Hi Daron! Although Korean films are indeed an interest of mine, I unfortunately don't know an awful lot about the festival. What you've done so far looks okay though. I don't think there's a right or wrong in terms of structure (whatever works best for the article, I say), but if you're taking your lead from other articles then you might take a look at Reel Affirmations, which passed a GA review fairly recently. The convention for Korean names recommends using a hyphen when no other preference is known (see WP:NC-KO); generally I find that most actor/director articles use a hyphenated name anyway. Hope that helps! Regards. PC78 ( talk) 20:28, 16 May 2008 (UTC) reply

Proposed deletion of Neighborhoods of St. Louis/to do

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Neighborhoods of St. Louis/to do, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also " What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{ dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Erechtheus ( talk) 23:58, 18 May 2008 (UTC) reply

Hey Daron, I was watching your talk page, since I saw your away message. I took care of the above so that you won't lose any work. I moved all the content on Neighborhoods of St. Louis/to do to Talk:Neighborhoods of St. Louis/to do. I also updated the link on the regular neighborhoods of STL talk page. Hope I didn't mess up anything in the process. The only reason it was nominated for deletion is that you created the to do list in the mainspace vs. as a subpage of the talk page. - Grey Wanderer | Talk 02:48, 19 May 2008 (UTC) reply

Re: Ages (Singapore Education)

In Kindergarten, there's N1, N2, K1, and K2 which are for 3, 4, 5, and 6 years old respectively. In Primary schools, there's P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 and P6, which are for 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 years old respectively. For Secondary schools, there's S1, S2, S2 and S4, which are for 13, 14, 15, 16 years old respectively. Then, after secondary schools, they either go to a Polytechnic or a J.C. to take up 2 to 3 years of study before going to either College or University. You'll also have to take note that the school year in Singapore begins in January and end at November (October for those in Secondary schools due to the holidays), unlike the American way which begins in September and ends at June. It's a bit confusing at first, but you'll get used to it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.243.177.41 ( talk) 02:50, 15 November 2008 (UTC) reply

Re:the St. Louis Gateway Mall images

Hi DaronDierkes. Well, there are two simple ways to deal with the permissions problem. One way is to contact a representative for the organization behind the files and have them write an email to "permissions-en-at-wikimedia.org" stating what license (for a full list see WP:ICT/All) the images are licensed under. The other way is to have a representative post a note on the website, stating which images are released under free licenses. Just a caveat though, if you find that the images are not licensed under a free license and non-free, then the images could be deleted per failure of Wikipedia's non-free content criteria #1. Hope that helps to clarify things; please feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any more questions or are in need of assistance. Your St. Louis ward articles

Just a suggestion, but wouldn't it be better if these were called, say, "Ward X, City of St. Louis," or "Ward X, St. Louis"? "Saint Louis City" seems like a pretty nonstandard appellation, at least from my own experience and all the other articles we have on St. Louis topics. -- Glenfarclas ( talk) 07:32, 21 December 2009 (UTC) reply

Okay, no problem. Just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be the equivalent of referring to Southern California University or something. -- Glenfarclas ( talk) 07:43, 21 December 2009 (UTC) reply

beer breweries in greater st. louis category

why did you redirect that category? If anything it should go the other way. DaronDierkes ( talk) 00:38, 22 December 2009 (UTC) reply

I realize that the four breweries there are all in St. Louis, but many small breweries that are not in St. Louis are in Greater St. Louis. St. Louis is an Independent City. DaronDierkes ( talk) 00:40, 22 December 2009 (UTC) reply
Hi Daron. Category:Brewing in Greater St. Louis is a non-standard cat. The standard beer cat scheme is Category:Beer and breweries by region to Category:Beer and breweries in North America to Category:Beer and breweries in the United States. In the rest of the world the cat scheme continues down in the same manner - Category:Beer and breweries in Europe to Category:Beer and breweries in the United Kingdom, etc. In those cats, beer brands, beer companies, and articles related to beer and breweries in the respective regions are placed. A few years ago an alternative cat scheme was introduced just for the United States - Category:Beer brewing companies in the United States by state to Category:Beer brewing companies based in Missouri. This is already an awkward category because the name doesn't allow for articles on beer brands or other beer related matters to be placed in such cats. There were a couple of discussions about it. The new scheme was undone once, but then restored. To prevent further disruption, the alternative scheme was kept. In order to now accommodate the beer articles that could no longer fit into the new scheme, a new cat was created - Category:American beer brands, and a supercat to hold that - Category:Beer brands. This is working - and we don't wish to impose a new category system upon that.
Category:Beer brewing companies based in Missouri already has a subcat - Category:Beer brewing companies based in St. Louis, Missouri, even though the two cats together only hold six articles. It could be argued that Category:Beer brewing companies based in St. Louis, Missouri is already a cat too far, so adding another cat - Category:Brewing in Greater St. Louis would just make things even more cluttered and difficult to navigate.
The cat Category:Brewing in Greater St. Louis doesn't fit into the existing cat schemes, and it's not needed, as already there are more than enough cats for breweries in St. Louis, Missouri. I would suggest that any brewery articles you wish to create would fit quite well in either Category:Beer brewing companies based in St. Louis, Missouri or Category:Beer brewing companies based in Missouri (but not both).
I hope that helps to explain why I redirected Category:Brewing in Greater St. Louis to Category:Beer brewing companies based in St. Louis, Missouri. SilkTork * YES! 10:10, 22 December 2009 (UTC) reply

Thank you for the updates and expansion. About information in the early life section(very interesting, I was glad to know), I think citation might be necessary. As to the academic work section, wondering if his master thesis matters here, as Minsoo Kang is probably more notable for his literature writing as an asian american writer, so I moved the fiction information back to the header section and added comment on the discussion page. Also I updated his nationality as American, as he is on the wiki list of Korean American writers - unless you have other resources/evidence telling otherwise. You accidentally removed some of his essays, I put them back. Thanks for your editing!

File permission problem with File:Oldcourthouse ballpark.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Oldcourthouse ballpark.jpg, which you've attributed to Ted Ficklin. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{ permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{ non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. plicit 12:47, 26 May 2023 (UTC) reply

-- Glenfarclas ( talk) 07:32, 21 December 2009 (UTC) reply

beer breweries in greater st. louis category

why did you redirect that category?

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Pinnacle@Duxton, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Jayakumar RG ( talk) 14:11, 14 June 2014 (UTC) reply
