congressional districts. The elections coincided with
other elections to the House of Representatives, as well as
elections to the
United States Senate and various
state and
local elections. The filing deadline for candidates was February 9, 2018. The primaries were held on May 8, 2018.
Indiana's 1st Congressional District is located in the suburbs and exurbs of
Chicago, Illinois. It encompasses all of
Lake and
Porter counties and parts of
LaPorte County. Incumbent Democrat
Pete Visclosky, who had represented the district since 1985, ran for re-election. He was re-elected with 82% of the vote in 2016. The district had a
PVI of D+8.

Jackie Walorski, who had represented the district since 2013, ran for re-election. He was re-elected with 59% of the vote in 2016. The district had a
