Orphaned non-free media (File:Mothman.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Mothman.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot ( talk) 05:03, 6 March 2009 (UTC) reply

Non-free use disputed for File:Mothman.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Mothman.jpg. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.)

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. PhilKnight ( talk) 14:58, 14 March 2009 (UTC) reply

Think we should probably give the competitors more sources of information to use in the competition, because some people might get lost. Another idea would be to probably let people take more than 1 image and the card. I mean, for all we know, people might do things better on pic 3 or 4. As well, I do want to let people feel a little more free to go farther via car. (May I suggest Nassau County?) Also, I would suggest would be starting the competition at 10. Regarding an article having to do with China/North Korea

Hello there. I found you by looking through the list of admins from Wikipedia:WikiProject International relations and thought I should run this by you...

I came across Missile issues in East Asia, and thought you'd might want to take a look at it. Personally, I think it's an unnecessary article, as 90% of it is straight from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty article, while the rest just basically says "North Korea and China are pointing missiles at US allies in the Far East." INF did not involve China or North Korea at all, did it not? If I'm wrong, the article fails to inform me how the INF treaty fits into all of this. To me, it also seems as if it is a veiled form of objective protest.

Seeing as how I'm not knowledgeable enough on this subject to know whether or not to give it PROD tag or suggest merging it with other related articles, etc., I figure I'd best let you look at it at decide the best course of action. At the very least, it deserves a cleanup tag of sorts, as it is very poorly written. Happy editing. - SoSaysChappy ( talk) 16:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC) reply

Location change (and reservations made) for DC meetup

I stopped by TGI Friday's this evening and was less than impressed. They apparently don't take reservations, except perhaps if you call 24 hours ahead of time. The staff was not so helpful, and the menu has hardly anything vegetarian which is an issue for some people.

So, I checked out the Bertucci's pizza/Italian place across the street (21st & I St NW). Their staff couldn't have been more helpful, and think it will be fairly quiet so we will be able to hear each other. So, reservations are made for Bertucci's at 5pm on Saturday. -- Aude ( talk) 02:37, 2 June 2009 (UTC) reply

"They haven't been uploaded to Commons yet. We're deliberately holding off on uploading them until the participating museums have finished their labeling process at Flickr.--Pharos (talk) 14:47, 6 March 2009 (UTC)" ... as far as I know, the labeling is done, the scoring is done, and the winners have been announced, so can we let 'er rip now? howcheng { chat} 23:32, 11 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Oh, I stand corrected -- Cary says the scoring isn't done yet, but labeling should be complete at any rate. howcheng { chat} 23:34, 11 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Meetup

Hi,

It was great speaking to you at the meetup today. I'll be back in NYC from August so feel free to shoot me a message if you need any extra hands. Cheers =) -- ran ( talk) 22:33, 17 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Thanks for organizing the meeting. I found out who you can call at the Library to try to set up an educational program, and I e-mailed this info to dgoodman: 1. Phil Yockey, Mgr. of Bartos Educational Center, 212-930-9204 OR 2. Madeline Cohen, Asst. director for Electronic resources at the science library @34th St: 212-592-7025. Best regards, -- Ssilvers ( talk) 19:15, 18 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Nice Green Cheese/Moon article. I'm shocked there's so much published stuff. Now if only someone could document "hand vagina".... Likebox ( talk) 12:54, 25 May 2009 (UTC) reply

your museum project

hi Pharos, hope all is well with you. Haven't forgotten about your e-mail but I saw this post Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Museums#The_Science_Museum_At_Wroughton_.28Formerly_Science_Museum_Swindon.29 and thought of the work you were doing with some museums. Wanted to put this one on your radar. Hoping to catch up with Wiki stuff soon. StarM 01:13, 30 May 2009 (UTC) reply

I cannot make it on the weekend of July 25/26, August 1/2, or August 15/16. Any other weekend would be great. Just wanted to let you know. -- Mblumber ( talk) 01:52, 1 June 2009 (UTC) reply
