Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Hungry Ghosts (album), but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Binksternet ( talk) 00:09, 14 February 2015 (UTC) reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Your move/merge of Hewlett-Packard into HP Inc

Hello. I have reverted your move/merge for two reasons: a) there's no consensus on Talk:Hewlett-Packard for such a merge, and b) cut-and-paste moves like the one you made are not allowed, all such moves/merges must be done through a history merge (which can only be done by administrators), since the page history and its attributions (i.e. who did what when) must be preserved. So please don't make such cut-and-paste moves/merges again. Thank you. Thomas.W talk 11:40, 6 March 2016 (UTC) reply

Oculus Rift

I had to roll back the image change you made to Oculus Rift. Our fair-use policy does not permit the use of copyrighted non-free images where a freely-licensed image is available or could be produced. You replaced an existing freely-licensed image, so that was an unambiguous violation of WP:FU. Sorry. -- Yamla ( talk) 15:33, 17 March 2016 (UTC) reply

You have changed the film's genre from horror / thriller to psychological thriller without wp:citing a wp:reliable source (RS). I see that wp:rotten tomatoes, an RS lists its genre as horror only. IMDB lists Horror, thriller, and crime. However IMDB is not considered RS in many cases as it uses user submitted information. Please try to use and cite RS? Adding references is how we ensure that content is correct. Without references, a reader can not easily validate information and there is no presumption of accuracy. Please see wp:verifiability. Cheers Jim1138 ( talk) 04:27, 17 May 2016 (UTC) reply

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ForeverSpin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi there. Thanks for your recent edit to Participant Media. Even though it added some useful info you also removed the "topic" column I added to the films table. Was this on purpose? Because usually it's up to the newest editor to preserve the info of previous edits...

-- Fixuture ( talk) 21:05, 7 July 2016 (UTC) reply

Hey Fixuture. Sorry for deleting it, but it was a somewhat hard decision to remove the "Topic" column or keep it, because when I glanced at it with the newly-added columns, it didn't look constructive, same with the "Awards" columns the films that have received accolades would state it.

Anyways, sorry for that and if you want to add it back, you can, but to me it looks better. It's all up to you, and I fine with it. Game on. sheldon.andre ( talk) 04:01, 16 July 2016 (UTC) reply

A tag has been placed on File:The1975for2016cover.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Under no circumstances whatsoever can you simply grab an image from the NME website and upload it here. That is copyright violation and could get you banned. F13 game

It's redirected to the franchise page because there isn't significant coverage. There's coverage, but there isn't so much information that it cannot easily reside on the franchise page with the other games. The game hasn't been released (it's still not a guarantee that it will be released), thus there isn't reception on the game. There is just some basic development information (and unsourced information present). It doesn't warrant a page to itself right now.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 08:09, 14 August 2016 (UTC) reply

Wikidata

Great job adding Friday the 13th: The Game and Shane Stoneman to Wikidata. There was one step you missed for the future. For each item in Wikidata, there needs to be an "instance Of" property. For example, "Friday the 13th: The Game" is an instance of video game, while "Shane Stoneman" is an instance of human. I've updated them but just wanted to drop you a quick note. :) You should set instance of first on each new item, as it helps Wikidata categorize the item and guide you to related properties. I also set "given name" and "family name" on Shane's item. -- ferret ( talk) 13:19, 17 August 2016 (UTC) reply

Information icon Please don't change the format of dates, as you did to Blair Witch (film). As a general rule, if an article has evolved using predominantly one format, the dates should be left in the format they were originally written in, unless there are reasons for changing it based on strong national ties to the topic. Please also note that Wikipedia does not use ordinal suffixes (e.g., st, nd, th), articles, or leading zeros on dates.

For more information about how dates should be written on Wikipedia, please see this page.

If you have any questions about this, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Enjoy your time on Wikipedia. Thank you. JOJ Hutton 20:12, 30 August 2016 (UTC) reply

Categories

I note you provided a link to WP:Categorization in Category:DJI - you might want to read it yourself. When you create a category about something that has its own article, the category name should match the article name exactly - both the DJI and Iriver categories needed renaming. Also it's really important to add categories, otherwise noone will find the new categories - and they're needed for bots to do various maintenance tasks. Finally, I suggest you read WP:SMALLCAT and don't go too crazy on making new categories for companies if there's only 1-2 product articles to categorise plus the company article - there's just not much point. Please don't do cut and paste moves

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Red Barrels Games a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Red Barrels. This is known as a " cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Large updates to console articles

Hi Sheldon. Could you please try to avoid large sweeping changes to console articles, like you have recently done to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch? It makes it very difficult for other editors to review your changes, and if there are any issues that need to be undone, we're forced to undo the entire thing generally. If you could make your edits one section at a time in smaller chunks, it'll be easier on other editors and less likely to be reverted entirely. -- ferret ( talk) 17:53, 21 October 2016 (UTC) reply

Replaceable fair use File:PLAY 1.png

Thanks for uploading File:PLAY 1.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq ( talk) 23:02, 2 November 2016 (UTC) reply

  • Thanks Majora. However, as stated on the file and its discussion page, it is from an official press kit made by Sonos itself, and is subject to copyright. Furthermore, the images provided on the press kit are the original source and all others not from that source aren't deemed by it's copyright and means that it was used by the publisher of that secondary source. Sonos retains all copyright and can revoke it. sa ( talk) 03:12, 4 November 2016 (UTC) reply
I don't think you understand why the page was marked for deletion. Anyone with the speaker can just take a photo of it and upload it under a free license. Therefore, it is a replaceable fair use image and a violation of our fair use policy. -- Majora ( talk) 22:44, 4 November 2016 (UTC) reply

Per Wikipedia's nonfree-content policy, non-free images which can be replaced by free images are not allowed. There is no need for a non-free image of Mario Queiroz holding the product when we can replace it with a free image of just the product. -- Whpq ( talk) 02:45, 16 November 2016 (UTC) reply

I had to roll back the image change you made to Oculus Rift.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled " Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Lordtobi ( ) 14:06, 16 August 2016 (UTC) reply

Ways to improve Mirror Maru

Hi, I'm Mduvekot. Sheldon.andre, thanks for creating Mirror Maru!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. One review is a bit thin, as far as substantial coverage from independent, reliable sources goes.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Ways to improve Blackmagic Cinema Camera

Hi, I'm Elliot321. Sheldon.andre, thanks for creating Blackmagic Cinema Camera!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The specifications and hardware section sounds like an advertisement. Other than that, the page is pretty good.

xx articles

Please stop revising the leads to xx album articles, as you did here. You introduced grammatically awkward phrases ("upon release"), unnecessary rearrangement of text, and equally frivolous rewording (reference to "Smith" gone, even though it's used elsewhere throughout the article, for instance). Replaceable fair use File:Jamboard.png

Thanks for uploading File:Jamboard.png.

Thank you. ViperSnake151  Talk  16:06, 8 June 2017 (UTC) reply
