Hi. I'm currently thinking about planning a merger of many of our structre/landmark templates on wikipedia into a super template Infobox building like the infobox settlement. I think in the long term for maintenance and consistency purposes this is the way forward. See my comments to Plastikspork. If you are interested I suggest we draw up a list of building templates currently used on wikipedia like Infobox skyscraper, infobox casino etc, infobox lighthouse etc and we find a way to use one template but catered to each building types requirements. Things like this are going to get you into trouble. I would very much not like to have Wikipedia lose someone as constructive in templatespace as you again, but treating every argument like a battleground is likely to end that way; remember than uninvolved editors have a tendency to side with admins in personal disputes regardless of who's in the wrong. If you think people are misbehaving then take them to task for it or try a method of dispute resolution; escalating the conflict is only going to end badly. ANI is not and never was the correct venue for personal squabbles of this sort. I would have strongly advised you against taking it to ANI on the simple basis that comments along the lines of "admin X is attacking me" are almost always more likely to draw more negative attention to the raiser of the discussion than the alleged transgressor. As for the actual issue, in my experience the editing of others' comments is typically seen as a bad idea unless the comments in question were truly beyond the pale. Take this from an editor sympathetic to your position in a lot of cases who does not want to see you admonished for your behaviour because you get worked up by someone else's bad behaviour. Ignore him, as he has little demonstrable credibility on any of the matters at hand (such as the definition of consensus, the evaluation of good arguments, or the interpretation of the microformats standard) at this point, and allow others to defend you if it is deemed necessary. Avoid gainsaying (I would note that you're prone to this); it is not necessary to have the last word in any argument, and if the only reply you have to a given assertion is to deny it then it is fine simply to leave it hang. Attempt to ensure that your replies focus entirely on the matter of the argument and not at all on the behaviour of those opposing you. And most of all, be patient. The various RfCs will run their course and be closed after 30 days; there is no need to do any more than to convince impartial observers of your correctness over the course of the debate, something which you're more than capable of doing simply by sticking to the facts. As for the personal attacks, isolated incidents are best ignored; your personal credibility is not undermined by an editor with little credibility of his own attacking you. Be the better man. Should said attacks escalate, try contacting an uninvolved adminstrator for advice rather than going straight to ANI. I've had a lot of success following these rules. There's been an edit war on this article just lately, which has focussed my attention on the concept section in particular. While largely true (when examining the lyrics and reading contributions from across the internet), the existing source (attributed to Blake) wasn't sufficient to cover all that section, and I've been rewriting it using your Complete guide.

Well, what does it do? From what I can see, geohack lives on the toolserver and emits this. Typically, resource-type things don't live in templatespace: as I say, I'm still not really sure exactly what this is, but is it similar to Special:BookSources? The pipe you removed from the title row here inverted its meaning and I had to restore it (title and above are intended to be mutually exclusive here depending on whether or not the user has specified a background colour). I was thinking that this might be a good way to merge many of the myriad of people infoboxes, by using the person box as a backend (e.g., {{ Uses Infobox settlement}}). Another idea would be to use the "misc" field to create "plugin" variations to the standard box, much in the same way the album box uses {{ Extra chronology}}. It still seems a bit of a hack, but see here for example. The Internet information section is embedded using {{ Infobox person/Internet info}}. It would be a bit cleaner to use a nested table, but then the labels wouldn't be aligned. I'm also not sure if this is the best name for the module. In any event, if you have any comments, let me know. I tried to keep most of the information in the main box, just in case this is all deemed trivial and needs to be deleted later. Thanks! I've added support for subclassing to {{ infobox chef}}, which I know you've wanted to have merged into {{ infobox person}} for a while. There's a note on Template talk:Infobox person#Purpose of merging templates about it. Fancy trying it out and seeing if the effect suits you? Start with an {{ infobox person}} and then add:

Many thanks for your support with formating the Rajesh Touchriver article. I am just learning how to carry out editing on wiki, adhering to wiki quality standards, etc and formatting is something I'm particularly bad at. Actually I myself wrote the May version of the article (which was tagged) and sent it to Mr Touchriver requesting him to upload it as I didn't know then how to. I wasn't aware of the biography of living persons category, conflict of interest, etc until I saw the tag recently. As you can see from the history, I have edited my own write up with a vengeance :-), referring to the style and presentation of accepted, untagged articles of Indian film makers like Aparna Sen. Hi Andy, I am learning how to access microformat data hidden on the taxon pages. I tried the following example:

I am expecting to see the species class show up, with class, superfamily, family etc, but none of these show up in the result. What am I doing wrong?

I merged around 20 or 25 "name styles" templates into a more generic {{ Infobox manner of address}}. They are all now weak frontends that just pass parameters to the generic template. So, if you want to add any microformats, you can do so by adding them to the generic template, without tracking the other 20 or 25 that call it. Eventually, I would like to get the entire lot, and just leave the generic "manner of address template", but for now this to be a good first step. Okay, it looks like these are being resolved, and the creator is being quite cooperative. I personally don't have a strong opinion about creating subtemplates of Infobox settlement with some of the regional details filled in, but they shouldn't be complete forks (instead just call settlement as a backend). and I tried [5] but it is very unclear because of the unrelated timespans that each of the top 5 examples have (jesus, elvis, dinosaurs, earth, universe) and also because the timeline appears at the top of the page, even when the lower examples are clicked (iraq war, 19th century, trilobites, etc).

I think your "View" section at the RfC, and the wikiproject microformats page, would benefit immensely from additional examples.

Hi. I'm gonna get back to the microformats RfC; it's important. I glossed your view and like it; I need to read it closely, still. I'm in the middle of another discussion that seems to me to be the same issue; use of citation templates (or not;); they have microformats in them, right? Seems they should. Take a peek at Talk:Halle Berry#citation style. There's a similar discussion at Talk:Uma Thurman#References. Yes, I've seen it. As I said on the page, if the rationale is the same, then my vote is the same as well. Andy, In the article on the Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company you refer to the carriage made for the Argentine President in 1910. I see where this is included in John Hypher's book. I have been trying to work with the timeline data in this article that you reformatted with the { {Timeline-event} } tags. It seems that it may be useful converted into a graphic illustration with { {Graphical timeline} } but that task is stretching my template abilities. Before I figured out that it was you who added that template to the article I asked another editor who has experience with templates to help me work with it on my talk page.

If you have the time and interest, perhaps you can pop over and tell us what you originally had in mind when you added that template and advise us on how best to proceed. Wonder if you could help out here. Gerard Way is unhappy with his picture on his Wikipedia article. He stated this in Kerrang! magazine, which was reported at WP:HD#Gerard way picture. I note from the article that he is on Twitter. I know you use twitter, and wondered whether you would contact him and explain how he could get an up to date photo used on the article (i.e. one with a Wikipedia compatible licence).
