Suspected sockpuppets

There's just way too many diffs to point out (the Editor Interaction Analyser says it all really), but if you look at both of their accounts, they have a huge overlap in interests most notably on Malaysian topics and foods that originate from South East/East Asia. Their user page comes off as extremely similar as well, with Awanama putting just "Hi" while Hati Kama has "Hello World". In addition, both usernames end with -ama.

They both seem to engage in very similar nationalist POV pushing, constantly adding stuff relating to Malaysia on topics which are contentious on the connection to the latter. The account Awanama was also previously blocked twice by Drmies, first for 31 hours and then a week for personal attacks. I matched the dates and it seems like their sock, Hati Kama, was created around the time when their master account was blocked for the 2nd time.

Timeline

  • Awanama – blocked for a week on 12 October 2020 for personal attacks
  • Hati Kama – starts making edits immediately at the same topic area on 16 October 2020, which was during the time when Awanama was blocked

Diffs

I think the most clear cut diff that links the two account together is on the article Roti canai, where both accounts reverted the same exact diff (+edit warring) with just 4 hours separating the two. IP 202.166.49.156 (who made the initial same diff) could possibly be Awanama logging out too.

  • [1] - Revert by Hati Kama
  • [2] - Does another revert, this time with Awanama

This sort of behaviour is prevalent in many other articles where both accounts frequent, most likely to create an illusion of support.

On the topic of their previous personal attack blocks, I hope users such as Austonesier, Gunkarta and Ibra Bintang can help me out here as I'm not well versed into what happened prior to my suspicions, but so far this is the general idea. However I'm confident that Awanama is currently engaging in sockpuppetry possibly to ward off scrutiny after being previously blocked twice. ShelteredCook ( talk) 06:21, 1 December 2020 (UTC) reply

I do agree with ShelteredCook's suspicion. I did suspect that Hati Kama was Awanama's sockpuppet, highly possibly as a block evasion sock, also some edits made by several un-login ip addresses. However, I just stand back and see how this will develop, anticipating whether in the future another edit wars will took place. I think Awanama is rather quite careful now, but cunning and dishonest at the same time, compared to his recklessness and tantrums in the past. However, I do not appreciate how he deleted/blanked his past talkpage here and here, as if the past accidents, warnings and disputes never happened; which put a question on his credibility. Thank you for pointing out this problem, Please go ahead on this sockpuppet investigation.  Gunkarta   talk  11:40, 2 December 2020 (UTC) reply

  •  Additional information needed. In order to facilitate and expedite your request, please provide diffs to support your case. Please give two or more diffs meeting the following format:
  1. At least one diff is from the sockmaster (or an account already blocked as a confirmed sockpuppet of the sockmaster), showing the behaviour characteristic of the sockmaster.
  2. At least one diff per suspected sockpuppet, showing the suspected sockpuppet emulating the behaviour of the sockmaster given in the first diff.
  3. In situations where it is not immediately obvious from the diffs what the characteristic behaviour is, a short explanation must be provided. Around one sentence is enough for this. GeneralNotability ( talk) 18:46, 21 August 2021 (UTC) reply
