What, Where, When, and How?
Apps for Democracy open source event
When? : Saturday, June 6, 2009 — all day (8:30 am - 5 pm), but come when you like. There are opportunities to give presentations at the event, and we may organize something specific to wikis sometime that afternoon.
Where? :
George Washington University, Institute for Politics Democracy & the Internet, 805 21st St., NW, Floor 1, Washington, DC 20052
Metro is doing
maintenance this weekend on the red line (replacing a switch near the New York Avenue station), which means red line trains will be single tracking. There also will be single tracking on the Orange line near the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station. This means there will be some delays. Plan accordingly.
Metro stations are marked on the maps, along with the
DC Circulator Bus route.
To get there from Metro's red line, you will have to change from the red line to the orange/blue line at Metro Center. You need to take the orange/blue line in the direction of Vienna.
To get there from Metro's green or yellow line, you should change to the orange/blue line at L'Enfant Plaza, and get the orange/blue line in the direction of Vienna.
If coming from Virginia, you can take either the orange or blue line directly to the Foggy Bottom station.
If you are coming from Union Station (or Georgetown), one option (possibly quickest/easiest) is to take the Circulator Bus - special red bus for tourists and anyone (costs $1, payable with cash or SmarTrip card). The bus comes every 10 minutes. If you do this, get off at 21st St (where it turns from K St, and then proceeds on Pennsylvania Avenue). The Circulator Bus route is marked on the maps.
If you drive, there is a parking garage at 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue,
[1] or street parking can likely be found in this area on Saturdays. (not sure what the hours are for meters, but they might end at 6:30 pm on Saturdays; check to be sure when parking)
Here (pdf) is a GWU campus map, which shows individual buildings. Bertucci's is located in #97 on the map.

Yes
I'm going to say I'm pretty sure I can make this one.

If so, then I can't go. Can someone find out and let me know before I go through a lot of trouble and effort to go and discover it's inaccessible?reply
My recollection is that it is downstairs, not upstairs, and there's an elevator. But this was years ago, and perhaps they've moved? --
BRG (

The restaurant is accessible. That's not the main entrance in the photo. The building is a mini shopping mall (with a CVS store), so the entrance is in the mall and we will be sitting downstairs. There is an elevator to the downstairs where we will be, so should be okay. --

Let us know if you are attending, and if you want to present. It's advised that you also
rsvp on the Apps for Democracy event page. If you want to attend the entire event, that's good, but if you can/only want to attend in the afternoon, that's okay. We should at least have a group of us there in the afternoon. And, if you can only join the group for dinner, that's also okay.
Yes
I will be attending, and signed up to present on integrating mapping and wiki technology, including Wikipedia integration. --
