Does the library have WiFi? If it does I can edit on my iPad. Cloveapple ( talk) 19:30, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
Wow, missed this. We won't be able to get out word about this on the wiki, as early as for past events; should this should be rescheduled? (I'll contact HCLschlubb, and post where other Minnesota Wikipedians will notice.) Otherwise, for my part I'm interested and can make this date or almost all weekends. — innotata 18:19, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks to everyone for coming. Thanks to everybody who helped me with images (the library asked me to be there to hold hands with anyone who needed help but I got more help than I gave) and thanks for bringing those donuts. -- HCLschlubb ( talk) 20:35, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Wiki-Minnesotans! I would like to invite you to again join the Great American Wiknic this June :) Also, please put any preliminary details at Wikipedia:Wiknic#2012 Wiknic.-- Pharos ( talk) 17:41, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Wha' happened? I had it on my calendar for July 8 (although I hadn't signed up because I had to wait to see if my schedule would be clear on that day). I was looking forward to meeting some folk before going to the Wikipedia conference in DC in July. Oh well..Is anyone from here going to the DC event, or been to one previously? It would be nice to talk to someone about it before I go. I'm brand new to all of this -- haven't started doing any editing yet, but have been a fan and user for a long time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dark roast, please ( talk • contribs) 20:11, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, only three of us showed up—myself, SixWingedSeraph, and RandMC. We mostly discussed our experiences editing Wikipedia, and topics we work on. — innotata 21:29, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
Well, somehow I put the picnic on my calendar for 12-3, not 1-4, which explains why I couldn't see anyone looking like Wikipedians, nor a Wiknic sign, even though I searched the area. I left around 12:40. See you another time. Dark roast, please ( talk) 23:05, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
We'd like to invite further local participation in the Wikimedians Active in Local Regions of the United States (WALRUS) committee, our monthly IRC meetings, and the associated wikimediaus-l mailing list, to help advance real-life Wikimedian activities in the US, including Wiki Loves Monuments photography in September and Wikipedia Loves Libraries meetups in October/November.-- Pharos ( talk) 17:12, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
I'd like to encourage you good Wiki-Minnesotans to start a Minneapolis / St Paul page with Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes America#Event page wizard. Or you can do the same at the regular Minnesota meetup page if you like.-- Pharos ( talk) 01:29, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
As part of the national Wiki Loves Libraries initiative, there will be an event at Special Collections at Minneapolis Central Library. The event will include an editathon, to increase the depth of information on Minneapolis history topics by utilizing materials in the Minneapolis Collection. Wikipedians and other members of the public are welcome to come in and create Wikipedia entries on subjects/people which we have archival/manuscript collections on or to work on Minneapolis history topics/people they are personally interested in. There will be a short instruction session in the beginning of the day and a tour of Special Collections in the morning and afternoon.
There is free wifi (so participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops/devices) as well as several public computers.

Any ideas for or interest in organising a Wiki Loves Libraries event? (I've emailed the folks at Minneapolis Central who organised the editathon earlier this year, and dropped a note to Mcghiever.) — innotata 22:13, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Here's the listing on the library events page [4] in case it's of any interest. — innotata 17:48, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
We should get more non-Wikipedians than last time, thanks to publicity by the people at Special Collections, including coverage of this and February's events were in this Star Tribune article. I also have told some people who may be interested. — innotata 15:53, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
We had a good turnout, I suppose, of people new to Wikipedia, and just jumped into editing without much else (besides chatting). We worked on articles from a list based off that last time (HCLschlubb plans on posting it), and created Young-Quinlan Building, Clara Ueland, Forum Cafeteria (Minneapolis), Band Box Diner, and Northwestern National Life Building, among others. Someone from MNopedia suggested we have events at the History Center this winter—perhaps a Wikipedia Day meetup and an editathon later. — innotata 23:13, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
I've hidden it several times. I thought I had my preferences set up to not show these in the first place. Is there a box to check or a bit of code to cut/paste so I don't have to be invited to something that I have absolutely no interest in several times a day? -- Onorem ♠ Dil 19:40, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
Just to let people know, at the the recent events editors and Mhsrc and others from the Minnesota Historical Society been discussing having an editathon at the Minnesota History Center library, during the next month (possibly March 16). It might be good to start discussing an agenda; the editathon part won't be so easy to organise as the Special Collections events, since the library isn't based on topic files. Mcghiever and I are both interested in running a suggested more formal introduction to Wikipedia. — innotata 19:07, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
We at MNopedia and the Minnesota Historical Society are still very excited about having an editathon in 2013. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like March won't work after all. March is a busy time of year behind the scenes, and an editathon requires a lot of coordination with different departments. Fall 2013 is looking better. We hope you'll still be interested and available then. Mhsrc ( talk) 22:17, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
I will not be able to attend the either of these events, as I have a a coffee shop that I have to tend to during this time. However, if the group wishes to meet-up at my shop on these dates, I would be open for that. I also have free wifi. The name of the coffee shop is the Lavvu Coffee House, 813 4th Street Southeast, Minneapolis - 612-331-4136
Dinkytown talk 14:56, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
I've been thinking for a while of having more frequent meetup events, perhaps monthly. With more small events, more Wikipedians can come to some of them. I'd like to have more in-person editing events, given how enjoyable an productive the editathons at Minneapolis Central Library were like. We'll also be able to point people interested in Wikipedia to something regular they can go to.
The main problem is finding a time and convenient place to meet. If we want to have public computers available and a good space, I think that limits us to a few library locations. The people at Special Collections at Minneapolis Central who organised the past events are interested, but they are only open weekdays and first and third Saturdays. I'm not certain I can make any of these days in April or May myself. Any ideas for other locations for these events, and anyone else interested in organising them?
Generally, any thoughts or ideas? — innotata 22:52, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
Let's try this out. I suggest 1 June and 6 July, at Minneapolis Central. The Special Collections librarians expect any Saturdays they are open this summer will work, May and 3 August won't work for me. Once we pick exact dates and times (they're open 10-4:30, how about 12:30 to 2:30 + however long we want to stick around?) they can be put on the library calendar. — innotata 05:11, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
I've said we'll do the dates June 1 and July 6, 12:30-2:30 (and those interested can come early and/or stick around, Special Collections closes at 4:30 and the library at 5:00 or something). If anyone wants to look at materials in the library, or subjects in the Minneapolis Collection, it's easier if you let the librarians know in advance. I'll add proper listings of the event later. — innotata 00:30, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

As the first of what are intended to be monthly meetups, there will be two events at Hennepin County Library Special Collections this summer. These are mostly planned as opportunities for Wikipedians to discuss editing, but all are welcome! Free wifi and several public computers are available, and the Special Collections contains many valuable historical resources, including the Minneapolis Collection, consisting of files on hundreds of topics related to Minneapolis from neighborhoods to politicians. There's a huge power outage here (hence I am editing from my phonne and can't put this below), but apparently at least one of you csn still come. I will be there unless there is a hugr storm, but probably only with a letter size sign and without enough food to share. — innotata 15:12, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
How long will the Wiknic be going on? Is it really from 12:00 to 4:00 or will it be ending early? Since it seems there will only be a few people I figured you guys might cut it short... Megakacktus ( talk) 16:51, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

I'd like to encourage folks to look at the possibility of an informal Wikimedia User Group for Minnesota editors, which should make it easier to get Wikimedia Foundation grant funding for outreach events, and could even lead to an eventual nonprofit chapter like Wikimedia DC. We haven't got around to doing anything this fall, but we should have an event around Wikipedia Day, January 15. The Saturday after, January 18, should work best for me and anyone else on break. Hi, Minnesota Wikipedians! I've just moved back to Little Canada from California, and I'm wondering if there'd be any interest in holding an edit-a-thon at either the Roseville or Maplewood public library - I'm closer to Maplewood, but I'd be happy to take the extra few minutes to Roseville if that's more convenient for people. We could also chit-chat about starting a mailing list or some other form of off-wiki organization, and I'd be available (as ever) for technical questions (wearing my WMF engineer hat). I am writing to invite participants in your user group to WikiConference North America to be held in San Diego Friday to Monday 7-10 October. Here are further details:
Discussion about the conference on-wiki could happen at meta:WikiConference North America.
This year, conference organizers have been able to reserve one scholarship to attend for someone in your organization. I encourage participants in your organization to start a conversation among yourselves about who is available and interested to attend the conference as a representative of your collective interests. If you can identify someone among yourselves to accept this travel scholarship, then please tell me of your choice. The person who wishes to receive a scholarship in this scheme should still complete the scholarship application as soon as possible and before 23 August. After the form is completed and you notify me, then I will note your group's decision for that person. Thanks for your consideration. Write me with any questions.-- Pharos ( talk) 20:53, 16 August 2016 (UTC)

Pharos and I have discussed by email a meetup when we will be in Minneapolis, Sunday, May 20, afternoon/evening. Art-A-Whirl, an open studio tour in Northeast Minneapolis, is also that weekend. Colored Frames
With concise interview segments and impressionistic video collages, Colored Frames is a documentary showcasing the works of Black artists, from the Civil Rights era to today, as well as their struggle for visibility and acceptance in the mainstream art world. The film explores the conversation of art and the Black experience and seeks to eliminate years of negative stereotyping and assumptions that come with images of Blackness in America. As legendary artist Benny Andrews puts it, Black artists seek to be included on the basis of quality, or excluded “on the basis that its not acceptable,” Andrews implores, “not because it’s Black.” Directed by Lerone D. Wilson, 2007. Runtime 56 minutes. English, Closed11:30 a.m.
!Women Art Revolution
An entertaining and revelatory “secret history” of Feminist Art, !Women Art Revolution deftly illuminates this under-explored movement through more than forty years of compiled conversations, observations, archival footage and works of visionary artists, historians, curators, and critics. Starting from its roots in 1960s antiwar and civil rights protests, the film details major developments in women’s art through the 1970s and explores how the tenacity and courage of these pioneering artists resulted in what is now widely regarded as the most significant art movement of the late 20th century. With a rousing score by Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein, !W.A.R. features artists like The Guerilla Girls, Yvonne Rainer, Judy Chicago, Marina Abramovic, Yoko Ono, Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger, and countless other groundbreaking figures in an intimate portrayal of their fight to break down barriers facing women both in the art world and society at large. Directed by Lynn Hershman Leeson, 2010. Runtime 83 minutes. English.

English.
