It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,024.9 square kilometers (395.7 sq mi). [2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Khomutovo. [1] Population: 10,704 ( 2010 Census); [3] 13,486 ( 2002 Census); [7] 14,672 ( 1989 Soviet census). [8] The population of Khomutovo accounts for 39.5% of the district's total population. [3]
