The Haibutsu kishaku of the Meiji era was a catastrophic event and, together with the shinbutsu bunri, a turning point in the history of Japan and Buddhism. Like it, it is IMHO of at least mid importance, if not higher. You can't understand religion in Japan today without these two articles. urashimataro ( talk) 04:14, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
