I've nothing against Lord Ishido, but wouldn't a screen capture of Blackthorne or Toranaga (the Shogun of the title) be more appropriate? 23skidoo 16:53, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Started working up a plot outline. Not sure how to make the link for Orson Wells function without putting an underscore in the text. (Actually, I tried to put the narration credit in the infobox, which I added to the page, but for reasons unknown it didn't take.) Also, the series' alt-title is James Clavell's Shogun and I'm wondering if we could/should get a redirect for that. And does anyone know if the cover art to the DVD set could be used here as a illo? I could scan and upload it, but haven't had the time to read through the Wiki copyright documentation. Cryptonymius 17:51, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
I dont agree that Shogun was the only US tv series to be filmed outside the US - there are dozens of US TV series that are filmed in Canada, for example and Horatio Hornblower was filmed in the Ukraine. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.40.38.38 ( talk) 13:40, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Since no one objected, and there was no point having a separate article on the theatrical re-edit of the miniseries (and such an article if expanded would simply parrot what's already here anyway), I've gone ahead and merged the articles. 23skidoo ( talk) 18:36, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Is it correct to call this a US miniseries? Surely it is US/Japan, if not Japan/US? 101.98.188.150 ( talk) 01:37, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
The article does not mention why Mariko securing the release of the hostages taken by Ishido are so vital. (This is the plan of Mariko's that started developing at the time of the earthquake, but Blackthorne only realizes after her attempted suicide).
Right before the blast that kills her, Mariko tells Blackthorne the ninja are after her not him, but doesn't explain why. This article also does not help.
The Plot section says at the end, Toranaga "discloses Mariko's secret but vital role in the grand deception of his enemies." Actually, Toranaga only said about Mariko that "Mariko, it was your karma to die gloriously and live forever." Please add to the Plot section information about the "grand deception" and Mariko's role in it.

If one wants a source on the DVD release I found http://web.archive.org/web/20031009013135/http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2003/Sep/26/en/en26a.html WhisperToMe ( talk) 17:15, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
I believe the two instances of nudity mentioned under "Sexuality and violence" occur only in the 125-minute theatrical release. I know for a fact the bathing scene only shows nudity in the theatrical cut. 70.73.90.119 ( talk) 16:13, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
The entire plot section and most of the rest of the article contain so much unsourced and uncited text the whole article comes across as original research. Needs to be tagged as such. 2601:19E:8280:3050:F876:E9C0:A5FD:9CA3 ( talk) 18:08, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
