Exactly how do you define non-notable in the case of this author? From my point of view she is a best selling author whose books have won awards. I have three sources that include biography information including a major biographical source that is an important reference source ( Contemporary Authors Online). I've added a couple of awards I found. She also has had books translated into Spanish and French. Don't know if you can find press on that or not. But would be worth adding. One does not get translated if one is not marketable. SusunW ( talk) 18:15, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

I'm answering your question here, or rather not answering it, so as not to cloud up the AfD discussion with off-topic talk. I have no idea if there is a time limit on nominations to AfD. One would assume that a reasonable time frame would be allowed, but it is highly doubtful that anyone follows that based on what I have seen. Your best bet is to get 25 solid articles under your belt and apply for Autopatrol status so that your articles don't go into the patrol pool. SusunW ( talk) 23:16, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi, afds usually run for seven days before being closed, or relisted for further discussion. Of course they can also be speedily deleted or kept before the seven days as rightly happened here. Here is the wikipage about afds - WP:AFD. At nominating afds editors are asked to carry out checks and consider alternatives but unfortunately a lot of nominators appear to either disregard or just pay it lipservice. Coolabahapple Thanks for the response and resource. The question is not how long they are posted on AfD, the question is do editors have a window from the creation of the file before it can be nominated. I see tons of these that get nominated within minutes of creation. And Librarygurl says this has happened to her twice.

Hi SusunW, thanks, my understanding is there is no window, although the New Page Patrol article under Be nice to the newbies states "Research has shown that writers unfamiliar with Wikipedia guidelines should be accorded at least 10 to 15 minutes to fix the article before it is nominated for speedy deletion." I see the nom did wait 11mins but maybe this sentence should be given more emphasis and included in the lead of that page? Coolabahapple ( talk) 01:27, 25 December 2015 (UTC)

Librarygurl you might also try creating the file in a sandbox or in a UserSpace and then moving it. I create all my files from red links and select the option start the new article at "at Special:Mypage/FILENAME". Doing it that way, I can make sure that it is referenced and relatively complete before it goes to main space. Then once that is done, just select move to article and remove your username from the title. There are several ways to do that, it's just the way I do it.
