Der Tag (Berlin), Ill. Wochenbeil. 8. 5. 1908

{{ stale}}

  • "Illustrierte Wochenbeilage". Der Tag (Berlin). location unknown. 8 May 1908.

For Ludwig Nick ( draft)

The Wochenbeilage has a portrait of the artist Ludwig Nick. Any other portrait, either photograph or drawing, would of course be welcome also.

Additionally: my work on this article has brought me valuable sources and databases, but I am still unable to confirm Nick's date and place of death. Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon says he died 8 August 1936 in Weimar, but a newspaper from the region already on 16 July 1936 says he died in Jena. Does anyone have a link to the relevant Standesamt database? (I assume the record of his death is public now.) Thanks, Eissink ( talk) 16:46, 15 October 2020 (UTC) reply

1980+ sources for a retired golfer

Hello. I'm looking for any sources from 1980+ onwards for my draft on Sharron Moran. Specifically I'm looking for two things: 1) When did she retire from the LPGA? I see sources that state she was a former pro in an 1982 and 1987 source from Newspapers.com, but I've seen sources that state she has played on a LPGA tour event during these years. Maybe she retired in the 1980s then came back? It's also possible she switched professional tours. 2) When did she start teaching golf? Like above, I see sources that suggest she was teaching golf in the 1980s. These two sources also suggest that she's still teaching as of the 2010s. Though I don't want a massive gap in her career if there are sources available during this time range. Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 ( talk) 22:52, 26 September 2020 (UTC) reply

Valereee, if you feel like sending Jordan herself an email, she likely has a copy. Her contact information is here.
Incidentally, the insertion of the TV Guide article as a source traces back to the 2010 creation (by Pantsman6001) of Central Talent Booking, which now redirects to Joanna Jordan (talent agent). Given Pantsman6001's short-lived editing history that almost entirely consisted of Central Talent Booking-related edits, it seems likely that it is someone who was connected to the agency. -- Usernameunique ( talk) 07:19, 5 January 2021 (UTC) reply

Requesting verifying for copyright free ness and uploading images to Wikimedia commons

8.1 to 8.6 numbers in bracket are image numbers of very old images, in the given chapter. My primary understanding at first sight has been these images seem very old and expected to be copyright free.

Page number and image numbers in bracket: 236(8.1), 244(8.2), 252(8.3), 254(8.4), 255(8.5), 259(8.6) For article Superstitions in Muslim societies

This time I do not need document, due to my limitations in technical and copyright understanding I need some one to assist to access, examine and then upload images to Wikimedia commons to use in the article Superstitions in Muslim societies.

(I had made the same request earlier at commons but they did not get access to the document so I am making request to this forum)

Thanks and warm regards, Bookku ( talk) 07:11, 5 November 2020 (UTC) reply

Bookku, I added a DOI to your citation above, which links to the chapter in question. It is relatively easily retrievable from there (although there is a paywall), although you said you don't need the chapter itself. The images are already online, and two are on Commons.
8.1: Better images are already on Commons here
8.2: Better image here
8.3: Better image here
8.4: Better image here (on the dropdown at the top of the image viewer, select "f. 38 b")
8.5: Better image on commons
8.6: Better images here
If you need help uploading these to Commons, I would ask on a help desk there. Note that 8.1 to 8.5 are certainly out of copyright, as understood by Commons policy; they're either super-old two-dimensional works, or, in the case of 8.5, placed in the public domain by the Met. 8.6 consists of photos (of a three-dimensional work) over which the Smithsonian claims copyright, and so may still be copyrighted. I would ask on Commons also, though, as they may be considered to be in public domain as works of U.S. government employees. -- Usernameunique ( talk) 07:03, 5 January 2021 (UTC) reply

The Jets (US band) entry in Billboard's Hot Dance/Disco 1974-2003

{{ Resolved}}

Hello. I would like the entry for The Jets (USA band) at this source for Special Kinda Love:

According to Billboard's website, Special Kinda Love did not chart on the Billboard Hot Dance/Disco Club Play chart (now Dance Club Songs). However, my edit was just reverted by an IP editor, so I would like to be 100% sure. Unfortuanely, I do not have a page number for The Jets (USA band) entry in this book.

Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 ( talk) 04:31, 7 January 2021 (UTC) reply

MrLinkinPark333, it looks like a full 46 articles cite this work, so perhaps another editor has this available. Taking a look at those articles and edit histories, the editors who added this as a source are:
Bayonett ( Belle Epoque (band); Patrick Juvet; Tina Charles (singer)); Carlossfsu ( Let It Roll (Doug Lazy song); Never Let You Go (Sweet Sensation song); Your Love (Lime song); Thanks to You; Paradise (Change song); Try It Out; You Can; Move On Up; Get on the Dance Floor; This Time Baby; Found a Cure (Ashford & Simpson song); Come into My Heart; I Found Love (Now That I Found You); Just Got Paid (Johnny Kemp song); Took My Love; Ladies' Night (album); With You I'm Born Again; Breakin'... There's No Stopping Us); Wolfer68 ( Temper (band); Voggue; Anthony and the Camp; Barbara Roy; Sinnamon; Good Question; Dhar Braxton; Suzi Lane); Robert Moore ( Hold Tight (Change song); Heaven of My Life); Thexperimentalist ( Aubrey Ayala); Canadaolympic989 ( Widelife); Linguoboy ( Mauro Malavasi); Gongshow ( Black Is Black); Danaphile ( José Feliciano discography); IP ( Gibson Brothers); Ericorbit (List of number-one dance singles (U.S.) of: 1974; 1982; 1978; 1980; 1981; 1983; 1979; 1975; List of artists who reached number one on the U.S. Dance Club Songs chart)
Pinging the above in case someone can help out. -- Usernameunique ( talk) 09:03, 7 January 2021 (UTC) reply

Hi there, I do not see "Special Kinda Love" listed in Joel Whitburn's Hot Dance/Disco 1974-2003 (data compiled from Billboard's Dance/Disco Club Play Charts), p. 137. However, I do find the song listed on Joel Whitburn's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Singles, 1942-2004 (chart data compiled from Billboard's R&B singles charts). In that book, "Special Kinda Love" is listed on p. 298 as having charted first on 10/27/90, peaking at #83, and remaining on the chart for 5 weeks. It appears to be the 11th and final song by The Jets to reach this chart.

Do you need images of the pages from the books? If there is a way that I can provide those and upload them, I will do so.

After article or article detail from NY Times Machine -- who has access?

  • "ELISABETH THOMAS, AUTHOR AND PAINTER". New York Times: 29. 1955-06-29.

I am looking for someone with access to New York Times TimesMachine to grab the detail of what I believe will be an obituary or a news report of death.

  • ELISABETH THOMAS, AUTHOR AND PAINTER > June 29, 1955, Page 29 [8]

I'm pretty certain that this person is s:Author:Elizabeth Rebecca Finley / Elisabeth Finley Thomas (Q55222075) who I can trace to NYC in 1953. Someone can either add the information to the enWS author talk page, or contact me by whatever means is more suitable. Thanks to anyone who can help, or point me to someone with access.

T8612 & Gazal world, to confirm, is the only part remaining of this request pages 127-150 and 330 from #3 (Develin)? -- Usernameunique ( talk) 05:34, 5 January 2021 (UTC) reply
Yes Usernameunique. I have sent all the other remained materials to T8612. It would be appreciative if you can do this (pp. 127-150, 340). -- Gazal world ( talk) 08:09, 5 January 2021 (UTC) reply
Gazal world, do you still have the ToC handy? What chapters do 127-150 and 330 correspond to? It's probably not necessary, but will help me to request it. -- Usernameunique ( talk) 08:16, 5 January 2021 (UTC) reply
Usernameunique: Yes. I sent you an E-mail. Please check. -- Gazal world ( talk) 08:52, 5 January 2021 (UTC) reply

The Jets (US band) entry in Billboard's Hot Dance/Disco 1974-2003

{{ Resolved}}

All best, Bayonett ( talk) 15:32, 7 January 2021 (UTC) reply

@ Bayonett: I dont need the R&B book as Billboard has this charting for special kinda love. As for the dance image, I dont need a scan as I jjust wanted to verify it did not chart. Thanks! -- MrLinkinPark333 ( talk) 18:27, 7 January 2021 (UTC) reply
