into the Sufi and the orthodox sect. It may be that the user belong to the other group therefore he tries to edit it on POV and it may be merely his illiteracy on the topic. In both the cases he should leave poking in this topic. If you want I could show you my large collection on books written on him and I also have in connection with many PhD candidate in thesis on Ahmed Raza Khan. After so much details I hope I was able to give you my concern over this. In such type of articles the users with more information about the topic only should be granted access to edit it. I wish if for some time the topic should be sealed for MezzoMezzo and when I am completely done with all my edits you take responsibility of checking it's authenticity and POV pushing. Hi Anna,
I hope this message finds you doing well. I am sending you this today to request the unblocking of my user BenPhotos, which you blocked during August 2016. During that time of me editing pages for laughs, I was unaware of the possibility of being blocked (apparently my email wasn't ever set up and I never saw the notifications of a possible ban until it was way too late, I have added it to my signature so you can contact me there as well). I am in college now and still wish to contribute photos of pro athletes in the manner I was before the ban. I deeply regret my childish edits and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it might've caused you. It won't ever happen again. I have learned from my mistakes and I just want to be able to share my photos in the public domain on a platform as widely used and spectacular as Wikipedia.
I hope you can please accept my apology and remove the ban so I can add value once again.
Thank you, Ben (BenPhotos)

Dear Anna,
The problem I have is the following. The reference list of the Peat article is/was a cite error, on reference [8]. One version of the reference contained "Cambridge, UK. 497p etc.", the second one was missing the "UK". I added the "UK", applied the mutation, both references now look the same, when you put the cursor on the 2 [8]'s in the text, in the read mode. In the edit mode the reference list looks as it should be. But in the read mode the big red Cite Error in the reference list is stil there. And what is even more strange, if I look at the history of my change, it states: "UK, Cambridge", wrong order! (I'm not that stupid :-)).
What did I do wrong?
Thanks! Anne Jelle (I'm male, in the Frisian language Anne is a male's name, Anna the female equivalent)

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. For a moment I thought you were talking about something else, but if you're not going there, then neither am I. Anyway, I appreciate the advice (this time), but I wish it were a little more evenly dispensed. There is another editor's behavior here that, at last check, was still disrupting that page with snarky, baiting, off-topic jabs after I had clearly left. Sometimes the actions (and inactions) of some of the admins here, while perhaps meaning to curb disruptive behavior, only seems to enable it. I know you're watching, just... try to broaden your field of view somewhat. Have a nice evening. - theWOLFchild 00:19, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Anna! I have a couple questions regarding trivial information and disruptive editing. Just a bit of a background:
I have updated many pages over the last ten years with sources from radio industry website RadioInsight and its sister site Format Change Archive, which has airchecks of when radio stations change formats. Recently, however, whenever I've added some of these to different pages, user Vipersnake151 has quickly deleted them, claiming that they're not credible because he believes "they're blogs" and have "useless random trivia". While they appear to be user-generated content (which Wiki has rules regarding that), they do follow Wiki's guidelines on exceptions, particularly, "Self-published material may sometimes be acceptable when its author is an established expert whose work in the relevant field has been published by reliable third-party publications". The site's creators, Lance Venta, is a well-respected and knowledgeable person in the industry, and has worked in the media for decades; when he uses company press releases in his posts, they are cited and quoted word-for-word from their respective company. I have talked with user NeutralHomer about this last year, regarding a format change at CKQB-FM. Viper would delete the sites and also first/last songs that would be displayed in an aircheck, and would also claim that airchecks are considered copyright violations, which almost resulted in an edit war. In fact, here is his original conversation with me on my talk page:
"Unless the source absolutely notes something significant about the first/last song played in a format (i.e. a song by a local artist? And in some flips, how the station flipped also ends up being what gets talked about. See the WCBS-FM Don't Stop Belevin'/Sopranos/Jack FM thing), or it can be implied (the fact that CKOB's last song before switching to a format branded as Jump, was Jump, was pretty clever, but I think the Animals part is a little unnecessary.)
I also do not think that FormatChange site is a reliable source: it's practically a blog, plus there's an WP:COPYVIOEL issue with it too. ViperSnake151 Talk 04:34, 29 August 2016 (UTC)"
I did not respond to him, and I instead visited with semi-retired member NeutralHomer, and he would respond with this on Viper's talk page (dated 30 August 2016):
"Your revisions to the CKQB-FM page (and talk page posts) have been called to my attention, specifically this edit and this edit. Neither of these edits are "trivia" nor are they "original research". You also state here that you believe that FormatChange.com is a "practically a blog". What you believe to be a blog isn't necessary what the community believes to be one. FormatChange.com and it's sister sites Fybush.com and RadioInsight.com are highly reliable sources and are used on hundreds of pages. If you believe something to be unreliable, an edit war isn't the answer. Talking it out on the talk page is. You stated that FormatChange.com has a WP:COPYVIOEL issue. This is just silly. An aircheck is was recording of radio broadcast taken from an actual radio, not a webstream. An over-the-air radio broadcast can not be copyrighted. If there is a program, such as a newscast (CBS, Fox, etc.) or a sports broadcast (NFL, MLB, NCAA, etc.), then that can be copyrighted. But an aircheck of the launch of a new station or new format is not copyrightable. If you are in doubt when it comes to this, ask at WP:WPRS. We'll be glad to set you straight regarding anything radio and copyrights. When it comes to the CKQB-FM page, User:Alex jirgens's edits are properly sourced and I can see no issues with them. I advise you to re-read WP:OWN because I believe that's what you are doing here. I also advise you to ask before claiming certain sites are "blogs" or "original research" or even copyright violations. You are wrong on each of these. Slow down, take your time, don't edit war and read up on the rules. If you continue down the path you are on, you are likely to be on the business end of a block. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 04:17 on August 30, 2016 (UTC)"
Recently, on the KMPS-FM page (as well as others that have recently changed formats), ViperSnake151 has been at it again, deleting information like the last song on KMPS/first song on The Sound, and it is to the point where I believe he is doing disruptive editing (as to why, I'm not quite sure, though it could be because he has been called out on this before and he may be doing it to get back at me). He made note in a recent change that "there needs to be a consensus" regarding "trivial information" regarding first/last songs on a station.
Regarding trivial information, my reasoning behind this is that KMPS aired a country music format for 42 years (39 on FM, 3 on AM) in the Seattle market, and to see a station up and change formats suddenly is worth noting the last song under a heritage station. Also, the first song ("Hello" by Lionel Richie) is worth noting because it is the first song under a new format (and the title is relatable), and Lionel Richie is a core artist of said format.
Also, the general consensus of users who do research of a station's information are generally curious as to what was the first/last song on a station, and enhances the information. (While I may be biased in that I work in radio, it is generally understood and accepted to list them because some users do get attached to stations, some of which may have had an impact on their lives.)
To summarize, what do you make regarding of this issue?
(I do apologize if me describing all of this sounds a bit wordy. It's frustrating when you spend time editing an article, making sure information is properly sourced (and to get as many sources as possible), and then to have it all deleted. I don't want to ask for vandalizing protections, but I feel that something has to be done. I'm trying to follow the rules as closely as possible. I'm also trying to get several Wiki users (and an admin) involved in this as well to get general thoughts.)
Thanks, ( Alex jirgens ( talk) 02:10, 11 December 2017 (UTC))

I am still learning how to navigate this site. Hope I'm sending this to the right place.
The other person has been involved in this discussion for a long time on other sites and groups dedicated to the Arabian Horse. Not just by myself, but other very knowledgeable people have tried to discuss this matter with him. It does not good. He is too rigid.
Anyway, I added some resources to the talk section you sent a link for. I hope you will go over them, and then allow me to add them, under a separate heading, to Skowronek's wiki. ArabHorseResearch ( talk) 07:01, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
I don't speak with him outside of Wikipedia anymore. No one does. How can I add references when the page is locked? You asked me to provide good references. I did. This man did not create the original entry for Skowronek, not is an authority qualified to make the assumptions he's making. Breed authoroties have already confirmed the horse's purity. This man chooses not to accept it, and it is unfair to allow him the only one to access Skowronek's entry. I provided the sources, I did what I was supposed to. I am not doing anything that should be censored. ArabHorseResearch ( talk) 13:24, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

Also, I run several historical research groups about the Arabian horse. I can discuss Skowronek there, you cannot rearrange me from doing that. At least the truth will be known there. As far as engaging this man you are defending, I have nothing to do with him. Please let me know how I can delete my account. I do not want to be a part of this website. Hi Anna Frodesiak, the Jack LaLanne picture used for clean shaven is a good example but with it being black and white, and with so many of the other pictures being black and white, I wanted to change it since there should be a lot of suitable images from Wikimedia (though most aren't in the Clean-shaven faces category). I replaced it with this image of New Zealand actor Cliff Curtis:
It got reverted but I decided not to add it back because you can see a shadow over his top lip. Could you find a colour image replacement please, maybe a more diverse one (I tried for Māori). Please let me know, cheers. Theo ( contribs) 16:52, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

Hello =) I noticed you had made some edits in the field of lighthouses on Wikipedia so I just wanted to get your input. I am thinking about depopulating this category in favor of a list of notable museums or an article about lighthouse museums. My reasoning is that so many current lighthouses contain a visitor center or small museum which is run by foundations or by the coast guard. Some stand out examples to consider might be defunct lighthouses that have since been turned into museums or the like. I want to say I tried looking up the creator of this category but they haven't been active. I thank you for any input you might have on the matter, I would ask over at Wikiproject Lighthouses but it also seems inactive. - Knowledgekid87 ( talk) 04:47, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

There is an editor who seems to be using various IPs registered to Softbank ( Special:Contributions/126.161.128.0/18) that has now passed the point where where we can assume good faith.

Hi Anna Frodesiak, Thanks for your clarifications. With reference to [WP:GNG], i am still not clear on the type of source you are looking for, which describes the details of subject. Can you please give me an example or reference, so that i can search in that sense and give relevant information. I believe that the sources given so far are passing the general guidelines under [WP:GNG].

Hi. I've been looking for additional sources regarding Bicentennial Lighthouse and I couldn't find it on any of the reliable sources for lights (like AHRLS, NGA, rowlett). Looking where it is located, I'm not really surprised, it's in the center of Argentina. Hi Anna,
I hope this message finds you doing well.

Hello, Anna Frodesiak. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Thank you for reverting back the article to its original without the useless cookbook ref. One of the reasons for me to use the Indian newspaper ref was due to recent nationalistic edits by both Indian people, as well as Pakistani people. I am quite neutral in this whole dispute. - Takeaway ( talk) 02:08, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi Anna, it was the source reference of the information I was adding to the article. 23:50, 26 January 2018 Sleepy Beauty

Thanks for the welcome note. I'm taking tiny steps whilst I figure out how it all works.

ArabHorseResearch ( talk) 13:24, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
please read what I wrote. He began the debate months ago on another website and was very nasty aboit it. I have provided offline references. Honestly, I think you are purposely making this difficult for me. I will not be using this site anymore. ArabHorseResearch ( talk) 13:38, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
Truth is not important, only sources, and I gave them, as you asked. ArabHorseResearch ( talk) 13:42, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
OK. I can do that. Thank you. ArabHorseResearch ( talk) 04:09, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
Hi Anna, this all blew up so fast that none of us at WPEQ realized there was a drama happening at the Skowronek article over a WP:FRINGE theory on a topic that is of interest to Arabian pedigree aficionados. I reverted the entire article to the status quo ante and the people who have good content can discuss what to add back in. Both Ealdgyth and I have a longstanding expertise in this subject area and we understand the debate that is going on there. We appreciate your continued monitoring as a neutral third party and thank you for your help. Montanabw (talk) 18:43, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
I already reported the original Gobb and the name change to Goebb at WP:UAA. Shearonink ( talk) 01:15, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
I am not sure why my content was taken off for reasons like copy pasting.
It was written based on recent news and updates the company had undergone recently using public websites and news sites.

It seems that you are reverting on Roti without realizing that former version said India or Indian Subcontinent and per WP:BRD it had to stay until there is consensus for new wording. But so far you have been reverting origins. You can't edit the article that often when you are acting as an admin, because it rather appears like you just helped takeaway evade 3RR. — MapSGV ( talk) 00:45, 20 February 2018 (UTC)

Good night. This user insists on promoting edit wars only because he is uncomfortable with a phrase based on relevant sources. He ignores both the suggestions on his talk page and the answers to the discussion in articles talk page he opened on the matter.
Hi,
In the reference part, the two last links ^3 and ^4 return 404. Can you update the link? Else I would rather delete them :(

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hainan Tropical Ocean University, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wuzhishan ( check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot ( talk) 09:18, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
Hello, Anna Frodesiak. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, " Sandbox1".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia
mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}
, {{db-draft}}
, or {{db-g13}}
code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Cabayi ( talk) 13:29, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi Anna. I see you helped protect this article from vandalism about a month ago. Unfortunately, the vandal has come back after protection was removed. I cleaned up the mess at the moment (rather inelegantly, I'm not much of a vandal fighter...) but it does seem someone has a bee in their bonnet about this particular rather niche topic. Anyway, leaving to your discretion whether or not further admin action is warranted. Martinp ( talk) 13:31, 7 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi Anna, I saw you recently peeked into Talk:Toronto van attack and I was hoping to ask your advice on something. There is an editor who seems to be using various IPs registered to Softbank ( Special:Contributions/126.161.128.0/18) that has now passed the point where where we can assume good faith. They seem to be repeatedly trying to push an agenda of the perpetrator being Armenian (rather than a Canadian of Armenian ancestry) and that this is related to the Van Rebellion(s). A sampling: 1, 2, 3 (adding an unsourced Armenian transliteration of the perpetrator's name), 4. A part of me has a feeling the address is a VPN or proxy but it doesn't come back as one in IPQualityScore. Is this something that would be appropriate for ANI?
