  • Well, you just confirmed that you continued to edit on pages you have a topic ban from. That's probably grounds for a permanent ban, but I'll cc: @ Crossroads: and @ Flyer22 Frozen: to check I'm correct on that. Also, the revert I made on your edit on the Nicholas Cummings article was because you cited the book "Making Gay Okay: How Rationalizing Homosexual Behavior Is Changing Everything". This is not a reliable nor appropriate source. There was also no need to make an entire section dedicated to Cummings beliefs about removal of homosexuality from the DSM. You are POV pushing. It would be adequate to have a few sentences under "Professional career" section, and linked to a more appropriate source. Sxologist ( talk) 05:57, 20 August 2020 (UTC) reply

Only the clerk, checkusers, and/or patrolling admins usually comment in this section, but since Mz7 doesn't seem to mind in this case... Mz7, our WP:CheckUser policy also states, "When announcing the results of their checks, CheckUsers will employ a variety of means to avoid connecting a user to an IP address, but in some cases it is hard to avoid doing so. This policy encourages English Wikipedia CheckUsers not to allow such connections to be made from their results, but the global privacy policy allows them to do so in the case of serious disruption, and this policy allows CheckUsers to prioritise compliance with Wikipedia policy over the personal privacy of a user who has abusively edited the encyclopedia. In some situations, while CheckUsers can endeavour to avoid explicitly connecting an account to an IP address, they will find it difficult or impossible not to do so. For instance, when a user edits disruptively using multiple IPs, or a mixture of IPs and accounts, the CheckUser will find it difficult to block the accounts and then the IP addresses without an obvious inference being drawn by onlookers from the series of blocks being made in a short period of time. When a user abusively uses several accounts and it is reasonably plausible they will create more accounts, the underlying IP range must be blocked so further abusive accounts cannot be made. The IP addresses and user accounts must therefore be blocked together." No need to ping me if you reply. Flyer22 Frozen ( talk) 03:09, 21 August 2020 (UTC) reply
And the IP admitted to being Lazy-restless. We don't have any reason to believe that the IP is lying about that and is impersonating Lazy-restless. Flyer22 Frozen ( talk) 03:12, 21 August 2020 (UTC) reply
Right, and I have blocked the four IP ranges I listed precisely because the IP admitted to being Lazy-restless. The reason CU is declined is because the CU policy prohibits us from publicly connecting specific IPs to specific accounts (in this case the প্রলয়স্রোত account). The general practice at WP:SPI is that if you ask us to run a check to determine whether a specific user is using a specific IP address, we will publicly decline to run that check. • Sxologist, thanks for opening this. As you now found out like I once did, CheckUser won't be done for IPs, and CheckUser data expires after a while (pretty sure it's 6 months). But I'm glad to see this worked out even without that. I suspected it may be him too. Regarding a permanent ban, see WP:Blocks and bans; but this is both WP:Block evasion and topic ban evasion, so it certainly will not help him get his block lifted, nor his topic ban if he were to pursue that one day. As a matter of technical interest: Spur is telling me that the IP they edited from is hosting some callback proxies, and poking around Spur's database with my API key shows a lot of similar sketchy callback proxies on that range, though I can't tell whether it's because a lot of the range is hosting proxies or it's because there are a couple of very dynamic IPs hosting those proxies. Bringtar logged in after more than 1.5 years just to save the article on Ved Prakash Upadhyay created by this sockmaster. [8] [9]

Another IP which was significantly used to rescue this article is 202.134.10.141. It is currently blocked for block evasion.

Bringtar used to add gross WP:BLP violations and problematic content on List of converts to Islam from Hinduism of more than 30,000 bytes. [10] Nobody ever cared to restore the defective and gross WP:BLP violating version of 30,000 additional bytes in these 2 years except this new proxy IP sock, 202.134.10.130 which is now blocked. However, this same proxy IP also edited about Ved Prakash Upadhyay. [11]

4 months ago, Bringtar had edited after nearly 2 years to vote for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ved Prakash Upadhyay [22] after he was blocked on his IP sock. [23]

Now 2 days ago, Bringtar logged in after 5 months to reinstate edits of Lazy-restless on List of converts to Islam from Hinduism [24] after his IP socks were blocked as per the last SPI. [25] [26]

These two edits similarly large edits by both Lazy-restless and Bringtar on this same article should leave no doubt. [27] [28]

Lazy-restless (with his confirmed sock Deepmason) and Bringtar complained the same user about their edits to List of converts to Islam from Hinduism. [29] [30]

Bringtar has also asked আফতাবুজ্জামান to explain why he reverted socks of Lazy-restless as if it was a wrong thing. [31]

This IP sock has exhibited his deep interest with List of converts to Islam from Hinduism just like Bringtar [12] [13] but he also lamented getting "Template:Ds/alert" on the "Bringtar" account on ANI. [14] @ Girth Summit: Do you agree this is WP:DUCK behavior? Aman Kumar Goel ( Talk) 12:19, 14 September 2023 (UTC) reply
@ Girth Summit: added a new account. It is eager to insert "A. R. Rahman" to List of converts to Islam from Hinduism [15] just like Bringtar [16] and 202.134.8.129 [17] were. Aman Kumar Goel ( Talk) 18:49, 15 September 2023 (UTC) reply

  • CU is  Inconclusive - Bringtar is using VPNs, so comparison against archived data is not helpful.  Behavioural evidence needs evaluation Girth Summit (blether) 13:44, 9 September 2023 (UTC) reply
  • Bringtar shares POV and they might have been canvassed to AFD, but I do not see enough evidence to call it a sock. The others are already blocked. Closing. MarioGom ( talk) 14:24, 1 October 2023 (UTC) reply
  • Post-archive comment I cannot recall why I didn't mention this at the time - must have been a mental slip. Deepmason, along with Planethabitat, is  Confirmed to Md. Sajidul Alam, a globally locked sock of Lazy-restless. I'm going to request locks on both accounts. Girth Summit (blether) 10:36, 7 October 2023 (UTC) reply

Suspected sockpuppets

Globally blocked user:Lazy-restless (his sock User:Lavito principa) created Pak-Bangla language article & was deleted per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pak-Bangla language. Now same article is created by this IP as Draft:Bengali language in Arabic script with exactly the same text (see the deleted version on https://en.everybodywiki. com/Pak-Bangla_language (remove the space from url to work, unable to save the edit with space). I suspect Lazy-restless is back, please check. আফতাবুজ্জামান ( talk) 17:22, 23 December 2023 (UTC) reply

Hi, I am quite sure Special:Contributions/103.67.159.98 also their IP. On Legend of Cheraman Perumals, Hindu–Islamic relations, & other articles, this IP added same text as 116.58.201.23. আফতাবুজ্জামান ( talk) 19:30, 29 December 2023 (UTC) reply

Suspected sockpuppets

Looks like a duck to me. Georgethedragonslayer ( talk) 01:37, 5 January 2024 (UTC) reply
