I expanded Nebuchadnezzar (Blake) for you, so you can put it up for a DYK. I can add more if necessary. Blake's biography is on my list, after Byron, Keats, Wordsworth, Fielding, Smart, Richardson, Sterne and Burney, of course. Ottava Rima ( talk) 03:26, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
I have some more information on The Ghost of a Flea than what I added. However, I wanted to expand some on the one quote that you put in, and put some more background on Blake's vision. I only put a tiny bit, but I thought that was most important before I take a little break. Ottava Rima ( talk) 21:26, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
The Jones book is called The 'Lucy Poems' , which suggests that they are together Lucy Poems, if we want to standardize it. I don't know about the article. We could find out after the DYK goes through, put a message on the talk page suggesting a move to either Lucy Poems or The Lucy Poems, with an equal move for Matthew? Then when people come, they can weigh in. Ottava Rima ( talk) 22:33, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

(copying over) The block was an honest mistake, the unblock note was a pity, and my over reaction was a bigger pity. I have a bad temper, and I flew at you, and yes I did misjudge the timeline. And I apoligise. If you accept this as sincear, I would hope we can let this behind us with no hard feelings and move on. Wikipedia is supposed to be fun, a hobby, but its easy to get mired, burned out and too involvd in detail that at the end of the day just doesn't matter. We both have the best interests of the project at heart, and I realise our squabbling does nothing at all towards that aim. And yes, no I cant spell. Ceoil sláinte 22:44, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

.. thanks for the kind words. If you want to, you can nom it. It really needs an Africa section, though. I think it will not pass without one. There's already more than a little material on the article's Talk to start one...
Plus other folks need to be consulted.. johnbod certainly! and madman...
This is one case in which I would appreciate a co-nom nod.... The prob with this nom is that it certainly needs at least two co-noms (me and john) and maybe three (madman). It'll be a crowd up there... If you wanna nom it, then you have the privilege of working out the details. ;-)

I wasn't "accusing" anyone of anything. Why are you taking this personally? The article was completely unsourced and it read like original research. Those tags aren't "pointless." They let other editors know what work needs to be done and more importantly, they let readers know that an article is not up to standard. All I saw was a deletion of quite useful tags with a flippant edit summary. So I reverted it. Now you've added some sources. The system works. Here Henry Rollins (who is highly regarded in Oz), who was a guest VJ on the show and got to program all the songs, gave a rather colourful opinion on Morrissey about 15 years ago. Well, that image is from Milton: a Poem (which would be a lot of work to expand x5), which is one of Blake's prophetic books- he wrote it as well as illustrating it. I mean Blake's illustrations to Milton's poetry, and I didn't mean which image to use for the DYK hook. My question is, should I try to cover all of that material in a single article, or narrow it down to Paradise Lost, which he illustrated most frequently. I've already begun researching on Google Books and such, and the critical precedent seems to be to treat Blake's illustrations to Milton as a single entity. [13]
By the way, my wikibreak ends on December 10th, so I'll either have to create a sockpuppet or have you create the article from what I put together. Sorry about those templates, I just can never tell if people watchlist me or not. 74.140.162.131 ( talk) 01:09, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

"New Advent", i.e. the Catholic Encyclopedia, is of course a source of mixed reliability. I wondered what you meant, precisely. I'm going to try and talk to people and see if we can get a series of Milton related items on the main page for that day. Hi Ceoil, Just a really quick FYI - you seem to have gotten here twice because of an edit conflict. Cheers, Clayoquot ( talk | contribs) 02:56, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
What you have there is one of Gericault's studies for a different painting. He had in mind doing a number of paintings based on the same account. He made drawings and studies for several pics. This one is earlier in the sequence, because there is a great crowd of figures, and there were ultimately only a few survivors. It is a "Raft of the Medusa" and it is by Gericault, but it's not the same Raft of the Medusa.
It has nothing to do with Michelangelo, so you need to have its name changed or delete it ASAP. In the picture of "The Flood" on the Sistine Chapel ceiling, there is a boat full of people, but quite different to this. Amandajm ( talk) 05:31, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't let it worry you! One cannot be expected to know everything! It would be interesting to track down the studies for the other works. I've just done a painting (not quite as large!) of one of the most famous shipwrecks off the coast of Australia, the "Dunbar". It went onto the rocks just outside Sydney Heads with 121 people onboard, of whom only one survived. I can't help thinking that the "Medusa" was a stupid name for a ship. The figurehead alone would be enough to scare the shite out of the average superstitious sailor. Ships ought to have good names like " Victory" or " Invincible". Amandajm ( talk) 15:20, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi there, you commented on Black Holes and Revelations FAC back in August. Your comment there was fairly accurate (about it being an amalgation of web sources). I've just got back to editing and have put the article up for peer review, and I was wondering if you could possibly expand on your reasoning there or else give some suggestions for improvement. Any help would be greatly appreciated. No worries if you're too busy. Thanks. THE GROOVE 02:46, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
I am terribly sorry about the C rating mishap. We are currently working to have our template changed to get the C rating back. For the mean time, I switched all C-class poetry articles to start class so they didn't show up as not having a rating at all. It really was more of a provisional act to allow us to continue assessing articles that have no class at all without running across C class articles that registered as having no rating. I can keep the C class on the article as before if you so desire. Mrathel ( talk) 19:54, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't mind its being without an image, although I admit it looks a bit naked now. Do you see my point, though, about her... ethereality and formlessness? I don't know if I'm being very clear here. I'm not inflexible on this; it may yet be possible to find the right female figure... I think avoiding faces is key here. There are a couple of Friedrichs that could work, but in each case they aren't quite right. His work captures the right sense of beauty and isolation/separation, though, I think. I had to go back and make changes that would have kept the page from making FA. Remember, we can only have images that directly deal with the page, and that the captions cannot be over a certain length. The autoformatting needs to be allowed. Plus, the Lucy poems are extremely dark and forboding. The whole basis is on the emphasis of death and his desires to have his sister die to better his own life, and the depression he feels over having these thoughts. This is literally the darkness moment of Wordsworth's life, and the Haydon painting was painted to reflect such a state of Wordsworth's being. Its the only painting that adequately represents this aspect. Ottava Rima ( talk) 05:35, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Clioe, because it's Christmas I want to tell you, Love, Actually-style, that I'm sorry for all the problems I caused in recent months. But I want you to know that reading articles like Caspar David Friedrich make me proud to edit here. I never tell my real friends to read up on hippos, or whatever, but just today I was telling some people about CDF, and told them to read the article here. I even ordered a CDF print for my office when it got to be 6 p.m. and I realized I wasn't getting laid off this week. Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks for making me proud to be a part of this community, and sorry for my antics, and have a great holiday. -- JayHenry ( talk) 06:47, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I eliminated some of the variations in the title, but I think you should move this back to "The Raft..." in line with the common English title and the original French, WP's dislike of "The" not withstanding. You might like to mention the Winslow Homer's The Gulf Drift and Watson and the Shark in the influences section if you are planning on expanding the article further (though you are busy fighting with Ottava right now by the look of it.

Here was a rather entertaining moment on Australian TV - the ABC (australia's equivalent of BBC) plays indie/alternative and some popular music from ~1130PM to about 8AM on Friday and Saturday nights. Here Henry Rollins (who is highly regarded in Oz), who was a guest VJ on the show and got to program all the songs, gave a rather colourful opinion on Morrissey about 15 years ago. I was musing on this (and having a good chuckle) and was pleasantly surprised to find it on youtube (bless its archival little soul). I did see Rollins in concert once, and it was rather fun if I may say so myself. :) Cheers, Casliber ( talk · contribs) 05:58, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I'm all good, although it's not every day that my talkpage gets locked down. I was in a bit of a funk earlier in the week -- too many hours spent trying to decipher German (for work; can't read it at all) can do that to you. I'll try to help with the legacy section -- I think there's a lot of good material that can be included; it's just a question of organising it properly, and I could use a day or so to mull it over. Maybe even scratch out an outline on paper. Thanks for all the work you've put in on this - it's really looking good. Kafka Liz ( talk) 01:57, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your intervention! I have left a lengthy explanation on Papa November's page. You possibly aren't aware that we covered a great deal of the same ground previously, a month or so ago, and that Papa N's apparently well-meaning edits removed significant material and introduced errors on that occasion as well. I am quite surprised at this person's persistence and determination to keep rejigging this particular article, obviously with very little knowledge of the subject.

If you just meant that the source should be flagged, then I agree; attribution to the old Catholic Encyclopedia should usually be explicit. (Please leave me a talk page note if there is more to it.) I'm going to try and talk to people and see if we can get a series of Milton related items on the main page for that day. "On this day" would be good, but if we could get that plus multiple DYK for December 9th, that would be best. I doubt we could rush a Milton related page through FA by December 9th.
