Japanese wikipedia says the purpose is to primarily cover the smell of dead fish in the restaurant and secondarily to cleanse the palate between pieces of sushi. The current name kind of implies that gari is a variety of ginger when it is a dish made with ginger... Would there be anything wrong with changing the name to simply Gari? •≈20+π (talk to me!) 13:47, 3 June 2018 (UTC)
