Hi, I am editing an article, and there are literally dozens of Brazilian news media sources about a fighter, but another editing is saying that because the fighter does not meet MMA guidelines they are not notable. But I insist that the fighter meets WP:GNG guidelines which should trump arbitray mma guidelines. I go into great detail, and provide hyperlinks to google searches of Brazilian magazines Tatame and Gracie Mag as well as broadcast news sources, not to mention the US coverage he has garnered. /info/en/?search=Talk:Alexandre_Almeida#Coverage_and_notability
Am I off base in my assessment? I don't see how he could be considered not notable due to the dozens of articles around about him from legitimate news sources, and even more from popular American MMA websites. Jumbotron5000 ( talk) 19:45, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

The Wikimedia Community Brazilian Group of Education and Research launched today the Wiki Loves the Olympics, a pilot project of an international photo contest about the Olympics and Paralympic games.

Social networks:
Our focus is Brazil, but the contest is open for all the world.
We are fixing some issues during this week but the contest is already open for submissions!
We need some help to translate our templates and banners on commons and spread that project around our international community.
Comments and help are welcome! Best regards Rodrigo Padula ( talk) 16:29, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
Many participants here create a lot of content, have to evaluate whether or not a subject is notable, decide if content complies with BLP policy, and much more. Well, these are just some of the skills considered at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship.
So, please consider taking a look at and watchlisting this page:
You could be very helpful in evaluating potential candidates, and even finding out if you would be a suitable RfA candidate.
Many thanks and best wishes,

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Impeachment proposal against Michel Temer is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Impeachment proposal against Michel Temer until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

One of my personal projects is extracting public-domain images from Chronicling America's massive archive of high-resolution scans of American newspapers, and uploading them to Commons. One such image is "Scenes from Acre, 1904", which mentions a locality called "Capatra" and a body of water called "the Partacomba". I have been unable to find references to either of these anywhere online; however, the Tacoma Times (where I got this image) often had spelling mistakes. Does anyone know where either "Capatra" or "the Partacomba" actually was, or if they have other names? DS ( talk) 19:56, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
Hi, I was wondering if anybody would like to collaborate long term in trying to reach a 10,000 article improvement/creation drive for South/Latin America at Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge like we're doing for the UK at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge? Regional contests fuel the drive but it's a permanent goal now. Would Brazilian wikipedians be interested in running a similar thing and some country contests/editathons to increase output? We could do a 1000 Challenge for Brazil to start with? Comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject South America if interested.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:07, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 350 articles in just six days. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thankyou.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:22, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Greetings WikiProject Brazil/Archive 4 Members!
This is a one-time-only message to inform you about a technical proposal to revive your Popular Pages list in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:
If the above proposal gets in the Top 10 based on the votes, there is a high likelihood of this bot being restored so your project will again see monthly updates of popular pages.
Further, there are over 260 proposals in all to review and vote for, across many aspects of wikis.
Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Frans Post (1612-1680) was a Dutch painter from Haarlem belonging to the Dutch School. Between 1636-1644, he received a commission from John Maurice of Nassau, then governor of Brazil, to travel to Brazil and document its people, nature and landscape. During his time in Brazil, Post made drawings and sketches of animals, which he probably used as studies for his paintings. Thirty-four of these drawings were recently discovered in the Noord-Hollands Archief. The archive has graciously made the digitised drawings available for re-use on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia Nederland launches the Netherlands and the World Exchange Platform. The platform aims to stimulate global re-use of Dutch collections on non-European cultural heritage. In particular, it aims to stimulate collections on countries with which the Netherlands have had historical ties. These countries include Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Ghana, Suriname, South Africa, and others.
The platform also aims to foster contacts between Dutch cultural heritage institutions and Wikimedia contributors across the globe. However, participation is not limited to Wikimedia contributors. Anyone can participate, making it relevant for education and research as well.
Key properties:
The platform is easy to use. After registration, users can post offer/requests notices, depending on whether they are looking for material, or want to offer material for re-use. Statistics on re-use are also available.
The Netherlands and the World Exchange Platform is part of the program The Netherlands and the World. This program is supported by Wikimedia Nederland and aims to make available knowledge and content on non-European countries.

It would be useful to readers if these links directed them to the specific pages of interest, rather than making them search through a list. Members of WikiProject Disambiguation have been working on this and the total number is now below 20,000 for the first time. Hello, there's a proposal to delete all Wikipedia portals. Please see the discussion here. -- NaBUru38 ( talk) 14:08, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.
Portals are being redesigned.
The new design features are being applied to existing portals.
At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{ Transclude lead excerpt}}.
The discussion about this can be found here.
Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.
On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.
Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.
So far, 84 editors have joined.
If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.
If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.
Thank you. — The Transhumanist 07:27, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

Well, there's nobody by that name, of course. But if there was, his honorific would be "Mister Doe", not "Mister Filho". But there are lots of people with the suffix "Filho" at the end of their name, meaning "Junior", in the same way that other languages have other ways to indicate father and son with the same name ("the Elder", "the Younger"; "Junior", "Senior", "the 3rd", "IV", and so on). I'm assuming that after introducing someone by their full name, you would want to avoid using "Filho" to refer to them; e.g., if you're talking about Vital do Rêgo Filho, Teotonio Vilela Filho, Paulo Machado de Carvalho Filho, after naming them the first time, you don't then say later in the article, "In 1995, Filho moved to Brasilia...", which would be absurd, just like referring to Mr. Doe as "Mr. Junior".
I believe this should be called out in all articles of this type (unless "Filho" is the person's actual family name, e.g. Jardel Filho I assume is not a "Junior"), with either a hatnote similar to the Spanish-surname or Portuguese-surname templates, or in the running text. Is there already a template we can use, to indicate the presence of a suffix that is not part of the family name, to prevent problems like that? (P.S. This isn't specific to Brazil, but I had to put it somewhere. I'll link it from the Portugal project.) Mathglot ( talk) 23:45, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

Hello there. This is an invitation to join the 50,000 Destubbing Challenge Focus of the Week. £250 (c. $310) is being given away in May, June and July with £20 worth of prizes to give away every week for most articles destubbed.

Many participants here create a lot of content, have to evaluate whether or not a subject is notable, decide if content complies with BLP policy, and much more. Well, these are just some of the skills considered at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship.
So, please consider taking a look at and watchlisting this page:

One of my personal projects is extracting public-domain images from Chronicling America's massive archive of high-resolution scans of American newspapers, and uploading them to Commons. One such image is "Scenes from Acre, 1904", which mentions a locality called "Capatra" and a body of water called "the Partacomba". I have been unable to find references to either of these anywhere online; however, the Tacoma Times (where I got this image) often had spelling mistakes.

A new translation project is underway, to translate the article pt:Desdobramentos da Operação Lava Jato into English. Your assistance in the translation or feedback at the Talk page would be most welcome. See Draft:Developments in Operation Car Wash. Mathglot ( talk) 10:16, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
Hello! I have recently created a bot to remove completed infobox requests and am sending this message to WikiProject Brazil since the project currently has a backlogged infobox request category. Details about the task can be found at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/PearBOT 2, but in short it removes all infobox requests from articles with an infobox, once a week. To sign up, reply with {{ ping|Trialpears}} and tell me if any special considerations are required for the Wikiproject. For example: if only a specific infobox should be detected, such as {{ infobox journal}} for WikiProject Academic Journals; or if an irregularly named infobox such as {{ starbox begin}} should be detected. Feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Announcing a new specialized glossary of Brazilian terms, to assist editors translating articles from, or understanding sources written in Brazilian Portuguese. The glossary is limited to topics related to police, law, government, and criminal investigations. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Brazil/PLG Glossary. Thanks, Mathglot ( talk) 10:36, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Resolved The template has been updated to handle this properly.

It's about the Pará government state-owned bank, I added a number of references that I believe prove its a notability, but they havn't been reviewed by an editor yet. ( /info/en/?search=Draft:Banpar%C3%A1) - Richevans69 ( talk) 23:44, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
I have nominated Chagas disease for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. SandyGeorgia ( Talk) 20:45, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
Bom dia,
@
ArionEstar and
Hog Farm:
This article has been marked for speedy deletion. I can see an obituary for this person in
O Globo
here - which suggests notability. The obit is behind a paywall.
Could you possibly help out here?
Obrigado. Pete AU aka --

Hello there. This is an invitation to join the 50,000 Destubbing Challenge Focus of the Week. £250 (c. $310) is being given away in May, June and July with £20 worth of prizes to give away every week for most articles destubbed. Each week there is a different region of focus, including one week dedicated entirely to Brazil, though half the prize will still be rewarded for articles on any subject. There's a potential £120 to be won in total for destubbing on any subject or region of your choice. Sign up if you want to contribute at least one of the weeks or support the idea! † Encyclopædius 12:14, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

I have written a draft relating to WikiProject Brazil If someone may review it. Thank you DanceEnthusiast ( talk) 18:53, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
I recently created Robeyoncé Lima. I'm having trouble locating any kind of official biographical page maintained by the Brazilian government because I am not a Portuguese speaker. Ideally, I would include something like that in the External Links. If anyone can tell me where I might look to find something official, or can actually link me to an official page, that would be appreciated. -- Citrivescence ( talk) 16:07, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

Please can a subject expert review Ministry of National Integration? It seems to have been hijacked by a new article. One option is to create a new article called Ministry of Regional Development (Brazil) with the current text, then revert to the previous version. Certes ( talk) 12:01, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
