Carrite(
talk·contribs·central auth·count·email) - I've got 60K edits, 2/3 of which are to mainspace, and by my count 261 starts, zero of which are stubs and most of which are B or C class. No access via local libraries. As I concentrate on Labor History and Radical Politics, Labor History would be absolute gold for my area of interest. Anything else in the package would be gravy — that journal is #1 with a bullet in terms of sources i need for my WP work. Thanks, —Tim Davenport, Corvallis, OR USA ///

Worldbruce(
talk·contribs·central auth·count·email)) My maintenance and
AfC reviewer efforts bring me into contact with a wide variety of articles that need work on their sources, in terms of both verifiability and expansion. I cite something at least once a week found through the databases TWL already gives me access to, and would expect a similar level of activity for EBSCO. Access could make my work more efficient and allow me to help more articles more completely.
Zigzig20s(

I have run across several instances in just the last few weeks where I could not find a source for verification or failed to locate a source while reviewing articles where EBSCO would have allowed me access. In fact for the article I am working on now EBSCO is the only curated database I searched that had relevant sources. I also constantly monitor changes to numerous articles, and regularly edit articles by other editors. I have published a book, now in its 2-volume 2nd edition:- Through the Jade Gate - China to Rome: A Study of the Silk Routes 1st to 2nd centuries CE which includes the first complete English translation of the chapter on the countries to the west of China from the Hou Hanshu. I am preparing another book - a translation of the 3rd century CE, the Weilüe, which also describes the Silk Routes both overland and maritime between China, India, Central Asia and Rome. I am trying to incorporate much of this information into the Wikipedia and regularly find myself unable to access your precious resource as I live in a very isolated region a couple of thousand kilometers from a significant library.

talk·contribs) I have been an editor for about a decade. Per
X!'s Tools I have over 17,000 edits, 14,000+ of which are on unique pages. As the number of articles on Wikipedia have reached a critical mass, I have moved from creating and proofreading articles to creating citations for existing articles. The publicly available sources for searching scholarly works usually point to an abstract for an article or a pay site (e.g. JSTOR) so my ability to provide accurate and complete citations are currently limited. As for my areas of interest, they tend toward history and the sciences, especially zoology as this area seems to be most in need of expansion and citation of sources.

Smuckola(
talk·contribs·central auth·count·email) Please add me to EBSCO, because I am a monstrously accomplished editor particularly in the field of retro technology and gaming, with a voracious need for sources. I need to verify existing sources that other editors have given, saying that they accessed it via Business Source Complete; I need to source existing unsourced content; and I need to find new sources for my own vast amounts of original content. As one example, I have probably doubled the amount of content on the history of the Nintendo 64 video game console and its games and accessories, covering most of a decade. As one tiny example, in
Nintendo 64 Game Pak, I need to verify some sources and convert old junk-formatted citations such as "Ricciardi, John. "Still Super After All These Years." Electronic Gaming Monthly 14.9 (2001): 126. Business Source Complete. Web. 23 July 2013." into a real Wikipedia citation format, while verifying and expanding the content from it. As a Jedi master of these arcane arts,

Bearcat(

I'm frequently involved in article creation and referencing repair, particularly but not exclusively on Canadian and LGBT topics — and perusing the list of publications on EBSCO's site, I see several titles (The Advocate, Gay & Lesbian Review Worldwide, almost anything with the word "Canadian" in it, etc.) that I've long wanted and/or needed to get into. Just yesterday, in fact — and I don't mean "seems like yesterday", I mean literally within the past 24 hours — I was struggling to find enough referencing to start a new article, and came across an indication that there was content in EBSCO that would have helped. I managed, for the time being, to get the article started — but getting to that EBSCO stuff to see if there's anything else I can add to the article would still help.

The social sciences and history journals on EBSCO would be useful to me

I work on articles having to do mostly with women, works created by women (such as conferences, organizations, artworks, books, etc.), and minorities. I do not restrict my writing to the US, but have written many articles on subjects from every continent, including several recent contributions to women working in Antarctica. I often encounter articles which would be accessible through EBSCO, but must rely on other contacts to obtain those articles for me. Having my own access would greatly facilitate the creation of quality articles.

My intent is to assess whether or not access will in fact help the applicant who may or may not be familiar with the specific titles in the collection and their respective scopes. But... CSUMB, I've been asking random friends with institutional access to help with research, buying back issues of old magazines for critical reception via
AbeBooks (If or Galaxy Science Fiction) or cannibalizing old citations from research papers to bolster new articles, i.e. The Falling Astronauts, etc. Given much of what I need is only available via interlibrary loan or beyond paywalls, I feel like this would help my research a great deal.-

Skr15081997: You meet the requirements and your editing history looks good. The only thing I'm curious about, though is the topic area (non-fiction books). From your history it looks to me like you've spent a lot of time editing articles on films, but not much on books. Is this going to be a new topic area for you? Or are the book-related edits just lost in the shuffle? And please note that I'm just asking this in order to assess the degree of a match between your stated intentions and the kinds of sourcing the collections offer. Based on your qualifications I'm happy to grant you access if you're intending to use it for film as well or instead because there are plenty of journals on the topic of film available through EBSCO. -

Delabrede(
talk·contribs·central auth·count·email) I spend some hours each day doing research on American artists of the 20th century in order to make articles on ones who are under-appreciated. Access to EBSCO resources, particularly Academic Search Complete, would enable me to locate and use articles in art journals on the persons whom I'm researching, on the organizations of which they were members, and on the cultural climate of the times in which they lived. At present I'm limited primarily to news accounts in the New York Times and other New York papers and would benefit greatly from access to a broad range of journal resources. The Wikipedia library is an excellent tool and I'm glad to have the opportunity to apply for access. --

Sturmvogel 66: The entirety of EBSCO is not available to us at the present time, but I do see some materials of potential help to you among EBSCO's Academic Search Complete materials (to which TWL does provide access). Specifically, for the Byzantine topic I see Greek, Roman & Byzantine Studies and for the Ottoman topic I see such journals as International Journal of Turkish Literature, Culture, Education; International Review of Turkology; Turkish Studies; and Hacettepe University Journal of Turkish Studies. Were these the journals you had in mind or were there other specific journals in EBSCO's collection that you were interested in? -

I'm not interested in the literature and general cultural stuff, but more the history that I hope to find in Greek, Roman & Byzantine Studies, Turkish Studies, etc. I'm also hoping that y'all have access to War in History and the Journal of Military History as I'm contemplating on working on some Byzantine/Ottoman battles.--

Dan Mihai Pitea(
talk·contribs·central auth·count·email) I'd like to rewrite the biographical article on
Michael I of Romania (on ro.wiki and en.wiki), and I need access to the archive of time.com. Articles published over the years in Time are cited both in the en.wiki and ro.wiki articles, but are not currently accessible. Counting my former account (
User:Hype supper) I have somewhere around 20.000 edits to Wikimedia project, mainly to ro.wikipedia, en.wikipedia, de.wikipedia and Commons. Nowadays my non-sysop edits focus on history. One example of my commitment to writing based on sources is
ro:Constantin Brâncoveanu. --

Dan Mihai Pitea: TWL's EBSCO access is intended facilitate a (semi-)regular use of the resource. If this is a one-time request for a small number of articles from Time.com, then you might want to try
WP:RX or one of
these editors first. But let me know if you think you might make regular use of this database and I would be happy to help. -

I left out that I would also consult the time archive for other Romanian topics related to Romanian politics, spanning the Interbellum and the Communist period. There are also a number of historical publications at MasterFILE Complete which I would like to use for creation of Wikipedia content, like Central European History, Cold War History and European Review of History, so I would definitely go farther than research for a single article. --

Yes of course. If you see the Afds that I have been participating in regularly over the past many months, I have strived to improve articles in the business, academic and general fields that have general notability. Access to this database would allow me to improve the articles much better. Thank you.

Teblick(
talk·contribs·central auth·count·email) I have been active on Wikipedia since January 2014, both creating articles (more than 100) and editing existing articles. My areas of interest are old-time radio, television, and film -- especially the people who contributed to those fields in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. Several titles in the list of EBSCO resources look promising for providing useful information as I continue to do research and write and edit in those areas. I would appreciate receiving one of the free EBSCO accounts.

SusunW(
talk·contribs·central auth·count·email) I have been editing only 2 years, but I have created over 650 articles, the great portion of which are start class or higher and have over 25,000 edits and 186 DYK, as well as having been involved in 15 approved GAs.

Samwalton9: Well here's where I would normally ask you to clarify which specific parts of the EBSCO collection you were interested in or which of your editing areas would be benefited by access to EBSCO. My intent is to assess whether or not access will in fact help the applicant who may or may not be familiar with the specific titles in the collection and their respective scopes. But... DoctorWho42(
talk·contribs·central auth·count·email), I've created about 350 articles and have 3 DYKs. While the subjects vary, I would be more interested in writing more articles on literature. Since graduating from
CSUMB, I've been asking random friends with institutional access to help with research, buying back issues of old magazines for critical reception via

DannyMusicEditor: You meet the requirements and your editing history looks good, but I wonder if this is the best venue for your request. The access granted here is for use of the EBSCO databases for a 1-year period. If your use of the database is actually just limited to the duration of a single FA, then you may be more interested in asking for assistance from editors who use EBSCO (including users who have even broader access levels than what we offer) at
WP:RX. Or do you anticipate making use of the database for other future projects in addition to the
