Sverdlovsky District ( Russian: Свердло́вский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [4] district ( raion), one of the twenty-four in Oryol Oblast, Russia. It is located in the center of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,061.4 square kilometers (409.8 sq mi).[ citation needed] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Zmiyovka. [1] Population: 16,311 ( 2010 Census); [2] 18,070 ( 2002 Census); [6] 19,223 ( 1989 Soviet census). [7] The population of Zmiyovka accounts for 36.6% of the district's total population. [2]
