Dear Larry —
I did not create this page but I am the subject of this page.
I check in occassionly to make sure the information is updated and correct. I’m not the adminustrator of this page, but if I can’t correct or update information about myself for the sake of accuracy then what’s the point?
This page has been there as long as I can remember. I am a prominemt public figure in the New York Theatre community. One click of a google seatch will bring up numerous articles and reviews about any play, musical, film, TV show or job mentioned. There are thousands of references all over the internet, including IMDB and IBDB.
The Wikipedia link is the first that will show up when doing an internet search for information about me. And now my entire history, a career that spans 55 years, keeps getting deleted as if it were fiction. This accurate detailed page has been reduced to a two sentence soundbite. This is most upsetting.
Sincerely, WALTER WILLISON NYC — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:F947:C200:F9CC:6463:769F:92FE ( talk) 05:12, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Larry —
Can’t you or another Editor please fix my page?
I’m not a Wikipedia editor, nor do I want to be one. My one attempt a coupke years ago to add a page for Lee Horwin who is a legitimate performer who has been around for decades was not accepted because I don’t know how to do this.
And now my own page — as a public personality for 55 years — has been practically deleted on the grounds that it contains the same credits as my IMDB pages! My credits are nor more exclusive to IMDB than anyone elses. My bio is the same everywhere. And my page — which I did not originate — has been on Wilipedia forever.
Seriously, as you must have read, I am a Tony Award nominee, I have been starring on Broadway, in films and on TV for over five decades, and now someone has decided I am not worth being properly represented on this website and all my credits have been deleted and I just don’t get it.
I was told to add links and references and I spent time doing that tonight and it was rejected. I don’t understand. I am a public personality. My life and career are public knowledge. I am not the editor of my page. I am not anybody’s editor. I just want my page back.
Before all the info was deleted it was the most complete and thorough record of my career available on line — there were even things listed I had firgotten about — and I am listed in other Wikipedia articles.
Someone set this up years ago. Can’t you or someone else fix it so I am not reduced to a two line soundbite? Isn’t that what Wilipedia editors do? If I am only reduced to a four line sentence about the show I did 48 ago then what’s the point of being listed here at all?
People use this as a reference and I would always direct them here. I even put a link in my recent programsbios saying “If you want to know more go to Wikipedia” because the information was so thorough. Now it’s gone.
Please, can’t you fix whatever is wrong or direct me to someone who can?
Sincerely, WALTER WILLISON — Preceding unsigned comment added by WAWNYC ( talk • contribs) 09:56, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
L —
I wrote all of that. It’s the standard bio that has gone out to the press, with periodic updates, for decades. I am the one who posted it on IMDB. This has nothing to do with them.
My bio has begun with the phrase “garnered a Tony Award nomination and a Theatre World Award” since a press agent first wrote that in 1971. It was not written by and is not copyrighted by IMDB.
Even the show titles are highlighted in red as copyrighted by IMDB! For example “Broadway Scandals of 1928: The New 1928 Speakeasy Musical” is the title of an off Broadway musical I wrote in 1982 and which has been recorded on CD. This has nothing to do with IMDB. it’s a title of a show I wrote listed in my bio and resume. But you - or someone — has highlighted in red as IMDB copyrighted. It is NOT! Nor are the majority of the other things highlighted, the shows and the names of the people involved in them.
To highlight all my show titles and the performers in them in red as IMBD copyrighted material is ludicrous. It’s the same as saying you can’t have a Wilipedia page for “The Sound of Music” or “Hello, Dolly!” because they’re listed on IMDB in thousands of bios and resumes.
I pay IMDB PRO annually to include that bio and resume info as does everyone else, so it’s accessible to producers, casting directors and others in the industry. The information is meant to be copied and shared. They didn’t write it. They don’t own it. They don’t even edit, censor or correct it. And one version or another has appeared in programs and Playbills and been sent out in press releases my entire life. It is not owned or copyrighted by anyone but me.
Sincerely, WALTER WILLISON — Preceding unsigned comment added by WAWNYC ( talk • contribs) 10:34, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Larry —
I’m not sure what you do for a living but I gather you’re not involved in show business. Press agents are hired by actors, writers, producers, production companis, etc. to promite them. We hire them to write about us. They work for us. They don’t own anything they send out. It is meant to be copied, used in articles, reviews, etc. That’s the whole point.
And NOBODY owns show titles or anyones names.
All he show titles and casts are highlighted in red. They are not cooyrighted by IMDB and I don’t know where anyone would even get that idea. If they are then you need to delete your pages about HELLO, DOLLY!, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, MY FAIR LADY and every other play, musical or film. As well as those pages about every other actor whose name is highlghted in red.
There’s very little hyperbole, and it’s been there for years that way. And if you don’t like the verbage then rewrite it. I just want it to be updated and accurate.
But I am not a Wikipedia editor and don’t know how to do all the rest, the references and such.
And if you are being so literal and in fear of IMDB then why is it listed as a reference for every other actor in the business?

I received your reply to my question related to the updates. As such, I have signed in with my username paulcoleman. Kindly note, my other username of PaulColemannUSA is basically the same. I think that I inadvertently created the second one. Is it advisable for me to delete one of these accounts? If so, how do I do that?
During the interim, I have followed the instructions at Wikipedia:Simple COI request to add references for the subject of the article that I am trying to expand, and I am following your advice of sticking with suggested changes on the talk page by following those instructions. As such, I have entered the suggested changes on the talk page for your reference. I hope this helps!

The only cyclists at Oxford Street, Regents Street, outside the Parliament / Westminster Abbey, Soho, City of London or even around Imperial War Museum I ever seen, are messengers working. I spoke with a man at a post office close to Russel Square, he made complaints about the high flat rents. He also told me "if I moved to East End, it would be cheaper, but then the transports to work would become equally higher". I then just briefly suggested "what about a bike". He just laughed a little, and didn't wished to be killed. There are many cyclists in the north, easst, south and far west - but not in City of London , Westminster etc. Especially not if comparing to many other Capital Cities in Europe.
We are obligated to describe what is, not exaggerate. Compare with Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin, Hamburg etc - and you 'll see, there are very few cyclists in London's most central parts. It's a really lovely city anyway. Thanks.

Hope you are well. Was wondering if I can get your opinion regarding potential canvassing issue, particularly this message [2]. Despite the content of the message seemingly being about a separate subject, it is possibly pertinent to the discussion over at Talk:Somalis. The editor being asked to "contact me when you read this" is possibly a relative of the Warsangali leader Soupforone is attempting to reinsert into the article, per their own claim ("My own ancestors and/or relatives on my paternal side used to rule large swathes of eastern and parts of central Somaliland via the Warsangali sultanate") [3] also ("I'm Warsangali and Dashishe on my father's side [...] and my mother is Majeerteen with some Marehan and Ogaden") [4]. Given the discussion involving the Warsangali leader on the Somalis page, as well as the ongoing issue at [5], all related to supposedly the relatives of editor receiving the message, the timing of message and "contact me when you read this" line are cause for concern. Could this be considered canvassing? Or would it only be considered that if they support canvasser in said discussions (if at all)? Best wishes -- Kzl55 ( talk) 15:52, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Hope you are well Larry. Wanted to get your opinion on this post [6]. I have posted it a couple of days ago and it still has no responses and was wondering if the pinging worked at all. Also, any advice on how to take it further, i.e. would it be more suitable as its own standalone report instead of being part of the discussion pertaining to the Somalis article? Especially since it references previous behaviour on WP as well as Commons. If you had seen it and was not able to reply there for any reason absolutely no worries. Best wishes -- Kzl55 ( talk) 13:14, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
Could you take a look at the contributions of the following admin user:NatGertler They've been adding AfD tags on articles that pertain to actor/producer Bryan Earl Kreutz. This page has a long running talk for notability on the AFD page. This is in no way an attack on them, just a concern as it is pertaining to deletion not tags for correction. They've continued even after an editor politely asked them to further clarify references on the deletion for the aforementioned Bryan Earl Kreutz. It appears it has a predictable SNOW result that contravening MfD is unacceptable., could you consider intervening? The links for notability are from verifiable independent sources and newspaper writers and are archived on websites because they are a few years old, as such since they are not on the original newspaper website, the articles are being called Copyright violations. I have other ways of uploading the articles to prove they are not Copyright violations. I'm wondering can the references be uploaded to an inbox or the AfD articles be re-written as a project or something done here?
In addition to the Bryan Earl Kreutz page, the 2 other pages i'm referring to with Bryan Kreutz are as follows: To Inflict, The article has 2 verifiable sources that were older and retrieved last on 2013-09-08. One of the sources showed it in a notable story on the Indie Fest USA website and is no longer there because the website updated their latest films for the festival, his film was from 2013.
The next page is Up on High Ground. I'm asking if you could please restore the page or point me to someone who can as I and a number of others had contributed to it since it was created over 2 years ago and I would like to continue improving it.
Any thoughts about whether both To Inflict or Up on High Ground (TV series) could qualify for semi-protection? Additionally to be considered to be added here Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard or if they can be fairly assessed by other top notch admins without this user:NatGertler and other admin friends they bring in to make rash decisions to back them up and ultimately move to AfD? I'm asking advice as this page seems to be a possiblity? I just don't know where we should go. Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion ?
Lastly I feel this administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying AFD tags, and I've contacted them directly and been ignored. Should I go before the Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion ? Hi, I created a page for a digital forensics tool ILOOK which has been deleted. I based the page on the following pages that are similar tools and are already on Wikipedia so I am not sure where I went wrong as I thought the description was factual rather than promotional:
/info/en/?search=EnCase /info/en/?search=Forensic_Toolkit /info/en/?search=The_Sleuth_Kit /info/en/?search=Registry_Recon /info/en/?search=PTK_Forensics /info/en/?search=HashKeeper /info/en/?search=Xplico
I think I only referenced information that is on the web already.
I was intending to add some other new tools to keep Wikipedia up to date so any advice would be helpful - thanks P1127 ( talk) 13:14, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll have a look and try again. I didn't see any tags on the EnCase and Forensics Toolkit pages which were the main inspiration and I thought I was following their example. It is concerning that tagged pages are still there if they are breaking the same rules as my posting. The article on the Forensikswiki is under the Creative Commons licence, i.e. Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format and Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially. Soupforone was banned for socking but i think he is back editing his favorite addition regarding leo africanus bit on Adal Sultanate article. The User:Bayesedam seems to think Troyoleg is Soupforone. Can you look into it? 82.131.85.18 ( talk) 18:56, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
Based on the page history, soupforone has been battling socks atleast since january on the page. The socks are most likely Bayesedam's who just got blocked, his older sock rockvoid made this edit [7] which soupforone reverted. im assuming since soupforone got blocked the sock of rockvoid on april 5th returned with another account this time Swoonsaxes and tried to make the same edit, [8] thus soupforone may have quickly created an account and reverted him. Hi Larry
Thank you very much for saving my article from deletion! I admit, I've not had a lot of time to work on it lately, though I do still look over my scrapbook of newspaper clippings from time to time.
It's proving very difficult to find independent sources. As the SASES is a government funded volunteer organisation it seems all I can find is either published by the State or merely mentions the SASES ... It's also somewhat frustrating that our sister organisation, the South Australian Country Fire Service have a page with just 3 references. & our interstate equivalent Victoria State Emergency Service have even less...
Is there any further advice you can give me?

Hey Cordless Larry!
I created a page with just a couple of sentences and a picture of an issue of Faces International, which was quickly deleted. Please tell me what I can do to create this page, which others will eventually add to?
There is very little about Faces International on the web, yet you can find useless information about almost anything else under the Sun.
Thanks,

I noticed Cellphonevilla while reviewing new articles, and my suspicions were roused when I saw the article came from a new editor yet had maintenance templates attached to it. I saw that you deleted the article today, so can I ask which editor created the version of the article you deleted? I think a warning about sock puppetry may be in order if these two accounts are somehow linked. SamHolt6 ( talk) 02:49, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
As you are a recent administrator, I would like to ask you for some advice. I am very excited to be a Wikipedian, but I am not sure where or how to start. Do you have any advice for me as to how to get my start? I just feel a bit nervous about whether I mess up or not, so I would like a bit of advice. I await a response with great patience, and I hope you can help me so that I can find my own path within Wikipedia. Thank you. UnsungKing123 ( talk) 16:34, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
not sure what your point was but trolling my minor edits on a monday night doesn't seem like the best way to spend your evening — Preceding unsigned comment added by Morganwhite33 ( talk • contribs) 06:53, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

[9] soupforone and tryoleg both remove this phrase "were Habar Magādle who were Habar Awal, Garhajis, Arap and Ayub all part of Isāq clan" I think the removal of this again by a new user, made rockvoids sock, bayesedam call out soup. Drmies and Bbb23, I note that Troyoleg has recently restored the content of History of Bantus in Maine, which was originally written largely by the sockmaster Middayexpress. Cordless Larry ( talk) 16:22, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi! You recently answered a Teahouse question I submitted about a week ago regarding a merger. I was wondering if you could check whether I followed the steps as required? I don't want to cause any Wikipedia mayhem! Articles in question were Cory Booker and Political positions of Cory Booker. Thank you! JKen ( talk) 23:04, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
I noticed you posted a final warning on User talk:Flyteman183 and just minutes after that the user continued to add unsourced content. The user has been consistently disruptive going back to December 2017 and a block would be nice if you have the time to do so. Thank you. Willsome429 ( talk) 21:47, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

Kind regards -- KaiRAWR ( talk) 06:29, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

Hey Cordless Larry!
I created a page with just a couple of sentences and a picture of an issue of Faces International, which was quickly deleted. Please tell me what I can do to create this page, which others will eventually add to?
There is very little about Faces International on the web, yet you can find useless information about almost anything else under the Sun.
Thanks,

Please stop replacing the Square Cafe photograph on this page. It is my photo and I don't want it on there. I shall remove my permission if you keep doing it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GugnePorcu ( talk • contribs) 11:21, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
