A fact from Bagel Bakers Local 338 appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 23 July 2009 ( check views). The text of the entry was as follows: Did you know... that Bagel Bakers Local 338 controlled bagel making in New York City for decades, with a 1951 strike creating a "bagel famine" that resulted in sales of lox dropping up to 50% in area delis? According to Dan Thompson's obituary, he was born in Winnipeg, Canada, but his family moved to Los Angeles when he was an infant:
