I think having someone like Rama's Arrow or Nichalp take a look may be a good idea before calling for an FAC. By the way, have you fixed your Bangla script problems? -- Ragib 16:52, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi Aditya, I took a very quick look at the article. Will take a more in-depth look later. Off the top of my head, here are some thoughts. First, the pictures are great; second, there are definitely enough topics there; third, the article needs narrative. The third point, for me, is the most important. For example, the educations section reads:
“ | The major academic bodies around Shahbag Intersection and in Shahbag Thana includes Dhaka University, Dhaka Medical College, BUET, Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy, BSMMU [1], Art College, Institute of Management, IBA, Institute of Modern languages, Udayan School, University Laboratory School, and Engineering University School. | ” |
There is nothing in the text above that grabs an average reader (who likely won't know anything about Dhaka, let alone the Shahbag neighborhood). The article has to make the transition from lists to narrative. One way to do this would be to temporarily replace a name, for example, "Dhaka University," by text that says something interesting about the name. For example, "Since the early 19th century, the Shahbag intersection, has been the hub of intellectual life in the city. Today, it home to a technology park ..." Obviously I'm making this up, but you get the idea. Fowler&fowler «Talk» 03:58, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
The article needs a lot of work. =Shopping= is too touristy and needs to go. The article needs some more content. And I saw a glaring error on the page. The latitude is shown as 30 °N and as far as my knowledge of Bangladesh goes, that's too high! =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:52, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Can you structure the article roughly according to Waterfall Gully, South Australia. Subsections and galleried should be eliminated. For the coordinates, try using google earth. =Nichalp «Talk»= 05:07, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
Extremely sorry for the delay in replying. I am not really the right person to improve an article such as Shahbag. However, I have given it a look. The lead-in is not impressive. Earlier also I had noted that some photographs of great political events at Ramna would greatly enhance the value of the article. I have a feeling that it should go through FA as it is. Regrds. -- P.K.Niyogi 05:42, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi Aditya - I'm sorry for not having replied on this for a while. I've taken the liberty to reorganize the article and pictures and I will proceed to copyedit the text. I'm optimistic that you can go for a FAC in 1-2 days. Rama's arrow 21:56, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Hello there! I've left several comments on Talk:Shahbag. Hope this is helpful! Best, MarkBuckles (talk) 00:17, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Looks, better. I'd prefer you open a peer review so that I can log in my comments there. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:20, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi Aditya - for the "References" section, you need to add more details (date of publication, publisher, isbn/asin) - if this is just a "Further reading" type section (as there aren't any book citations), I suggest you may want to remove it all together. I'll report on the article a little later, when I've finished copyediting it. For Education in Bangladesh, I suggest you start by writing fresh lead paragraphs, which will act as an outline/format to guide you in writing the other parts of the article. Also, I suggest you create 1-2 templates listing the notable schools/colleges/universities of Bangladesh - something like Indian Institute Of Technology. Cheers, Rama's arrow 17:37, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes, the "Festivals" subsection is unnecessary, given that festivals are linked to religion and cultural life itself. The "Culture" section itself is meant to be broad enough to include everything - I would say it would be logical to have a separate "Festivals" section if the article was about the culture of Shahbag, or demographics of Shahbag.
There were a bunch of people mentioned in the article - now if they were notable enough to mention, the readers need to know who they were. Notable Bangladeshi institutions require separate articles - those that are not notable, why mention them in the first place? If worth mentioning, more data is needed on the entity either within the article - but to keep the article concise, fork articles are necessary. If you term something as the "Christian New Year," you should link it to the relevant page so that no reader is confused by the sudden use of "Christian" for what is quite secular - also, as you talk about the reorganized B'deshi calendar, again, the reader needs to have more data on what ur talking about. You can create an article on Boli Khela, the Bengali form of wrestling - Pehlwani is not merely the Punjabi name for wrestling. You can obviously link Basanta Utsav directly to the Basant article.
I just wanted to know if all those references were relevant - there were many titles that didn't seem to be more than a recommended "further reading" list. No, you do not need to add citations from each source and you can reinsert the refs I removed. Try to add as much information as possible about each book's publication details. It is OK if you can't get isbn, although I think most books have some form of an ID. One more thing - you use the cite news, which is good. Please convert the book citations to cite book and weblink citations to cite web.
Except for the issue adding information on the reference books and about half of the red links, most of these points are not critical and entirely up to your judgment. Check with Ragib or Dwaipayan about these points. Once you deal with these points one way or another, my opinion is that this article is ready for FAC. Rama's arrow 20:45, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Cheers, Rama's arrow 20:45, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, I am not sure if it is ready for FAC. My doubt is whether it is comprehensive. Do you think all aspects have been covered? If you think so, just go for the FAC. Because it is only in the FAC that the article will be reviewed properly and will get further suggestions. Go for it, even if it fails, there will be constructive suggestions. Regards.-- Dwaipayan ( talk) 05:03, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I've been quite busy these days ... so my visits to wikipedia has been limited to minor edits, rvv etc. I will look into the Shahbag page, and possibly will add some stuff too. You are doing a good work ... I believe the Shahbag article will be ready for FAC within a day or two. Thanks. -- Ragib 06:23, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, Aditya, I got caught up in other stuff. I will take a look at the article later today. Thanks. Fowler&fowler «Talk» 17:36, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I was wondering how you decided to ask me to help peer review the article? Am I on some list somewhere that I should know about? Some user category? You only needed to ask once, though, so I removed the doubled request. Please let me know, thanks. For your information, I've never tried peer reviewing an article, and am not too interested in it, especially an article that I know absolutely nothing about. Also, I'm not very amenable to requests that seem totally random and impersonal (they seem like spam). Thanks, and have a nice day! -- Storkk 09:02, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Try Harlem, which is a GA. However, you can create new ground by organizing it differently, that is totally fine as long as it is cohesive. Good luck,-- ppm 18:03, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I just read the Shahbag article, from a brief overview it is up to Good articl standards. Its well written, neutral, well-cited, and has good prose. It is achievable of a FA giving a few more pictures, that's the criticism you might find. Otherwise, I agree with the assessments of the article. Great article to read, that could make it to the main page. Showmanship is the key 01:45, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Aditya Bhaia,
Sorry for my late response. I am little bit busy these days and didn’t want to provide a review like “jeno-teno”! I have gone through the whole article and found some of the parts that should be improved. Besides, this article demands some of the points to be added in order to give it a complete touch.
Other than those parts, overall article is well written. Niaz bd 05:54, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Should I nominate Shahbag for FAC? You might ask Nichalp for final comments, but I think it's ready for FAC. -- Ragib 05:26, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi - I have submitted Language movement for FAC. I request your input at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Language movement. Rama's arrow (just a sexy boy) 19:40, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Could you please lend a hand? Rama's arrow has left Wikipedia over the RFARB, and now the article and the FAC is kind of orphaned. If you have some time, can you please make some of the copyedits you suggested in the FAC page? Thanks. -- Ragib 07:10, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Ragib bhai is right about the situation. Please help with the copyediting and ask me if you want something. Anything you want, just ask me. Tarif from Bangladesh 07:41, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
You have asked for some scholary arguments. Here's what I've found:
source:Bodruddin Umar's Purbo-Banglar Bhasha Andolon O Totkalin Rajniti.
source:The Daily Azad, July 29, 1947
Source:Bashir Al Helal's book, pp.192
source:source:Bodruddin Umar's Purbo-Banglar Bhasha Andolon O Totkalin Rajniti. pp.30-32
Source:Bashir Al Helal's book, pp.201-207
if necessary please include this in the main article. Thanks--- Tarif from Bangladesh 08:28, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
I saw you erased a few really annoying comments of Jinnah from the article. I think it's not reflecting his and Muslim League's real position about the language crisis. Please don't take my concern otherwise. I'm just asking. You are far more experienced and I'm just a newbie. Anyway keep it up and good luck. Tarif from Bangladesh 08:50, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
I have created a template (in the same form as BD Liberation War template). Please expand the template Template:Language_Movement, and add it to the bottom of the article. -- Ragib 08:56, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
I have posted some information(on FAC page) about Ohiullah and Salauddin along with citations. Please Have a look at it if you want. And as you may know that I basically edit from cellphone, so sometimes it becomes more difficult to keep track of all the pages. So if you want me to do anything, please post it to my talk page. Thanks and i'll try to work on Tarkabagish. Tarif from Bangladesh 19:51, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Please do not add chart/list form in the legacy, or, for that matter, anywhere else in the article. Please write in prose form. If needed, create another article named "Cultural influence of Language movement", or something like that, and add the list there. Can see Artistic depictions of the partition of India.-- Dwaipayan ( talk) 20:45, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
I also thought the expansion may seem to be rather un-referenced. That's why specifically asked in the edit summary to have a look: "cultural depictions expanded; please see"! The film is ok, IMO. But really no idea about the novels and poems (though I remember to have read Shamsur Rahaman's poems). So what do you suggest? Revert to the state where no specific example is given?-- Dwaipayan ( talk) 17:41, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello, I couldn't help but notice your message on Editor at Large's talk page, because it was just above mine. I'm willing to take a look at the article and see what I can do. I can't promise anything, because I'm a busy person, but I will see what I can do in terms of improving the prose of the article. -- Kyok o 21:09, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello... I have popped in on the article to see if I could get some copyediting done, but every time I do there's an inuse tag on it so I left it alone. My edits tend to change a lot of minor details and when you get an edit conflict it's very hard to merge the two, so I often end up just starting over (which is a waste of time). You seem to have a nice team of copyeditors there, if I happen to be around when it's quieted down I'll see what I can do :) -- Editor at Large • talk 00:54, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
I finished the copyedit on Language movement. I'm not 100% confident that I didn't Americanize some of the British English in the article, so I'm going to have someone else proofread it during the next day or so. But considering the situation, I have spent almost five hours reading and re-reading the article looking for any errors, inconsistancies, or just WP:MOS changes. I'm confident in the changes that have been made, but I don't want you to hesitate to contact me if you have any feedback.
I wish you the best of luck on your FA nomination, good luck. Trusilver 03:54, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Can you strike out your Oppose? You have expressed support at the bottom, and stricken out the text under the "oppose", but the oppose in bold letters is still sticking out. Tony1 has removed his oppose, so now I think we are almost close to FA status. --

Sorry, I can not remember any exact reference about what state language means. I have asked to Ragib bhai about this for help. Anyway I gave references to all the novels, poems and stage plays which are mentioned in the article. Anymore thing to do? Call me. Cheers Tarif from Bangladesh 12:02, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Arman talked about it. I think the criticism section could still use some re-write. What is the context of the statement "The participation of Bengali Hindus and the Hindu foundations of Bengali culture provoked considerable opposition in West Pakistan. Several Bengali politicians such as Maulana Bhashani, Golam Azam, Motiur Rahman Nizami and Shah Azizur Rahman were alienated from the Awami League and subsequent Bengali nationalist agitations"? Why were they alienated and how is that related to the Language Movement? Also there seems to be sevaral different points on criticism - it is very difficult to separate one from the other. I am looking to it. Can you help? Tarif from Bangladesh 11:05, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't really know, do I really do those things you said I do? Well, if I do, then it's just because I had great friends throughout my life. Great friends like you. Out of nowhere, they add priceless moments to my life, without being aware of. I wish I could let them know how much they mean to me. I wish I could speak those things I could only feel! So I won't say thanks, I won't express gratitude, because I can not express what I feel... -- Tarif from Bangladesh 19:23, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, to be honest, I have started to become a little restless about getting Language movement into an FA. That's probably because I don't have enough experience about FAC. Why is it taking so long? Considering the fact that almost all of the concerns are solved. Hasnot it met criteria 1a yet? Is there anything more specific is needed? I have no idea. You have done a great job with Shahbag (the place that I had to go a number of times for LM), that's why I'm asking you. In how many days do you think we'll get this done? (By the way, don't take the message too seriously, it's nearly half passed two and I just needed to talk to someone :) Tarif from Bangladesh 20:24, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
I am going through those tips you have provided. I can give it a try. We will also have to motivate some more experienced copyeditors as well. -- Tarif from Bangladesh 17:51, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Hello Aditya, I had placed the inuse template on Language Movement because I wanted to change the date format in the wikilinked dates from 21 February to 21 February. This way, individual users can set their own preference for DD/MM or MM/DD format. I was unsure whether or not to change dates in the references, so I chose not to until I hear from other people. I was trying to make the changes in the article text but I got an edit conflict with you. I don't want to simply undo your changes, so when you can, would you please consider making the date changes that I proposed? Thanks. -- Kyok o 14:00, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
There is again a proposal for chang in the title of Language Movement to "Bangladesh Language Movement" or "Language Movement of Bangladesh". Please comment in the talk page of the article. Regards.-- Dwaipayan ( talk) 04:06, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Hello, I looked at the sentence you pointed out in Bengali Language Movement, and it doesn't make sense to me. My understanding is that prisoners who don't post bail are kept in prison, not freed. Perhaps there is something missing in the sentence about public outcry or political pressure or something. -- Kyok o 21:26, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Also, just a few heads up before you get to your first FA. The usage of the word here borders on self-referencing, which should be avoided. Per the manual of style, numbers less than 10 should be spelled out (four, not 4), and numbers 10 and larger should be connected with the subsequent word with a non-breaking space (10 mills, not 10 mills - check this in the edit window). Good luck with the article! --♬♩ Hurricanehink ( talk) 02:58, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi there Aditya, I hope you are well! I've just completed a very brief look over at the article and have to say I think it is looking very very good! You are doing excellent work. I think the best thing for now would be to have another copyeditor go back over the article (besides me) and "proofread" the article for clarity, etc. Two reasons: 1. More eyes are always better than less. Even though I have very strict personal editing styles, they are just styles and others' may see the article in new light. Simply put, another editor with copyediting experience may be able to see things that I won't or can't. It's like reading your own writing - you just can't see what others' can. I learnt that as a student (eons ago), a writer, a teacher... I would recommend bringing it back to the WP:LOCE project for proofreading. If you need any assistance in doing this, let me know on my talkpage! My second reason? I'm way too busy (here and in real life) to do the article the justice it deserves. Thanks - happy editing, Keeper | 76 20:04, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Got your message, Aditya. Wow, do you not ever sleep? FAC already??? Good for you! I wish you the best with it. To list an article for copyediting, simply go to the requests page for the league. Before you list it, make sure it meets the request criteria, which BTW, I think this does. I would wait until it's a FAC "officially" so you can use the "FAC" in the template to get proper attention. I'll be watching for it over there. Note, though, that I won't be copyediting it myself. After reading that article a bazillion times, I don't think I could objectively copyedit anything else (like proofreading your own writing-nearly impossible to catch things that others will see easily). Good luck! Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 15:34, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Aditya! Another user has removed the tag, and without checking the reliability of the sources I've looked through the refs section and made a few consistency changes as well as fixing some formatting errors. It doesn't look too bad to me now, but I may have missed the odd slip-up, and might have misinterpreted first/last names and initials, so please give it a once-over to see if I've messed up anywhere! :-) -- Red Sunset 22:42, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

I have strong doubt about Southern University, Bangladesh. If it is located in CTG, we have to remove it from Dhaka. IIUC also has a Dhaka Campus but that does not mean a new university. Similarly IUB has a campus in CTG and AUST has a campus in Rajshahi but those are not university rather just a campus. I observed that an anonymous user is trying again and again to enter this name in CTG section of the list. Well, I will have a look at those issues tomorrow and let you know in detail. I've had a quick glance and off hand it looks like it needs a good deal of work to become a GA. Some of the more controversial statements will need referencing in places, and some of the wording is clumsy in places and doesn't flow -hence it needs a thorough copy edit. Avoid the phrase if your only sources are random articles from the cinema section of regional papers, please. The phrase means something specific with sociological connotations, and in other film articles is placed only with care. Remember that some Indian papers tend to use phrases without that much care; for example, I can google pretty much every major female Bollywood star and discover dozens of references calling them a sex symbol. That basically renders it meaningless and unencyclopaedic based on that quality ref.

I would suggest either a block, or a semi-protection for the article. The only serious contributors to the article recently seemed to have been registered users. I really don't think this belongs here; for one thing it was inserted, IIRC, by banned sockpuppeteer User:Harvey Carter whose attitude to reliable sources was always suspect. Looking at the cited sources, the first cannot be regarded as a third-party source, and the second looks like a tabloid-writer's hatchet-job. Per WP:REDFLAG, I've deleted this section pending proper sourcing, which I will look into. Although it's not a WP:BLP issue, we still have a responsibility to report relevant and reliably-sourced material. -- Rodhull andemu 19:21, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
I took a close look at the article and made several minor copy edits. The text seems to flow well enough, although there are many run-on sentences. This is due to the small 'edit war' going on, with editors trying to cram a lot of information into a single 'referenced' sentence. I untangled some of those. Let me know if you need further help with the article. Meclee ( talk) 19:43, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
I'm not going to contradict history, but it just wouldn't make sense if he married her and she went and had sex with someone else. It could be a possibility, but
this book says otherwise. It makes their first marriage very clear, and I indeed cited it when I added in the new info:
"Paul and Jayne were married on January 28, 1950 in Fort Worth, Texas. ... In view of their January marriage, the wedding was arranged for May 10, 1950."

You asked for help with the tables in the article Works of Jayne Mansfield. I'm afraid I don't have any great ideas beyond simply suggesting that you look through similar tables found through Category:Filmographies and see how the best looking tables do things. (Of course, the tables will look different on different browsers, with different font sizes, different screen/window sizes, etc. For me, your tables didn't seem much different than the ones I saw in a few arbitrarily selected articles from that category — well, maybe apart from the number of columns of information being squeezed into them, as you mentioned. [g]) If there are only a few "notes" in a table, you might try replacing that column with footnotes via the templates note and ref. Whatever you do, don't try fancy stuff like "colspan" or "rowspan", since AFAIK that can mess up sorting on "sortable" tables. I'm sure you can find better help with this sort of thing, if it's still needed, when you put it up for FLC. - dcljr ( talk) 10:28, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
I edited the article a bit again. You're right, some parts are too ambiguous. You may want to look at Template:Cite book, which gives a better description of how to cite books. They are not cited with a weblink they are usually cited then added to the notes section. But citing Book Name (Page 20) in the middle of a sentence is wrong. And you can't violate 3RR if you are adding and citing material. 1. Please stop adding empty sections to an article. The "Further Versions" section which says nothing more than "There are other versions that are necessarily not regarded as thongs" is completely pointless. You've added it twice now.
2. A dance belt is specifically a type of men's dancewear. That is why that section was under the "Men's Thongs" heading. You have twice now moved it below another section specifically addressing a style of WOMEN'S thongs.
3. Do not remove an image simply because you don't like it. The image "mensthong.jpg" clearly illustrates the vertical seam often found in thongs specifically cut for men. It is completely relevant to the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.147.57.213 ( talk) 20:04, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
You restored all the irrelevant material about "Other whale tails", which is disappointing to see. Wikipedia articles are about single topics (in this case a type of visible underwear), not topics that happen to share a name. That is not an article on the phrase "whale tail". Surely you understand this?
I merged the material on the spoiler to Spoiler (automotive)#Whale tail, and added entries to wiktionary:whale tail and wiktionary:whale's tail (where they could be supported). I've restored the material about the car spoiler to the Spoiler (automotive) article - please don't revert. Removing it from that article and adding it back to an article on visible underwear was a poor editing decision, because the content is about spoilers, not visible underwear. The cobbled together section remaining on various obscure uses of the term "whale tail" that uses some fairly unreliable sources definitely detracts from this article, and I don't see why you're defending its inclusion.

Hope you are well. Been a while since I did any real stuff here on WP due to other commitments but noticed that Biman Bangladesh Airlines is scheduled for the mainpage on Sunday, 28th September. It's been a while since it became FA and there have been major changes to the organisation since then. I'll try and spare some time to brush it up a bit.

You may want to look at Template:Cite book, which gives a better description of how to cite books. They are not cited with a weblink they are usually cited then added to the notes section. But citing Book Name (Page 20) in the middle of a sentence is wrong. And you can't violate 3RR if you are adding and citing material. Dear Aditya Kabir, please explain your revert of my edit on the Bikini article. My goal was to copyedit the section to reduce the detail not directly linked with Bikini. It contains a lot of detail about the mosaics in general. Unless there is a link between fact that the mosaics are a world heritage site and that they depict bikinis, there is no benefit mentioning it in this article. You know that I am from Dallas, right? Like I said, I admire the work you did on the Bikini article, and I will work on it as I have time. Have a great day, and I will talk to you soon. Jarhed ( talk) 02:21, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Like I said, I will help as I can. Unfortunately, everytime I start doing research, I get distracted. :) Jarhed ( talk) 18:08, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
I might be able to lend a hand, though it's not the most interesting article to me just as a matter of personal taste so I don't want to invest tons of time. What specifically do you want help with? Calliopejen1 ( talk) 14:11, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
