Welcome!

Hi, Weatherby551, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender ( LGBT) and intersex people. LGBT Studies covers people, culture, history, and related subjects concerning sexual identity and gender identity - this covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated! Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve articles, so if someone seeks help, please try to assist if you are able. Likewise feel free to ask for help, advice or clarification.
  • Many important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you're going to stay awhile, please create a square in our project quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

New page on climate change and gender

Feel free to comment on my proposed page here! :) The content is in my sandbox right now.

Hej Weatherby551, I am studying MSc "Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science" at Lund University. As part of a Seminar on "Gender and Sustainability" I would like to edit your article on "Climate Change and Gender". I would leave all your content intact but add some sources, restructure the page and add some more content, especially regarding the following topics: 1. Importance of Gender in terms of Climate Change adaptation and mitigation, 2. Gendered Perception of Climate Change 3. Gendered contributions to Climate Change, 4. Gender in Climate Change research. Furthermore I would like to edit the "policy" part so it does not only entail effects of policy on gender but also gendered power structures within decision-making bodies and processes. Lastly, I think it may be a good idea to include the topic in the general "Gender" and "Climate Change" Articles (I head problems finding this article!). Since I've got the impression that this is virtually "your" article, I would like to ask for permission befor editing it. Thanks a lot! - Theo-bromin

P.S.: If you want to discuss this personally, send an email to theoaalders@yahoo.de

Your submission at Articles for creation

Climate Change and Gender, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.
The article has been assessed as B-Class, which is recorded on the article's talk page. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for Creation if you prefer.

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

Hi Weatherby. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! -- Another Believer ( Talk) 18:03, 13 May 2014 (UTC) reply

Invitation

Have you heard of the Kaffeeklatsch? It is a test area for women to hear and support each other. The idea came about as a result of a discussion at meta regarding my IdeaLab proposal (yet open) for WikiProject Women.

Now that the klatsch has survived an MfD and WMF legal has said that it does not violate the non discrimination policy, [1] I am looking for women editors who might like to join.

Although I have started a couple of discussions, they are not urgent. For now, the "Please introduce yourself" discussion is more important! I want to take it slow at first and build a small group before trying to address heavy topics or come up with big goals. For now, the klatsch is there as a sort of refuge. I hope you will consider joining, and invite other women editors, too, if you wish. Lightbreather ( talk) 21:04, 11 February 2015 (UTC) reply
