Re:Recycling Photos

Well, I'm placing them there because it's either there or in irrelevant text. I COULD make a recycling section to that article but I'm not sure how much there would be to write for a single photo. So to make it simplier I just add it to a gallery where later other photos may be added to fill it up. On the Slovenia one, the photo didn't have a exact location, so I just added it to the country. EDIT: Hmm, I see your point now, to not add something so trivial to an entire country. Okay, my apologies. SwisterTwister ( talk) 22:06, 2 June 2010 (UTC) reply

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles 05:12, 15 November 2010 (UTC) reply

Capitalization

Greetings! With this recent edit you changed "counties" to "Counties" in cases like "Jackson and Jefferson counties". I had understood that in this situation, the word "counties" should not be capitalized, but I have not found anything definitive in the Wikipedia Manual of Style and am checking other sources; however, I was wondering how you made a decision on this. It is an issue that has been discussed before, and there were points made on both sides... Thanks! Omnedon ( talk) 19:23, 29 November 2010 (UTC) reply

  • It seemed to me that "Counties" should be capitalized as a proper noun. If that's not correct, feel free to change it back. I won't argue. -- Lord Pistachio talk 20:49, 29 November 2010 (UTC) reply
    • Well, it's one of those issues where I can see both sides. If I can find something definitive on this, I'll let you know. Thanks. Omnedon ( talk) 23:34, 29 November 2010 (UTC) reply
      • Just stalking by to provide some clarification. In the context of the edit, both are correct, depending on the intent of the author. The capitalized "County" refers to the government entity or (constitutional body), while the lowercase "county" refers to geographical land mass within established boundaries. As an example, the state of Washington refers to the northwestern state in the United States. The State of Washington refers to the governmental, constitutional body that manages affairs within the state of Washington. "Formed from Jackson and Jefferson Counties" indicates that two governmental entities consolidated their resources to form a new government. "Formed from Jackson and Jefferson counties" indicates the consolidation of two geographical areas. In the context of Jennings County, the capital "C" would be appropriate due to the consolidation of the governmental, constitutional bodies of Jackson and Jefferson. Hope this helps. Butler University - Disciples of Christ

I noticed you reverted my change on the Butler page. I changed the line from "Butler University was founded by members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)" to "Butler University was founded by members of the Disciples of Christ". This change had been discussed for several weeks in the discussion area. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) may have descended from the Disciples of Christ but when the school was founded the current Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination did not exist. It was not formed until 1968. When the school was founded it was church was known simply as the Disciples of Christ and from a historical viewpoint is much more accurate statement.

Would you explain the reason for the reversion? Thank You Llorracsemaj ( talk) 00:04, 8 March 2011 (UTC) LLorracsemaj reply

New deal for page patrollers

Hi Lord Pistachio,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC) reply

Hello Lord Pistachio, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have changed a page you tagged ( List of songs that frequently use the word "ye") from being tagged for speedy deletion to being tagged for proposed deletion.
