I know there is a way to add a userpage to your watchlist and all of his edits will also be on your watchlist, but I couldn't tell you how. It's on one of the lists of things you can add to your .js or .css, but it isn't popups. Reywas92 ^Talk 10:52, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Please don't move pages to add an s to possessives like Gauss'. The section WP:MOS#Possessives allows either style for possessives of proper nouns ending in s, and WP:MOS#Consistency explains that when there are several permitted styles, the existing style should be left as is unless there is a strong agreement in favor of the change. I only noticed this because a different editor had already moved some of the Gauss' law articles earlier, so they were on my watchlist. I had assumed the articles has been moved back along with the other articles the other user had renamed; apparently I was incorrect. It may be that you could get agreement that all the article titles starting in Gauss' should change; I don't know which form is more common. — Carl ( CBM ·  talk) 21:51, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

I understand the concern - however, I'm basically acting along the lines of a pattern which I have been following for some time, as have others, without comment. Regarding the protected area stubs - I see your point, and perhaps I was overzealous in their creation.

However...regarding the Virginia geographic stubs, I am doing something that a.) I have done before, and b.) I have specifically been requested, from several sources, to continue, and I have been encouraged in the task by others. As someone who has encouraged Albert, I must comment on this. While I agree that very short stubs in certain areas (e.g. fictional characters, businesses) are undesirable, such stubs are, in my view, very helpful with respect to town and location articles. These are clearly notable subjects and articles on them are desirable. Having even a short stub is therefore helpful in terms of providing some basic information on the town and is a fantastic way to draw in new editors into contributing in desirable areas. A prospective new editor is far more likely to contribute to a stub article then they are to attempt to create a whole new Wikipedia page. Therefore, I respectfully disagree with your premise and your admonition to Albert.-- Kubigula ( talk) 15:55, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

I agree with Kubigula. Given that Albert is making a concerted effort to get missing content onto wikipedia on clearly notable subjects which shouldn't be missing you;re missing the point of what wiki is all about. Wikipedia has always been about building an encyclopedia and it is how we have grown from small stubs like this. People in browsing come across a sub standard article and try to find something to write about it. See Pike State Forest and you;ll see it in the middle of expansion. Ia dmit he could create articles at least with a link and one or two basic facts but the way you spoke to him is often putting and rude. Also as for my own personal use of bloated infoboxes, sure a few parameters could be taken out but I fele it important to leave some parameters open such as photographs and maps incase anybody unfamiliar with how to add a parameter wants to add something. Given that most editors who use wikipedia ar enot familiar with the technicalities of how our infoboxes and nav plates work this really is not of uttermost concern. P.S I know you think that I spend all my time on here creating useless stubs but I actually do a lot of work developing articles and translating, my most recent are Xalapa, Rionegro and Tenerife which I'm working on at present. I am always striving to imporve quality but given the content missing in many areas creating stubs is a step we must take. Believe me I;d rather spent all of my time on here writing articles to GA standard and beyond. At present I'm working through Mexican municipalities which potentially could all look like Xalapa does at present, but I have to do something about getting them started first. I congatulate and thank you for what you have done with Pike State Forest, but I disagree with the method. Yes, you can start with short articles and later add to them, but my opinion is that, if you are able to build up an article such as Blofeld has done with Pike, you should write an acceptable-length article before moving on to creating another stub, not after hundreds of one-liners are made. It doesn't need to be expansive, but I believe that more than a statement of existence should be included in a new article before making another. I know that can be done. And no, Blofeld, I do not think you spend all your time creating useless stubs. I have seen many of your useful contributions and I just commenten that your Nepalese place articles were very nice and acceptable. I know of your, Kubigula's, and Albert's hard work, but with your Mexican munipalities, I simply think that you can make a great GA right after you get one started, not after all of them, many of which would be too short for too long. My bad. I corrected all the other articles from Day Month, Year to Day Month Year. Dispatches was the only exception and was Month Day, Year; I changed it like the others not realizing it was different and already correct. Thanks for keeping an eye on me! Here's a case in point, some parts of 94th United States Congress says that it conveined on Jan 4, 1975 and other say Jan 3. I don't kmow what to beleive.-- Dr who1975 ( talk) 21:18, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

I know. Some seniority articles say the senators took office one date while others say a different date. Some of those Senator articles have January 3 listed while others in the same year have January 4. I think part of the problem is that the duration of a Congress always starts and ends on January 3 but the sessions they meet start a few days later. But on which day are the new Senators sworn in? Just to let you know, way back in November when you asked about water spheres, I went ahead and ordered some of those "crystal soil" plant potting balls, because I was curious and they were only a couple of bucks. [2]

They're really cool, and they exactly match the water balls you described. They come in little packets the size of a Kool-Aid packet, and dry, they're about the size of a grain of salt.

I dropped two of the clear ones into a cup of water and went to watch a movie. When I came back to check on them a couple hours later my first thought was that something had gone wrong and that they had dissolved completely. Not so. They're just completely invisible in water. Or very, very nearly so. Very cool. They're slightly squishy like you describe, but also springy, so you can make them bounce if you try hard enough.

I've discovered that if I shine a flashlight into the cup and move the light around, I can sometimes see a glint off the edge of the balls, and sometimes I can see a vague undefined halo, but most of the time they're just not visible.

Anyway, if you haven't managed to find an answer to your water balls question, I strongly recommend picking up some of these "Crystal Soil" plant potting packets. They're cheap, and they're exactly what you described playing with. (It's possible they've also been sold as toys, but I haven't found any being sold that way.)

They are, however, just the right size to accidentally swallow, and who knows what they're made of, so I wouldn't recommend letting small children play with them without supervision.

The guidelines for Wikipedia:Peer review ask that editors nominate no more than one article per day (and four total at any one time).
