Can editors fluent in reading Chinese determine from a Web search exactly which counties/villages in Yunnan this was filmed? The captions say "Li Village" (李家村) and "Stone Village" (石头村), but I don't know where those are or if they're real place names. And which ethnic group(s) are featured? From the Chinese-language sources it seems to be the Naxi, but English-language sources don't treat the issue at all, perhaps believing everyone in China to be ethnically "Chinese." Im surprised this movie is not so well known in the states. The Asian drama genre usually takes a backseat to martial-arts fils, howver this is a fine example of a movie that would have probably done well if released. Very powerful story and also does a good job of potraying both chinese and Japanese culture in a fine way 65.163.203.130 19:37, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Agreed, excellent article. And I want to commend the author for being one of the few that properly put Simplified Chinese BEFORE/ABOVE the Traditional Chinese when it describes a Mainland Chinese movie. Wikipedia needs more people like the author of this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.70.86.139 ( talk) 23:11, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
